The cabinet and members of QPSS are pleased to congratulate their Advisor, Dr. Fouzia Ghani on ascending professorship. She is the first female in the history of the department to attain this coveted position. She already made history earlier this year when she became the first female to lead the department in its almost 60 years of existence. The QPSS family looks forward to continuing to benefit from her sagacity and acumen and use her experience as a guide in taking QPSS to new heights. We once again congratulate, Dr. Ghani on her promotion and wish her well in her future endeavors.

It is a matter of great pride for the faculty and students of the department that Dr. Fauzia Ghani has been promoted to the position of Professor. She is the first woman in the history of the Department of Political Science to attain this position. Earlier this year, she also became the first woman to be appointed as the Chairperson of the Department of Political Science at GC University, Lahore. Dr. Ghani’s academic and professional career is spanned over two decades. She is revered by the local and international academic circles. She is present on different statute bodies of various national higher education institutions. She is serving as the member of editorial boards of numerous national and international research journals. She has a remarkable research profile. She is also a HEC approved PhD supervisor. Above all, she is loved by her students, who adore her for her motherly affection and her remarkable grip over her subject area. She has not only inspired generations of students but also academics through her sheer hard work and dedication. We congratulate Dr. Ghani on achieving this personal milestone and wish her more success and continued upward spiral in her professional life.

An Orientation Session was organized for the newly admitted students of MPhil Political Science (Session 2023-2025). Students were introduced to the faculty and Program Coordinator. The faculty and the Department Chair explained to the students the objectives and the requisites of the MPhil program and the subjects they would be offered. The students were also briefed about the University's Code of Conduct. Controller of Examination and Chief Librarian also participated in the session and talked about their departments. At the end of the session, the chair formally welcomed the students to the department on behalf of the students and faculty and wished them well on their new academic journey.

The Department kickstarted the Orientation Week for the newly admitted students of the 2023-2027 batch with an interactive session with the faculty, where the faculty and the students introduced themselves. Senior faculty members appraised the newly admitted students about the department's history, traditions, and values and how they should conduct themselves.
In the second part of the session, the honorable Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi graced the interactive session. In his talk, the honorable Vice Chancellor explained what is expected of the young entrants and informed them about the university's code of conduct. He encouraged the students to work hard and strive for individual excellence and while doing that become the best ambassadors of their department and institution. The first day of the Orientation week ended after the Honorable Vice-Chancllor's address.

GCU Dramatics Club-GCDC is performing a play in Urdu “پلیٹ فارم نمبر۱۳” on the occasion of UN DAY FOR OLDER PEOPLE.

I’m delighted to share the schedule to hold the 22nd Convocation of the Government College University Lahore. We shall confer the PhD, M.Phil, MS, and BS degrees in the three separate sessions from the 28th to 30th of September, 2023. The full dress rehearsal of the inaugural session shall be held on the 27th September.

All the prospective graduates are expected to prepare themselves for the occasion. Some highly respected dignitaries are scheduled to grace the occasion and make your graduation memorable. We shall also confer Lifetime Achievement Awards on some of the outstanding alumni who made invaluable contributions in their respective fields of interest.

The nominees for the Co-curricular Medals shall be interviewed by a panel of distinguished academics led by me on the 23rd and 24th September. The students are also advised to seek clearance from the relevant quarters to be able to receive their degrees at the forthcoming Convocation without any inconvenience.

Looking forward to celebrating the accomplishments of our students in the realm of academics, research , sports and co-curricular activities.
