The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) sealed a dental clinic operating in the residence of former President of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi, on Thursday.

The clinic, located at House 23B, Sindhi Muslim Society, was sealed following complaints of commercial activities in a residential area.

According to reports, the SBCA team, led by Assistant Director Shakeel Jamali, took action against the clinic, with police providing security during the operation. Notices were posted outside the clinic, stating that it had been sealed due to the illegal commercial use of the residential property.

Residents had long complained about the unauthorised clinic, citing issues with parking and privacy in the residential neighbourhood. Several formal complaints had been lodged with the SBCA and the local deputy commissioner’s office over the illegal commercial activities at the property.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb announced that the government, under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, is committed to tackling the country’s economic problems.

One of the key steps they are taking is privatizing some state-owned enterprises to improve efficiency and reduce the financial burden on the government.

He shared that the government plans to complete the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and three power distribution companies by the end of 2024.

This announcement comes after the recent delay in PIA’s privatization deadline to October 31. The delay was due to a lack of interest from potential bidders and ongoing legal challenges.

As the country struggles with skyrocketing inflation, high unemployment, law and order issues, and declining standard of living, the Ministry of Health reported that 80 million adults in the country were suffering from mental health issues.

The ministry divulged the figures during the National Assembly session. The lower house was informed that all major hospitals in the country were equipped with facilities to address psychiatric issues, and that 126 colleges have departments dedicated to mental illnesses.

A newlywed bride in Egypt filed for divorce after her husband humiliatingly called her a "donkey" in front of a crowd of wedding guests, it emerged on Tuesday.

According to Al-Arabiya, 30-year-old Rania, a medical degree holder, sought divorce from her 33-year-old husband, Dr Ali, after the embarrassing incident.

Rania revealed that she had agreed to marry Ali, who was her fellow university alum, despite his lower social status.
She said that his behaviour was very rude but she agreed to tie the knot, hoping he would change his nature.

However, her husband's nature was exposed on their wedding day. When Rania accidentally fell during the ceremony and quickly got up, Ali publicly taunted her, saying, "Get up, you donkey."

"My husband's words cut deep, and I felt utterly disrespected in front of our families and friends," Rania recounted the humiliating experience.Her brother intervened, which led to a heated argument between the two families. Rania immediately left the ceremony and returned home.

Days later, Ali attempted to reconcile, but Rania's father and brother refused to let her return with him, instead demanding a divorce. However, Ali refused to grant her one.

"I'm grateful my family stood by me and recognised the disrespect I endured.

"No woman deserves to be treated this way, especially on her wedding day."

Pakistan’s Arshad Mehsood has broken the Guinness World Record of India’s Chinmay Sharma for the most full-contact elbow strikes in one minute using alternate elbows.

Pakistan’s top Guinness World Record holder Irfan Mehsood said Chinmay Sharma had the record of 334 while Arshad broke the Indian record by a huge margin for hitting 373 elbow strikes.

“Arshad, who runs a Chingchi Rickshaw for a living is my student and more than 20 of my students have made Guinness World Records so far,” he told APP.

Meanwhile, Irfan Mehsood has achieved 100 Guinness World Records in less than 8 years including the deadlift by lifting 40 pounds for 3 minutes and 20 seconds. Mehsood lifted 70 kg weight with his toe and set a new world record.

“I have set 46 Guinness World Records for the most world-level pay in the push-ups category and 31 records with a weight of 100 pounds,” he said.

Mehsood said he has so far held the world record of 100 lbs, 80 lbs, 60 lbs, and 40 lbs.

“I have set records for pushups, squats, jumping jacks, step-ups, knee strikes, elbow strikes, side jumps, high jumps, star champs, etc. I have broken world records of 16 countries so far including America, Great Britain, India, China, Norway, Germany, France, Finland, Philippines, Spain, Italy, Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq, and Syria,” he said.
