Egg's nutritional value.

Eggs are a densely packed source of nutrients and energy.
While its white portion provides one of the cleanest forms of protein, its yolk is rich in fats, carbs and some protein.
Some saturated fats and cholesterol are also present which indicates that Cardiac patients need caution while consuming eggs.

Egg white is a great food, especially in boiled form, for Iftaar meals. Fasting causes loss of muscle mass, which can be reduced this way!

Sehr Meals are supposed to be heavy, and replete with fats and carbohydrates, consuming whole eggs, in cooked, fried, or scrambled form, is beneficial.

Paratha

Paratha is an integral part of Suhoor meals in the Subcontinent. While it is packed with a great deal of energy, most of the calories come from fat and carbohydrates which make it an excellent choice for Sehr.

At the same time it presents a tricky case for cardiac and diabetic patients. The presence of Cholesterol and saturated fats indicate the requirement for caution.

These risks can be reduced by replacing conventional ghee with trans-fats containing oils, like olive oil etc.

You need 2000-25000 calories per day. Divide this into three meals during Ramadan, allocating most to Sehr. Fats should be present in Sehr because they slow down the absorption leading to a constant energy supply throughout the day.

Basic Health Guidelines for Ramadan

1. Try dividing your food intake into three meals. Take a small meal while breaking your fast. A supper is advised before Ishaa prayer. And then a meal at Sehr.

2. Hydrate your body steadily Iftar through Sehr. Taking a lot of water at Sehr wouldn't guarantee a thirst-free day.

3. Avoid taking spicy, deep fried, "fast" foods. Foods containing natural sugars should be preferred at Iftaar (e.g. Fruits, Milkshakes, natural drinks, dates). While, Sehr should contain energy rich foods, including some healthy fats, (e.g. Yogurt, Butter, Omelettes, Bread, Dates, etc)

4. Consider a walk if you feel bloated after the meals.
