๐นComplete ruptures of the distal biceps tendon at its attachment on the radial tuberosity (elbow attachment) are uncommon and only thought to account for around 3% of all bicep tendon tears.
๐นWhen these injuries do happen, they are usually traumatic in nature and occur more frequently in males and those individuals who are either athletes, weightlifters or manual laborers.
๐นRupture of the biceps tendon is typically related to situations in which a strong and/or abrupt extension force is placed on the elbow flexor musculature at a level that exceeds the capacity of the tendon. At this point, the tendon can tear away from its attachment to the radius bone.
