Ramping up points in the group categories, The Stentorian placed second overall despite a modest showing with the individual categories of LAAB XII held at White Corals Beach Resort, Bataan, May 2-4.
Their Newsletter was hailed as the second best with its news, editorial/opinion, and devcomm sections placing 2nd; its literary, sports, and page design placing 3rd.
The Stentorian's collaborative desktop publishing group clinched the 3rd spot while their folio grabbed the 4th place with its literary content and visual design placing 2nd, and concept and page design placing 3rd and 4th, respectively.

I think paid-off naman yung efforts," Payumo said.
Among the 10 participating TSU publications, CAFA's The Studio and COED's The Educators' Gazette tied for the title of Best Performing Publication for this year's LAAB.

ADVISORY NO. 14
Addressing the extreme heat conditions experienced by students
The TSU administration is not a stranger to the fact that we have been experiencing extreme heat conditions for the past weeks, and all members of the TSU community, particularly the students, are affected by this.
To address this pressing matter, the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs called an emergency meeting with the TSU Supreme Student Council and Board of Governors yesterday (May 2, 2024) to discuss whether the university will continue the face-to-face learning setup or adopt asynchronous learning for the remainder of the semester.
All parties agreed to continue with the face-to-face learning modality for the remaining three weeks of the Academic Year 2023-2024.
Moreover, students are now allowed to use vacant air-conditioned classrooms in their respective colleges while waiting for their following classes, given that students should be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and properly using the facilities and equipment.
Likewise, the university shall ease up on the uniform policies with a memorandum emanating from each college.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Agnes M. Macaraeg facilitated the dialogue with the student representatives alongside College of Public Administration and Governance Dean Dr. Edwin T. Caoleng, also the TSU SSC adviser, Office of University Health Service Director Dr. Rommel M. Hernandez, Business Center Unit Head Ms. Carlota M. Marcos, and the Office of Public Affairs.
The cooperation of the student leaders and all TSU students is highly anticipated regarding the implementation of these measures to maintain quality learning while keeping everyone safe.

Attempting to address the financial burden incurred by student-athletes during the Intramurals 2024 despite budget constraints, student leaders, department chairpersons, organization advisers, and even the dean of the College of Engineering convened today on the Accreditation Room.
Dr. Marie Wendy Frany convened the meeting with Engr. Neil Andrew Meneses leading discussions on the recent emergency session chaired by TSU Pres. Arnold Velasco, addressing the financial shortfall experienced by college student councils during the intramurals.
Colleges' anticipation of a Php. 150,000 subsidy alongside a pledged Php. 2,000 allowance per athlete, amounting to Php. 6,000,000, was shattered after an emergency meeting led by TSU VP for Academic Affairs, Dr. Agnes Macaraeg, last Wednesday, disclosing that only Php. 2,000,000 can be allocated for university sports events.
Consequently, the College of Engineering, engaged in the intramurals, initially anticipating a budget of Php. 704,000, with 277 athletes expected to receive Php. 2,000 each, along with an extra Php. 150,000 subsidy, is now left with only Php. 200,000 for their expenses.
Due to the budget issues being only disseminated amidst the intramurals, the student council and athletes are now at a loss because of the financial liabilities they have already made in the timeframe that they were still hopeful for the Php. 2,000 allowances and Php. 150,000 subsidy.
Engr. Neil Andrew Meneses, COE SC adviser, said that the principle of equity shall now be used in giving out allowances based on the transportation costs from and to the sports venues, the gear and jerseys bought, and the duration of the events, which all add up to the financial strain on student-athletes.
In addition, to raise funds for the financial liabilities made, college merchandise will be available to purchase again, including athlete jerseys that were exclusive only for athletes and can now be bought by the public. Donations from faculty, alumni, and engineering chapter organizations will also be sought.
Aside from these, non-monetary incentives were also increased to which details will be disclosed after cascading and subsequent confirmation from faculty members.
Proving that the College of Engineering values and recognizes the efforts of the student-athletes in the recently concluded Intramurals 2024, Meneses said that the fight for their sacrifices is still not over.
Hindi man namin nakuha ang kampyonato, pero dito sa laban na 'to ipapanalo namin ang mga atleta naming nagsakripisyo,โ says Meneses.
Those backing the college's endeavor to honor the efforts of student-athletes are encouraged to support by purchasing merchandise to be launched by the COE SC; faculty, alumni, and engineering chapter organizations are also urged to contribute through GCash of the council.
Further announcements will be made on the official COE-SC page.
