Directorate of Sports of Mirpur University hosted Handball Trails under Prime Minister Talent Hunt Youth Sports League at City Campus

At the culmination of Prime Minister Youth Sports League Talent Hunt (Handball Trails), Mr. Muhammad Akmal Hussain Director Sports, University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila was called on Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI (M), Vice Chancellor Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K at MUST Secretariat Jari Kas.

Mr. Muhammad Akmal, Director Sports UET presented Chief Guest Shield to Brigadier Younus Javed, Vice Chancellor MUST, Director also handed over Shields of honour to Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khalique, Chief Finance Officer MUST, Mr. Daud Ali Siddique, SPS to Vice Chancellor & Mr. Abid Hussain, Director Sports of Mirpur University for providing conducive environment for Prime Minister Youth Sports League Talent Hunt, Handball Trails. On the occasion Brigadier Younus Javed handed over University Shield to Mr. Muhammad Akmal Director Sports UET / Member Selection Committee of Sports Trials. Closing ceremony of the Handball Trails was presided by Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Director, Faculty of MUST Business School.

Brigadier (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI (M), Vice Chancellor Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K along with Principle Officers, Deans and Directors warmly welcomed Chaudhary Muhammed Akhtar Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Founder Chairman Kashmir Orphans Relief Trust (KORT) during his visit to the City Campus of Mirpur University on Thursday, January 11, 2024.

Brigadier Younus Javed & Chaudhary Muhammad Akhtar inaugurated Wheelchair Ramp & Water Filtration Plant at City Campus; facilities are generously donated by Kashmir Orphans Relief Trust. It is pertinent to highlight here that so far KORT has constructed five (05) Wheelchair Ramps at City Campus, Two (02) Waiting Sheds for Students at Jari Kas & Two (02) Water Filtration Plants one each at Jari Kas & City Campus of MUST, Mirpur AJ&K.

Brigadier Younus Javed, Vice Chancellor MUST, Mirpur AJ&K expressed gratitude to Chaudhary Muhammed Akhtar, Founder Chairman KORT for his invaluable support, significant contribution and services for Mirpur University especially for making MUST the first Wheelchair-Accessible University in AJ&K. He also congratulated Chaudhary Akhtar in connection with winning of the Sheikh Zayed Sustainability Award by KORT students' a prestigious honor of carrying prize of 150,000 US Dollars. Likewise Chaudhry Akhtar reciprocated his sincere sentiments and expressed his aspiration for MUST, which emerged as the first University in Azad Jammu and Kashmir being fully equipped with all necessary facilities for special students.

Brigadier Younus Javed & Chaudhary Muhammad Akhtar commended Dr. Khuram Pervez Amber for his dedicated & selfless volunteer services for KORT and efforts for strengthening the enduring bond between both institutions. A one day workshop on “Research Grants Mentorship” was organized by the Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) at the NTC conference room, CS&IT block, Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur Azad Kashmir. The workshop focused on key strategies for successfully securing research grants. Topics included crafting compelling proposals, aligning projects with funders’ priorities, and establishing a strong research team. Participants engaged in practical exercises to enhance grant writing skills and learned effective communication techniques to convey the significance of their research. Additionally, the workshop emphasized building collaborative networks and staying informed about funding opportunities to maximize success in the competitive grant landscape.

Prof. Dr. Faisal Riaz, Director ORIC, delivered key notes as the resource person for the workshop. The workshop captured an audience from various departments which included respectable faculty members and graduate students.The workshop ended with a vote of thanks in favour of Prof. Dr. Faisal Riaz. ORIC is determined to continue the series of workshops to enhance the project proposals submission ratio to maximize the winning probability.

The National Technology Council (NTC) Pakistan visited Mirpur Institute of Technology, MUST for an Interim visit of Architectural Engineering Technology program from 2nd to 3rd January 2024. The delegation of National Technology Council (NTC) Pakistan team lead by Prof. Dr. Ayub Elahi (Team Lead), Prof. Dr. Shahid Iqbal (Expert) & Hafiz Ghulam Muhammad representative, NTC Pakistan paid two-days visit to Mirpur Institute of Technology (MIT) / Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur from 2nd -3rd January 2024 for interim visit of Undergraduate Architectural Engineering Technology program.

Prof. Dr. Anwar Khitab, Dean Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, Prof. Dr. Naeem Iqbal Ratyal, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Dr. Tasleem Kausar, Director MIT MUST warm welcome to esteemed members of the delegation of National Technology Council on their arrival at MUST Secretariat Jari kass. Prof. Dr. Naeem Iqbal Ratyal, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology briefed the delegation regrading land & infrastructure, departments & running programs, research publications of faculty members & status of PhD faculty, admission policies, curricular & and co-curricular activities, health & sports facilities, professional development programs of faculty & administrative staff.
After the presentation, the Convener of visitation team along with NTC representative visited the wings MIT Department and the general facilities of the institution (Classrooms, Labs, Examination Halls, Libraries, Cafeterias, Sports Complex, hostels & allied facilities) and thoroughly reviewed the implementation of OBE system with evidence on nine main criteria. Team of National Technology Council showed satisfaction and suggested some minor improvements as part of continuous quality improvement.

The council team had a meeting with Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI, Vice Chancellor Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K and appreciated for running the successful degree program and suggested the improvements in the system. The visit concluded with a positive note of encouragement and appreciation.

VC MUST, Mirpur Assumed the Charge of the Vice Chancellor University of Bhimber

MUST, Mirpur AJ&K attains Prestigious Level-II Accreditation for Three Consecutive Years (batches) from (PEC) for its Engineering Programs
Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur AJ&K is pleased to announce a significant milestone as the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has awarded Level-II accreditation (Washington Accord) to all five engineering programs offered by the university. The accreditation spans various departments, including Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer System Engineering, and Software Engineering. The Departments of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering have received a commendable three-year level-II accreditation for the batches 2019, 2020, and 2021. Meanwhile, the Departments of Computer System Engineering and Software Engineering have secured a two-year level-II accreditation for the batches 2019 and 2020.

This achievement marks a historic moment for MUST, as it is the first time in the university’s history that the Pakistan Engineering Council has conferred Level-II accreditation for three consecutive years, covering three batches. Notably, MUST stands as the sole university in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) to attain this prestigious three years level-II accreditation. Prof. Dr. Naeem Iqbal Ratyal attributes this accomplishment to the dynamic leadership of Vice Chancellor MUST, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed. Dr. Naeem extends congratulations to the entire faculty and staff for their dedication and hard work.
In response to this remarkable achievement, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed, Vice Chancellor of MUST, expressed his congratulations to Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Heads of Departments (HoDs), faculty members, staff, and students. He further said, it’s a proud moment for our faculty, our students and indeed for our whole AJ&K region. The Prime Minister Youth Laptop Scheme, an initiative under Prime Minister’s Youth Program is being executed by the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad. The Project aims to provide free of cost laptops and all allied opportunities to the young and talented students studying in public sector Higher Education Institutions across the country. The Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur AJ&K initially received 595 laptops as part of a laptop distribution scheme. Subsequently, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed, SI(M) and the Students Assistance Centre (SAC) Office Director Engr. Dr Naveed Akram requested an increase in the laptop count from 595 to 674. Team of HEC visited Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur AJ&K for distribution of laptops under PM Youth Laptop Scheme. A ceremony regarding distribution of laptops among awardees of PM Youth Laptop Scheme was held in the office of Dean Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences. The chief guest of the ceremony was HEC Representative Mr. Asad Mehmood and Mr. Abdul Jabbar. The chief guest appreciated efforts of SAC for facilitating students of MUST. It is reported that all 674 laptops have been successfully distributed among students.

Advanced Studies and Research Board (AS&RB) holds it's 15th Meeting
The 15th meeting of the Advanced studies and research board (AS&RB), was held on 28/12/2023 in city campus, MUST. The meeting was attended by Prof Dr. Anwar Khitab, Director ASRB and other Board members and observers. The meeting started with recitation of verses from Holy Quraan. The meeting was concluded after discussion of all the agenda items. All the members were thanked for the valuable suggestions and feedback.

AJ&K Minister for Health Nisar Ansar Abdali and Turkiye Envoy visited Office of the Vice Chancellor of Mirpur University to inaugurate TIKA's gifted Climate Change Research Center, Herbarium & Biodiversity Conservation Laboratory at Bhimber Campus

Minister for Health Nisar Ansar Abdali in the esteemed company of Mr. Mushin BALCI , Country Head of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Mr. Mehmat Toyran, Education Counsellor of the Embassy of Turkeya, Dr. Amir Sultan Program Leader National Herbarium NARC, Islamabad and Syed Aftab Hussain Bukhari, CEO, HCRDP visited MUST Secretariat Jari Kas on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. The delegation was warmly received by Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI (M), Vice Chancellor Mirpur University alongside Prof. Dr. Khizer ul Haq, Registrar MUST & Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khalique, Chief Finance Officer.

Following an interactive session at the Office of Vice Chancellor the delegation proceeded to Bhimber Campus of Mirpur University and inaugurated Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency's gifted Climate Change Research Center, Herbarium and Biodiversity Conservation Laboratory to the Department of Botany. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ishtiaq Chairman Department of Botany and Dr. Abid Hussain Dean Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (FV&AS) / Coordinator Bhimber Campus thoroughly briefed on the campus and ongoing projects with a particular focus on the advancements within the Botany Department. Event was attended by District Administration, Faculty Members and students of Bhimber Campus.

International Workshop on Digitilization in China
Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Science and Technology, The Peoples Rebuplic of China conducted a 15 days workshop in Sichuan Province.

Engr. Dr. Sohaib Manzoor Lecturer Department of Electrical Engineering/ Manager Innovation and Commercialization, ORIC, was invited to the workshop considering his research on futuristic wireless networks. Dr. Sohaib Manzoor has paid special thanks to the worthy Vice Chancellor of Mirpur University of Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younas Javed S.I. (M) for his broader vision of international cooperation of MUST with top ranked international universities.

Engr. Dr. Sohaib Manzoor had a chance to visit more than 5 Universities and Research Centers in Sichuan Province where he introduced the pedagogical methods used in Pakistan and opened the road to the bilateral cooperation between Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST) and Xihua University on Smart Agriculture using Modern Wireless Techniques.

The bilateral cooperation includes research exchange, commercialization aspects and exhange of enhanced pedagogical methods among the two institutions.

Dr. Sohaib Manzoor was honoured by the Ministry of Science and Technology, China, with a souvenir, and in the concluding remarks Dr. Sohaib Manzoor thanked the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Science and Technology, The Peoples Republic of China, The Government of Pakistan and his parent institution Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST) for inviting him and allowing him to represent Pakistan on an important issue of Digitilization through an International Platform.

Ignite National Technology Fund hosted its 3rd Digital Pakistan Cybersecurity Workshop 2023 all over Pakistan & first ever at Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K which aims to assist in improving cybersecurity readiness, protection and incident response capabilities of the country by conducting cyber drills at the national level. The workshop is designed with a dual purpose, as a platform for cooperation, information sharing and discussions on current cybersecurity issues as well as to provide hands on experience and learning for National cybersecurity resources.

Ignite National Technology Fund is a premier National organization dedicated to promoting an innovation and research commercialization ecosystem across Pakistan. It is focused on making Pakistan a player in the knowledge economy by supporting startups focused on 4th industrial wave technologies and by addressing gaps in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Cybersecurity is key to achieving the 4th industrial revolution. Keeping in view the importance of Cybersecurity Dr. Sohaib Manzoor Manager Innovation and Commercialization/Lecturer Department of Electrical Engineering grabbed the opportunity for budding talent by organizing Digital Pakistan Cybersecurity Hands-on Workshops 2023 at Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K.

Vice Chairman & Secretary Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) visit Law Department of Mirpur University to Ensure Compliance with PBC Education Rules 2015
The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) inspection team, led by Vice Chairman Mr. Haroon ur Rashid and Secretary Mr. Gulzar Ahmed, undertook a comprehensive inspection visit to the Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur AJ&K. The primary objective of this visit was to assess the university’s compliance with the “PBC Legal Education Rules, 2015” and to ensure the quality of legal education provided to students.

During their visit, the inspection team meticulously examined various aspects of the institution, including infrastructure, physical facilities, the Law Library, Computer Lab, classrooms, and the Law Faculty both permanent and visiting. This scrutiny is essential to maintain high standards of legal education in accordance with the regulations set forth by the Pakistan Bar Council.

MUST Inks Memorandum of Understanding with Character Education Foundation (CEF) to boost cooperation in Quranic, Character & Community Education
Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI (M), Vice Chancellor Mirpur University of Science and Technology, MUST, Mirpur AJ&K & Mahmood Ahmed, Chairman of Character Education Foundation (CEF) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish cooperative linkage between MUST, Mirpur AJ&K and CEF to enhance faculty development and students’ learning tools in Quranic, Character and Community Education. The platform will serve as a foundation for potential future projects to be developed by both parties & under the umbrella of subject MoU, future agreements to support related initiatives will also materialise.

Integration of Quranic and Community Education into the University Credit System, Specialization of University’s Faculty members in Quranic & Community Education as well as in Character Building, development of a shared model for entrepreneurial projects, advancement of Quranic Education by enabling students enrolled in the BS program with a solid understanding of basic Quranic Grammar, facilitating their comprehension of the Holy Quran and entrusting them to draw guidance for personal and societal development and inducing 21st Century skills in students by involving them in community-level activities resulting into their holistic development are core objectives of the MoU.

Breast Cancer Awareness Walk
Brigadier Younus Javed, VC MUST, Mirpur AJ&K, in demonstration of commitment to the noble cause, inaugurated Pink Ribbon campaign and led the "Breast Cancer Awareness Walk" to galvanise the spirit & give hope against the disease which is spreading at alarming rate in Pakistan

The Pink Ribbon Ceremony organised by the Department of Mathematics of Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K was inaugurated by Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI (M), Vice Chancellor of Mirpur University in the City Campus on Friday, October 20, 2023. Inaugural ceremony was followed by Breast Cancer Awareness Walk & a Seminar in Science Block.

Speaking on the occasion Brigadier Younus Javed appreciated the initiative of Dr. Rashida Hussain for holding awareness programme on one of the very most neglected, overlooked & underprioritised health problems of Pakistan. Vice Chancellor stressed the significance of early detection which can increases the chances of successful treatment, encouraged regular screenings, self-examinations, denounced associated myths & misconceptions with subject disease and shared various examples of patients who were suffering from Breast Cancer & struggles which they faced in way of treatment.
