Dr. Theresa Thompson Chaudhry, Professor, Department of Economics inaugurated Lahore School of Economics Mother and Child Health care Centre at 10.00 am on Wednesday 22nd November, 2023 at Lahore School’s Burki campus comprising the Agriculture Economics Research Center and the Health and Sports Complex (spread across 70 acres and 12 acres respectively).

The Center will primarily be providing preventive care to all our Support Staff and their families as well as tracking their health record.

Inaugural ceremony included families of 10 Lahore School Support Staff members. Faculty and Administrative Staff also participated in the event. The highlight of the day were medical check ups and fresh farm fruit treats for nourishment.

Dr. Shahid Amjad Chaudhry, Rector of Lahore School of Economics signed a "Framework of Cooperation” with Planning & Development Board, Govt. of the Punjab to engage in collab. research endeavours, with Lahore School providing research capabilities, in aid the facilitation of robust, evidence-based policy development.

Mr. Syed Tajammul Hussain has a Double Majors degree in Finance and Marketing from Lahore School of Economics and a Specialization in Data Science from John Hopkins University with focus on the application of neural networks.

Lahore School Association of Trade Specialists

The Lahore School Alumni Relations Office organized an Alumni Meet specifically for the Lahore School Association of Trade Specialists. The event took place on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the Main Barki Campus in TRC 5.

The purpose of the Alumni Meet was to bring together alumni who pursued careers in Trade and provide them with an opportunity to reconnect with their alma mater and fellow alumni. The platform was also used for creating a discussion on the ways towards increasing the exports of Pakistan as well as a platform for networking, sharing experiences, and fostering professional relationships within trade sector.

During the Alumni Meet our prestigious Alumnus ,Mr Fahad Gundra, Class of 2006 Chief Operating Officer Taj Mahal group of Industries and Mr Fawad Khan,Executive MBA 2011 business development head meter manufacturing plant(export) Sui Southern Gas pipeline presented on ways that exports can be increased in Pakistan. Both the participants shared their knowledge and vision regarding the state of exports.

Alumni also shared their experiences and suggestions for increasing the exports of Pakistan. The discussion included the lack of a conducive policy and environment regarding exports. In addition, Alumni shared their experiences regarding the import ban and its implications on their export production .They highlighted that the high foreign exchange interbank market differential had slowed down the process of getting imported raw material and vendors were uncertain about the ever-changing exchange rate.

Lahore School Alumni Achievements

We are delighted to announce that our alumna Dr. Nida Jamil will be joining the University of Edinburgh (amongst the world’s top 25 universities, according to the world QS university ranking) as an Early Career Researcher. She will be a part of the teaching faculty and the research team in the Economics department.

She graduated with the degree of B.Sc in Economics - Class of 2011 & MPhil Economics - Class of 2014 from Lahore School of Economics.
Later on she pursued her PhD in Economics in which she got a distinction. Her job market paper got published in one of the leading development journals of the world, the Journal of Development Economics.

The Alumni Relations Office at Lahore School recently organized an Alumni Meet specifically for the Lahore School Association of Bankers and Financial Analysts.

The event took place on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the Main Library of Lahore School Barki Campus.

During the Alumni Meet for the Lahore School Association of Bankers and Financial Analysts, one of the highlights was a presentation by Dr. Azam Chaudhry on the State of Pakistan Economy. Dr. Chaudhry shared insights and estimates from the Lahore School of Economics macro model for Pakistan.

According to the macro model, the projected GDP growth for the fiscal year July 2022 to June 2023 (FY2023) was 0.82 percent. However, this projection indicated a weakening of the annual growth rate due to two quarters of falling GDP growth.

The purpose of the Alumni Meet was to bring together alumni who pursued careers in banking and financial analysis and provide them with an opportunity to reconnect with their alma mater and fellow alumni. It served as a platform for networking, sharing experiences, and fostering professional relationships within the banking and financial sector.
