On June 15, 2023, the College of Dentistry, Sharif Medical and Dental College, Lahore held an employee appreciation ceremony. College of Dentistry (COD) want to express its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined this Employee Appreciation Ceremony. It was an unforgettable event filled with joy, recognition, and appreciation for its exceptional team. The ceremony was a true testament to the remarkable contributions each of you has made to this organizations success. COD took this opportunity to honor the hard work, dedication, and outstanding talents that have propelled the institute forward. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed, and COD is immensely proud of its incredible team.
In this ceremony, Cash prizes/ gift hampers/ certificates were awarded to the best top 3 dental assistants and best house officer for the session of 2022-2023. Among the Dental Assistants, the 1st prize was awarded to Mr. M Imran (prosthodontics), 2nd to Mr. M Rashid (Orthodontics), and 3rd was given to Mr. Hassan Riaz (Community Dentistry). Best House Surgeon award was given to both Dr. Zahid Hashir and Dr. Minahil Abbas.
Each Member of the Task Force Team Committee received a token of appreciation as well.
Mr. M Nabeel (Sub-Engineer) was given a special award for his dedication and hard work.
College of Dentistry would like to extend a special thanks to its esteemed Principal, Prof Dr. Nauman Rauf Khan, who shared his wisdom and motivation.

Medically compromised patients are individuals who have one or more underlying medical conditions that put them at a higher risk of experiencing adverse health events. These conditions can range from chronic illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease, and respiratory problems, to more acute medical conditions such as recent surgery, infections, or injury. In general, medically compromised patients require closer monitoring and more cautious medical management to ensure their well-being.

It's important for healthcare providers to be aware of a patient's medical history and any conditions that may affect their care. This information can help doctors to device treatment plans, make decisions about which medications and procedures are appropriate, anticipate and manage potential complications. for this purpose College of Dentistry, SMDC arranged special lecture on titled "Dentistry in medically compromised patients" from renowned guest speaker Dr Kashif Hafeez BDS,MFDRCS (Ireland), FFDRCS (Ireland), FDSRCS (Edinburgh), PG Cert Med Ed (Oxford), FDTFRCS (Edinburgh), FCGDent (UK), PG Cert Ment Leader & Couch (UK).

One Day Educational Activity was held in College of Dentistry, Sharif Medical and Dental college, Lahore sponsored by GSK. Students, House Officers and Faculty members of College of Dentistry, were invited to participate in this activity. The theme of the activity was 'Dentinal Hypersensitivity & Gum Disease'
Following activities were held.
1.Presentations on:
•'Etiology & Management of Dentinal Hypersensitivity & Bleeding Gums' by Dr.Sarmad Saif, Senior Registrar,Department of Periodontology.
•'Pharmaceutical agents used to treat Dentinal Hypersensitivity & Gum Disease' By Mr. Muhammad Ejaz, Senior Regional Detailing Manager, GSK.

2.Chill Test Stall was installed for Dentinal Hypersensitivity Check up for all the participants.

Employee Appreciation Ceremony is organised by College of Dentistry, SMDC on 15th june, 2022 to encourage our employees for their determination, discipline, hard work, good working relationship and punctuality.
Studies show that recognition and appreciation are growing in importance as drivers of employee happiness and engagement. Showing employees appreciation can result in a institution higher retention rate, not only increasing the productivity of employees but the institute as a whole.
Certificates and gift hampers were distributed among the top 3 best Dental Assistant of the year June 21- May 22 and best House Surgeon of year.

College of Dentistry held one day Training and Certification on 3D Cam/ Cad Clear Aligner Technology on 20th may, 2022 in collaboration with Clear Path Orthodontics (CME department).Large number of participants including house officers, students and faculty attended the lecture followed by hands-on session where attendees learned about technical procedures.
We are very thankful to Principal College of Dentistry Prof Dr. Nauman Rauf Khan, Dr. Faiza Malik (HOD Orthodontics) and CME Department of Clear Path Orthodontics for facilitating this workshop. College of Dentistry, SMDC is keen and will ensure more workshops in clinical and research fields for the future development of their students and faculty.

College of dentistry, SMDC in collaboration with clearpath orthodontics is arranging one day training course in 3D cam/ cad clear aligner technology. Clear aligner technology provides treatment via a series of custom fitted, clear plastic alignment trays that are worn over the teeth.
To begin the process, your doctor uses state-of-the-art technology to image your teeth in 3D, which feeds into a computer to aid in designing your aligners.
When someone wants to improve their smile with straighter teeth and a more aligned bite, clear aligners can be an excellent treatment option. They can achieve proper alignment while also being minimally visible when being worn.

Yet another effort to add to the field of Research and Dentistry.

A workshop regarding "Research Proposal Writing" was conducted by the College Of Dentistry.
Dr. Rab Nawaz Lodhi who is working as an Associate Professor at the University of South Florida, USA helped the attendees with the basics of research and how to properly conduct research.
Dr. Asif Muneer (Director Punjab HEC-PHEC) also graced the event with his presence and guided the attendees about Reference writing using various software.
The workshop also included hands-on exercises which involved the attendees and motivated them to actively participate in the workshop and it also provided a platform for guidance regarding all the aspects of research.

College of Dentistry, SMDC is committed to the personal and professional growth of the Faculty and Students. Proficiency with statistical software packages is indispensable today for quantitative research in social sciences. It covers a broad range of statistical procedures that allow researcher to summarize data, determine whether there are significant differences between groups, examine relationships among variables, and graphical presentation of data. With this objective in mind College of Dentistry SMDC, provided a unique opportunity to learn how to apply SPSS software for quantitative data analysis, by conducting a one-day workshop.
Dr. Rab Nawaz Lodhi is an Associate Professor of Management at UCP Business School, facilitated this workshop. He is a certified trainer for quantitative and qualitative data analysis. He is also a Visiting Research Scholar at the M3 Centre of Muma College of Business, University of South Florida, USA. He has 49 research publications in HEC recognized journals.
Faculty showed an overwhelming response to this workshop by participating.

One day workshop titled, “Qualitative Research and Data Analysis using NVivo12”, was organized by E-Learning committee of college. Dr. Rab Nawaz Lodhi being a certified trainer of NVivo software facilitated this workshop. He grasped the attention of participants due to his simple and easy way of teaching. This workshop encouraged and guided the participants to do research projects related to qualitative analysis. The event was appreciated and applauded by all.

“How to use Endnote” Workshop was part of series of E-Learning program organized by Sharif College of Dentistry, SMDC on September 29, 2020. After recitation of few Quranic verses, facilitators “Dr. Sadia Rana” and “Dr. H. M. Owais Nasim” demonstrated the importance of Endnote and helped in gaining knowledge of key features of Endnote through few simple clicks. These e-learning workshop series are conducted to improve the core knowledge of all faculty members and will help stepping up the college’s development.

E-Learning committee of College of Dentistry, SMDC organized a one day workshop on “Microsoft Excel”.
The workshop was facilitated by Mr Ghulam Mustafa (Assistant Professor) of industrial chemical.
The facilitator covered basics of Microsoft Excel to very useful and complex formulas, which will help us to make our daily work specially research orientated and data collection very easy.

A lecture on ‘Character Building’ was arranged by College of Dentistry on the occasion of orientation of House officers for the batch of 2020-21. The guest speaker, Mr. Abdur Razzaq motivated the students to follow the moral values that are not culturally, politically, or socially biased. Character building encompasses everyone and is indispensable to human life. The speaker persuaded the young audience to follow the fundamentals of character building that includes trustworthiness, respect, honesty, responsibility and compassion. These ethical values later define a person and are crucial for success in life. The attendees were inspired by the lecture and acknowledged the importance of the topic.

College of Dentistry is always finding new ways to recognize the employees for a job well done. The dedicated and committed staff at College of Dentistry goes above and beyond, each and every day, to provide the highest quality care to the patients. To acknowledge this, a ceremony was conducted in order to honor the best employees, for the month of June 2020 and July 2020.

College of Dentistry, Sharif Medical & Dental College updated their business hours.

A workshop on “Basics of SPSS & graph generation in Microsoft Excel” was organized on 22nd July 2020 (Wednesday) with an aim to expose the participants towards simple and exhaustive ways of data analysis through interactive and practice-based sessions along with theoretical learning. This workshop was also intended to help participants in sharpening their analytical skill through SPSS & Excel.

Online teaching is different than traditional teaching. New competencies are necessary beyond what is required in traditional face to face teaching. For this purpose, an interactive, hands-on workshop was conducted in College of Dentistry on 27th June 2020 for training the faculty members to use different e-learning resource applications for lecture, assessment and assignments.

The moral development of medical students should be given primary importance. Evidence suggests that their moral development may be stunted or even experience a deterioration. The moral development of medical students includes educating them on ethical behaviors also. Ethical behaviors integrates moral sensitivity, moral commitment and moral behavior with moral reasoning. To emphasize the importance of imparting moral and ethical values in medical and dental students making a transition into healthcare professionals a lecture was organized ''Moral & Ethical values in the light of Quran & Sunnah''
