S*x Determination in Human :

Human cells contain a total of 23 pairs of chromosomes.

Twenty-two of these determine the characteristics of body cells and are called autosome.

The chromosomes of each autosome pair are homologous.The remaining two chromosomes determine the s*x of an individual and are called s*x chromosomes. A female has two X chromosomes (XX) and a male has one X and one Y chromosome (XY).

During the development of male and female reproductive cells a special type of cell division occur called meiosis. Each s***m contain 22 autosome and X or Y chromosome, and an o**m contain 22 autosome and X chromosomes. When the o**m is fertilized by the s***m the resultant zygote contain the full diploid number of chromosomes (46).

An unborn error of metabolism is a generic disorder in which a specific enzyme is affected, producing a metabolic block, which may have pathological consequences. These disorders include phenylketonuria, cystinuria, pentosuria, albinism, etc.

The s*x of human is determined by the s***m. If an X-bearing s***m fertilizes an o**m, the s*x of the human will be female (XX). If a Y- earing s***m fertilizes the o**m, s*x will be male (XY).
The cell division of other body cells is called mitosis and during this process the chromosomes divide in such a way that diploid number (46) of chromosomes is maintained in each cell.
