I was lucky enough to launch Hamida Riaz Foundation in my (late) mother's life, though I could not celebrate its launch with her the way I had wanted to (on her birthday this month) but was fortunately able to surprise her when she was in the hospital. It has an unusual history for I was directed spiritually by my (late) father to start off this organization despite me being apprehensive of taking up this great responsibility.

How many of you could have ever guessed that this young and successful Bollywood actor had been suffering from mental health issues?
Fame, name, game, girls, money, looks, power... what not?

In fact, this is not the first su***de, there are numerous cases in our surroundings, many are not even reported. These people were once normal, just like you. Their unresolved mental struggles led them on the verge of ending their lives and attain infinite ‘peace’ by killing themselves, nevertheless, they could have lived amazing lives if provided help well in time.
The reality is humans are defined by their thought processes and emotions.
Unfortunately in our society, it is a collective psyche to judge others on the basis of superficial things and by specifically labelling others’ mental health issues as taboos. As a result, the ones who really need and want to seek mental health support avoid being seen near to mental health support and eventually multiply their mental complexities. Such people need our help. Stop labelling them and start assisting them. Regularly check on them. Reestablish your communication with them. Bring mental health awareness to them and encourage them to consult counsellors and therapists on a regular basis. It is something very serious, a matter of their life and death, indeed. You may want to listen to their stories rather than resentfully carrying their funerals. Mental struggles are real. It is a high time that we collectively bring mental health awareness and right here end all kinds of taboos attached to this.
