Vaccines are dead or small quantity of alive pathogens that stimulates our immune system against the particular pathogens.. So, whenever this pathogens comes to attack our body, our body is ready for the response and kills it before it causes us any diseases.. Wasn't it an amazing idea of developing vaccines..? Whose idea was it do you know..?

It was English Physician EDWARD JENNER to first develop vaccination for smallpox.. He developed this process back in 1796 and today thousands of vaccines are developed all because of his amazing idea..

Hey Med Student! Do you know who's the father of the medicine? Your Guesses are most probably wrong.
The father of Medicine is the Greek HIPPOCRATES. Do you know more about Hippocrates? He was the one with the idea of doctors role in the society and institutionalizing medical studies. Also the Hippocratic Oath that we all take as we join the med school came from this man. He was the world's first Chest Surgeon. Means there were no chest surgeries before this man, and people had died due to minor diseases which are today cured with minor surgeries.

This was all we knew about Hippocrates, If you know anything more do share with us in comment, and don't forget to mention your med students friends so they can also see these interesting facts they didn't know about medicine.

Diabetes Made Simple:

Diabetes is a condition in which body can't make energy from the food a person eats the way it normally should. Why so? What changes happen in body that leads to this condition.

Let's learn!

Before diving deep into what happens during diabetes, let's first learn what normally happens in our body. Whenever we eat food, it travels through our digestive system and gets digested and broken down into smaller pieces of molecules which are named Glucose, Amino acids or fatty acids and other fats.

In diabetes we have nothing to do with others but our matter is only Glucose. Then, let's discuss Glucose only and leave rest for discussion sometimes else. So this digested Glucose the from our digestive tract moves into our blood. Whenever the blood glucose level raises, the Organ in our body named Pancreas releases a hormone named as Insulin. This Insulin works as a gatekeeper for the Glucose. It opens up the channels on cell membranes of cells to let Glucose enter from the blood into the cells. And in the cells the glucose is further broken down to achieve energy from it, which cells use for different of its functions.

This was what happens in normal conditions, now let us tell you what occurs in diabetes.

In diabetes, either the pancreas becomes malfunction and doesn't produce enough Insulin to push Glucose into the cells from the blood (Type 1 Diabetes) or enough Insulin is produced by the Pancreas but the Insulin can't push the Glucose into the cells due to any reason (Type 2 Diabetes).

So, in both these conditions we can see that blood concentration of Glucose is increased. Increased blood Glucose causes change in the blood vessels either making them enlarge or making them smaller which leads to serious health problems like heart diseases, vision loss, kidneys disorder etc.

This is a pic of GMC Gujranwala captured by Usama Maood a final year student studying there, on an usual evening.. How much beauty in a single pic..

A beautiful building of college campus besides which stands the amazing 500+ bedded hospital.. An orangy sky, an eye-catching sunset. Surrounded by amazing greenery..

I wouldn't be wrong to say if not lacs there would definitely be thousands whose mouth waters seeing such aesthetic views of medical colleges..

But, when among them when few are selected in this and other such colleges are seemed complaining always.. Sometimes complaining of their studies, other times of less enjoyments, sometimes they say hell about their college, for which they've burnt their mid night fuels to get admission into and prayed to God to get admitted in..

I don't say dreaming and expecting better is bad, but be thankful and grateful for what you have got, for which once you've dreamt, for which thousands dream becomes a dream only..

So, to whoever reading this, a medical student in such a college or a MDCAT aspirant, Be thankful when you get into it.. Complain lesser when you are there.. Thousands dream to be in the place you are in..

Medical Studies are hard, But it will be too sample or much sampler if we understand what we read!

I know many of med student say, There are too much informations which only needs to be crammed.. No understanding, No Concepts!

But, I disagree!

I also thought the same before, But I no more think this..

Most of the average med student like me, don't know what we are studying.. For example if I'm reading an artery of a limb, I must then know this artery is a branch kr continuation of a larger artery which eventually is arising from Heart..

Most average med students can't connect/relate things.. If we don't relate things it becomes too much difficult for us to cram them.. The only way cramming such a big syllabus is understanding and connecting things..

There are students, who if read a nerve in arm, but is only coursing through the arm and supplying forearm or hand, when reads the same nerve in forearm or hand chapter forget that this nerve was arising from Brachial Plexus and is coursing through the arm to reach the forearm.. They think this is some other nerve, or don't know what they think but, can't relate their prior knowledge to what they are studying currently..

So, anyone studying medicine should try to relate whatever information they've no matter where they read it to what they're studying currently.. This becomes much helpful, Saying from experience..

NOTE: *THIS POST IS ONLY MY WAY OF THINKING AND FOR ONLY AVERAGE STUDENTS, NOT BRIGHT ONES, THEY BETTER KNOW HOW THINGS ARE STUDIED!*

All students who got admitted in LMC should arrange and submit these ASAP!

This is the notification of PMC, in which it says it has suspended the recognition of Bahawalpur Medical and Dental College! And in this same notification PMC is guiding the students to not take admission in this institution till it's not recognized.
But,
This only happens for students of Punjab!
In Balochistan, Students are admitted, that also in Public Sector Medical Colleges,
They read there, for 1,2,3 and four years!
Then PMC remembers,
Oh we have Balochistan too in our under!
Then it tells the students after this much time that come, give us a exam for recognition.
A exam which isn't available in PMC's own act!
A exam which no one has given in not only Pakistan but in entire world ig!
Why so?
Why double policies?
If you see both, The Punjab and Balochistan equally, then why different rules for both of them?
Why the students from Punjab are relaxed in terms of their studies and guided from the very beginning but for Balochistan the most strictly it imposes rules?

33 yr old Sara Gill Khan became Pakistan's first-ever transgender doctor on Tuesday after passing her MBBS exam.

Her journey has not been an easy one. She joined Jinnah Medical and Dental College in 2010 where she was forced to enroll as a male at the insistence of her parents. They had been worried about the "loss of respect" if others found out, and threatened to stop paying for her education. Which eventually did happen and she had to make ends meet herself. She paid for food, clothing, shelter, everything herself, having days where she could barely afford to have just a single small meal.

She was suicidal.

Things became better when a program selected her for the 'International Visitor Leadership Program' (IVLP). She says it was the first time she was given respect due to her gender.

A completely changed happy person, she says, "No one can stop you from achieving something if you’re passionate about it. There are difficulties in life."
She tells the transgender community not to lose hope and if she can become a doctor, then any of them can too through hard work.

Her parents have also now accepted her after she became a doctor.

Transgenders are routinely thrown out of their homes. They are ridiculed and violence is frequently inflicted on them. I think it is high time, we all changed that and started giving them respect and rights. So there can be more Sara Gills.

Where other medical colleges of Pakistan have started the classes of new 1st year, BMC is still failed to announce the list of the selected students.
Despite, the test of everyone in the country have been on the same time. The question arises, why BMC is so slow?
It's a big mental torture to wait for the list, every moment is like eating you from the inner side.
2ndly, Where every other provinces send their selected students of sister provinces directly in the same year, BMC makes them wait for a complete year or it take even more than a Year.
Why BMC does this is beyond an ordinary person's imaginations.
To add in the reader's knowledge, the sister provinces selected students from Balochistan are the ones who top their tests and are among the top students of their respected divisions.
Hence, BMC makes these topper's behind one year than the ones who have had lesser test scores and aggregates than them.
This makes these students mentally disturbed. Some of these students after waiting so long even have attempted suicidal attempt. BMC needs to resolve this big issue in this year, whatever it does, it's their cup of tea, but no more this issue can be tolerated. Please everyone raise your voice, so that this issue ends for once and for all..

PMC announced that the syllabus for NMDCAT 2022 will be announced at the end of this month.
Further, it also mentioned that there will be changes in the test. They might remove every such stuff from the syllabus which have zero connections with medical.
But, changing the test pattern every year is nothing but creating confusions for aspirants.
PMC should be organized and make everything clear once and for all.
Changing test pattern every single year brings the students in extreme panic.
