Here’s the pictures from our “Turn Trash Into Art Installation” that happened from Feb 11 to Feb 20 at the Millennium Mall Quetta! ♥️

Trash Art is a form of sustainable art that highlights the degradation of the planet and our immediate attention to maximize the impact creation.

Watch artist how artist Mohib Ul Hasnain and team created sculptures from trash and displayed them at Millennium Mall Quetta raising awareness amongst the general public about the impact of environmental pollution.

The trash art installation is organized by SEED In partnership with Philip Morris International.

Trash Art Installation Exhibition happening on Friday in Quetta. A first of it’s groundbreaking kind in Quetta. Stay tuned for updates coming up shortly! 🙌

The world today we live in is on the verge of environmental catastrophe. The destruction mainly occurs because of the pollution and consumerism, and we humans, the biggest danger to the Mother Nature, are to be blamed. The purpose of our “The Awakon Truth” installation is about recycling and nature friendly responsible consumption.

Our art work is a compilation of 3 figurative human body sculptures. 2 of them are of size 5 feet and 1 of them is of size 4 feet. The installation that we made is of trash of all kinds. We have utilised the waste and made the art installations themed "The Awoken Truth”. Art in its nature is very accommodating and diverse it even accepts waste. Our art is a service to society and environment even by utilising things that are disservice to environment and causes unimaginable harms. It is high time to collectively understand the sensitivity of the issue and work for a healthier sustainable future. It is now or never.

Mission Cleaner Pakistan is about raising awareness and taking action in the fight against environmental pollution.

Conversations centered around the issue are an important step towards raising this awareness.

About the speakers:

Dr. Abdul-Sattar Nizami, top 2% Scientists Worldwide, Senior Editor in Renewable & Sustainable Energy Reviews (Elsevier - IF 14.98), Associate Editor in Energy & Environment (Sage - IF 2.95), Associate Editor in Frontiers in Energy Research (Frontiers, IF 4.008), Co-Editor-in-Chief in Elsevier Book Series on Biomass and Biofuels, Selected as Role Model by US Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Fellow of Irish Research Stimulus Fund and Associate Professor at Sustainable Development Study Centre (SDSC), Government College University Lahore, will be the Resource Person for this training program.

Dr. Abdul-Sattar Nizami has Master of Science in Engineering from the Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. He has a Ph.D. in Sustainable Gaseous Biofuel from University College Cork, Ireland. He worked at the University of Toronto, Canada as a Postdoctoral Fellow on alternative fuels and life cycle studies. Later, he served as an Assistant Professor and Head of Solid Waste Management Unit at the Center of Excellence in Environmental Studies (CEES) of King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He has published over 150 papers on renewable energy, alternative fuels, waste-to-energy, catalytic pyrolysis, anaerobic digestion, and resource recovery. He has delivered 36 invited talks to various national and international forums. His work is cited more than 8000 times in the peer-review press, with a total impact factor of more than 800 and H-index of 47. He is actively involved in community and consultation services to various international organizations, including UNEP, World Bank, European Commission based IF@ULB, National Research Agency (NRA) of France, and National Science Centre Poland.

Mr Dawar Butt, is a founding member of Climate Action Pakistan. He has over 5 years of experience in Policy Analysis,
Environmental Research, ESG & Sustainability, Pollution Mitigation, and Public Policy Communications. Having graduated from LUMS and Central European University, Vienna, Dawar Butt also serves as the research manager at Legal Aid Society Pakistan, consultant at sustainable world inc, and analyst at Centre for Research, on Energy and Clean Air (CREA). He also has published papers in his illustrious career.

Dr. Malik Muhammad Akhtar is currently serving as Chairman of the department Environmental Science, faculty of Life Science and Informatics at BUITEMS University, Quetta. He started his career in 2014 as PostDoc Research at China University of Geosciences, Wuhan,China after his PhD and moved to department of Environmental Management and Policy, BUITEMS as Assistant Professor and joined as Chairman of the department Environmental Science in 2017, and promoted as Associate Professor in the discipline of Environmental Science in 2021.
Now he has about 15 years of professional experience including research and teaching and research in local, national and international universities.
He has supervised 2 PhD scholars and 11 MS theses at BUITEMS, Quetta. He has published over 30 publications including 25 research articles in Impact factor national and international journals recognized by HEC. He is PhD approved supervisor from HEC, Pakistan. At BUITEMS, he served on more than 15 committees of BUITEMS dealing with management and administrative affairs of the university. He has participated in four international projects funded by Geological Survey of China, ACIAR and ADP and completed 7 research projects as PI and CO-PI funded by NRPU-HEC, ORIC-HEC, and NCPC. His research area are GIS and Remote Sensing applications in Hydrology and Environmental Science, Solid Waste Management and Climate Change and its impacts.

Easy to say 'throw the trash out', so much harder to do it responsibly - and this has been the essence of our stall & art installation displayed at Karachi Eat Food Festival 2022 for 3 days.

The work of art is by artist Prof Munawer Ali Syed of Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture Karachi. This art exhibition depicts the uncontrollable trash bulge as a trash cloud and where the world is dangerously headed.

Under our project , SEED in collboration with Philip Morris International , we conducted 17+ cleanup drives across Pakistan with the passionate youth of Quetta, Lahore, Peshawar, Balakot, and Karachi. We have engaged 2000+ volunteers and more than 3 tons of trash collected so far with 1 ton plus sent for the recycling to bring them back into the circular economy.

We are grateful to Philip Morris International for believing in and helping us engage youth and initiate dialogue and action around solid waste management and recycling alternatives in Pakistan.
