The following patient reported with a complaint of teeth being too forward.
The treatment plan involved fixed braces with extraction of upper 1st premolars followed by retraction of her front teeth.

The following patient had a braces treatment done which involved extracting the upper 1st premolars.

An 11 years old male presented with a chief complaint of wanting alignment of his teeth. He had a bilateral cleft lip/palate. On radiographic evaluation, patient had all 32 teeth present with a malformed upper left central incisor. He had a class II molar relation on skeletal class II bases which was further complicated by low vertical proportions and bimaxillary retroclined incisors.

Treatment plan involved expansion of the upper arch with a quadhelix followed by fixed appliance treatment with upper and lower pre adjusted edgewise appliance of roth prescription. Bring displaced and unerupted teeth within the arch followed by ABG.

Unfortunately, we have 2 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Pakistan. In order to protect ourselves and our families, we need to be aware and take the necessary precautions, as outlined below.

This virus is not heat- resistant and will be killed at a temperature of 26-27 degrees Centigrade. Therefore, drink hot water. Spend time in the sun.

Doctor's advice:

1. It is pretty large in size (cell is about 400-500nm diameter), so any normal mask (not just the N95 feature) should be able to filter it out. However, when someone who is infected sneezes or coughs in front of you, it will take 3 meters (about 10 feet) before it drops to the ground and is no longer air borne.

2. When the virus drops on metal surface, it will live for at least 12 hours. So remember, if you come in contact with any metal surface, wash your hands with soap thoroughly.

3. The virus can remain active on fabric for 6- 12 hours. Normal laundry detergent should kill the virus. For winter clothing that does not require daily washing, you can put it out under the sun to kill the virus.

About the symptoms of pneumonia caused by Coronavirus:

1. It will first infect the throat, so the throat will have the dry sore throat feeling which will last 3-4 days.

2. Then the virus will blend into the nasal fluid and drips into the trachea and enter the lungs, causing pneumonia. This process will take 5-6 days.

3. With pneumonia comes high fever and difficulty in breathing. The nasal congestion is not like the normal kind. You will feel like you are drowning in water. It’s important to seek immediate medical attention if you feel like this.

Prevention:

1. The most common way of getting infected is by touching things in public, so you must wash your hands (including the back of your hands, between the fingers, under the nails) frequently with soap for 20 seconds at least.. The virus can only live on your hands for 5- 10 mins, but a lot can happen in those 5- 10 min.

2. Ensure your mouth and throat is moist, never DRY. Take a few sips of water every 15 minutes at least. Even if the virus gets into your mouth, drinking water or other hot liquids will WASH them down through your esophagus and into the stomach. Once in your tummy, the stomach acid will kill all the virus. If you don't drink water more regularly, the virus can enter your windpipes and into the LUNGS.

3. Gargle with Betadine Sore Throat Gargle to eliminate or minimize the germs while they are still in your throat (before dripping down to your lungs).

4. Avoid crowds and public places, because you do not know who might be sick. People who are infected can show no symptoms but are still INFECTIOUS.

5. Wear MASKS all the time. Throw away masks once they feel dirty- don't wear them for more than a day. Bacteria grows on the insides of the mask if worn too long. Also, don't touch the outside of the mask.

And of course PRAY to the Almighty to keep us in HIS protection.
