World Hepatitis Day.

World Hepatitis Day is celebrated each year on the 28th of July.

Hepatitis is the "Inflammation of the liver" due to the attack by a virus simply called the hepatitis virus.

There are various forms of hepatitis and each has a particular route of transmission and respective virus. The 5 different forms of Hepatitis are namely Hepatitis A,B,C,D and E.
"A and E" are relatively milder forms and subside easily.
While B and C, are the most prevalent forms present among Pakistani population.

Chief Complaints of patients include vomiting, nausea, jaundice, joint pains, weakness, loss of appetite etc.
According to a WHO estimate of 2019, worldwide ; 296 Million people are living with Hepatitis B, 58 Million with Hepatitis C, 3 Million people newly affected with Chronic Hepatitis B and C.
1.1 Million deaths occur due to Hepatitis B and C.
Moreover,
•Pakistan has the second highest global burden of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, with 5% of the population infected (ie, 8 million people). Over eight million people in Pakistan are living with hepatitis C.

Prevention is always better than cure. Hepatitis can be prevented by vaccination and better life style.
There are safe and effective vaccines that can prevent hepatitis A and B (but not for types C, D, or E). There is also a combination vaccine that guards against hepatitis A and B.

If we work for its awareness, we may be able to save thousands of lives and help build a Hepatitis free world soon. ✨
