The Secretary, Government of Balochistan, Agriculture & Cooperative Department, Mr. Sohail-Ur-Rehman visited Agriculture College Quetta and leading the way towards agricultural development. Productive meeting held at Agriculture College Quetta to discuss the progress and summary of PSDP 2023-24. The Worthy Secretary Government of Balochistan, Agriculture & Cooperative Department, presided over a significant meeting of the Departmental Promotion Committee.

The committee was comprised of members including Mr. Ejaz, Deputy Secretary Regulation, S&GAD, Mr. Azeem Lehri, Deputy Secretary Agriculture Department, Mr. Nadeem Tahir, Registrar Cooperative Societies, Mr. Abdul Bari Kasi, Under Secretary Regulation-I Finance Department, and Mr. Anjum Bashir, Section Officer Establishment III Agriculture Department.

Worthy Secretary Government of Balochistan, Agriculture Visits Agriculture Research Institute
Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan – December 6, 2023 –

Mr. Sohail Ur Rehman, the Worthy Secretary Government of Balochistan, Agriculture & Cooperatives Department, visited the Agriculture Research Institute (ARI) today to inspect the institute's facilities along with Abdul Ghafoor Buzdar, Section Officer Establishment (II) and Mr. Anjum Bashir Section Officer Establishment (III), Agriculture Department.

Upon his arrival, the Secretary was warmly greeted by the Chief Scientific Officer,
Mr. Abdul Raoof, along with all the ARI directors.
During his visit, Mr. Sohail Rehman engaged in detailed discussions with the institute's directors, gaining insights into the diverse range of activities undertaken by each directorate. He expressed particular interest in the institute's efforts to cultivate saffron, a high-value cash crop with immense potential for Balochistan's economy.

"Saffron is an invaluable crop that holds the promise of significantly transforming Balochistan's agricultural landscape," remarked Director Special Crops, Mr. Shakeel. "Our team is diligently working to develop saffron varieties that thrive under local climatic conditions and to refine saffron cultivation practices."
Mr. Rehman embarked on a tour of the institute's facilities, including the soil & water Testing Laboratory, Fruit Orchards, and Special Crops Laboratory. He was thoroughly impressed by the institute's state-of-the-art infrastructure and the unwavering dedication of its staff. Director Soil & Water Testing, Mr. Ghulam Muhammad, and Deputy Director Mr. Hidayatuullah provided the Secretary with a comprehensive overview of the institute's soil and water testing services.

"The ARI is playing a pivotal role in bolstering agricultural development across Balochistan. I am unwavering in my commitment to providing the institute with the necessary resources to continue its exceptional work."
Recognizing the critical role of water availability in agricultural success,

Worthy Secretary pledged to address the institute's water shortage by facilitating the installation of additional tube wells. Additionally, he announced his intention to conduct weekly visits to the institute, dedicating each visit to a specific directorate.

Warmly received by Mr. Syed Bashir Agha, Director General of Agricultural Engineering, Balochistan, and introduced to the senior officers and provided a detailed briefing on the department’s performance.

The meeting took place at the Chief Minister’s Office in Quetta between Hon,able Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir. Ali Mardan Domki and Worthy Secretary, Agriculture & Cooprative Department, Mr. Sohail-ur-Rehman.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Balochistan and Secretary Agriculture & Cooperative Department government of Balochistan discussed various issues and challenges faced by the agricultural sector in the province.

They emphasized the need for comprehensive planning and effective implementation of strategies to improve the productivity and profitability of agriculture in Balochistan.

The Chief Minister Balochistan highlighted the importance of providing necessary support and resources to farmers, including access to modern technology, improved irrigation systems, and quality seeds. He emphasized the need for capacity building programs and training initiatives to enhance the skills and knowledge of farmers in adopting modern agricultural practices.

Worthy Secretary Agriculture & Cooperative Department government of Balochistan Mr. Sohail-ur-Rehman presented a detailed analysis of the current state of agriculture in Balochistan and proposed several initiatives to address the existing challenges. These initiatives included the establishment of agricultural research and development centers, promotion of organic farming, and the introduction of modern farming techniques.

Hon’able Chief Minister Balochistan, and the Secretary Agriculture & Cooperative Department government of Balochistan agreed on the significance of collaboration with national and international organizations to bring in expertise and resources for the development of the agricultural sector. They also stressed the importance of engaging youth in agriculture and creating opportunities for them to contribute to the sector’s growth.

Hon,able Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir. Ali Mardan Domki expressed his commitment to providing all necessary support and resources to the agriculture department to ensure the successful implementation of the proposed strategies. He emphasized the need for regular monitoring and evaluation of the initiatives to measure their impact and make necessary adjustments.

The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding and commitment to work together for the betterment and future development of the agricultural sector, contributing to the economic growth and prosperity of the province.

سیکرٹری زراعت نے کہا ہے کہ زمینداروں کوگندم کے بیج کی تقسیم کا عمل بڑی تیزی سے جاری ہے ا ور جاری رہے گا۔یہ بات انہوں نےڈپٹی کمشنر موسی خیل ریاض احمد سے ایک ملاقات کے دوران کہی۔ڈپٹی کمشنر موسی خیل ریاض احمد نے صوبائی سیکرٹری کو بریفینگ دیتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ گندم کے بیج کی تقسیم منصفانہ طریقے سے جاری ہے اور زمینداروں نے بڑی خوشی کا اظہار کیا ہے اور انہوں نے صوبائی گورنمنٹ کا شکریہ ادا کیا ہےکہ ہمیں بر وقت گندم کے بییج فراہم کئے گئے ہیں اور ہم نے بوائی بھی شروع کردی ہے۔ڈی سی موسی خیل نے کہا ہے کہ تقسیم کا مکمل طریقہ کار مکمل چھان بین اور تمام تقاضے پورے کر کےبیج فراہم کئے جا رہے ہیں۔سیکرٹری زراعت امید علی کھو کھر نے کہا ہے کہ وزیر اعلی بلوچستان عبدالقدوس بزنجو کی ہدایت کے مطابق میں ذاتی طور پر زمینداروں سے ملکر معلومات حاصل کر رہا ہوں کہ آپ لوگوں کے ساتھ کوئی ذیادتی تو نہیں ہو رہی۔کاشتکاروں نے بتایا کہ ہم محکمہ زراعت اور صوبائی گورنمنٹ کے تہہ دل سے مشکور ہیں کہ انہوں نے بر وقت ہماری مشکلات کا ازالہ کیا ہے۔صوبائی سیکرٹری نے صوبے کے تمام اضلاع میں اپنی زرعی ٹیم کے ساتھ دورے شروع کئے ہیں جو کہ ایک خوش آئند بات ہے۔انہوں نے کہا ہہ کے زمینداروں کی بحالی کے لئےہر ممکن اقدامات کرتے رہیںنگےاور گندم کے بیج کی تقسیم کے عمل کو شفاف رکھا جائیگا اور جہاں پر زمینداروں کو کوئی مشکلات در پیش ہونگی انکے مسائل فوری طور پر حل کرنے کی پوری کوشش کی جائیگی۔گندم کے بیج کی مفت تقسیم کے عمل کو شفاف رکھا جائیگا۔صوبائی سیکرٹری بارکھان موسی خیل کا دورہ مکمل کر کے رات گئے ڑوب پہنچ گئے۔ڑوب میں انکا استقبال ڑوب کی معروف شخصیت محمد عیسی مندوخیل،عبدوالرحیم مندوخیل ومحکمہ کے آفیسران نے کیا۔اس موقع پر صوبائی سیکرٹری کے ہمراہ ڈائریکٹر جنرل عبدالوہاب توسیع ڈائریکٹر جنرل ریسرچ انعام الحق ڈائریکٹر جنرل انجینئرنگ بشیر آغا،ملک اسد خجک و دیگر آفیسران بھی موجود تھے۔
