„Wojna dzieli życie zwykłego człowieka na przed i po. Nie da się do tego w pełni przygotować. Nie da się tego przewidzieć ze 100% dokładnością. Budząc się jednego ranka, opuszczasz łóżko, a wraz z nim wygodną rutynę, plany na przyszłość i spokój. Przerośnięte poczucie odpowiedzialności za bliskich i znajomych, uczucie niepokoju w nocy i niezrozumienie tego, co się dzieje - twoi nowi towarzysze każdego dnia. Umiejętność odróżniania prawdy od propagandy, przystosowania się do godziny policyjnej i współpracy z wolontariuszami – twoje nowe hard i soft skills” – opowiada o odczuciach spowodowanych wojną Oleksii Kozhan.

Zapraszamy na prezentację tanecznego wideo projektu „Dance for Ukraine” Oleksija Kozhana, w którym zwykli ludzie opowiedzą o swoich doświadczeniach zetknięcia się z wojną i o tym, jak te doświadczenia przekształciły się w sztukę. Zespoły młodych i dorosłych tancerzy ze szkół .dance.school (Wyszhorod, obwód Kijowski) i (Mukaczewo, obwód Zakarpacki) stworzyły 10 filmów tanecznych, z których każdy to krótka historia.

Prezentacja filmowego projektu odbędzie się w niedzielę 17 marca, początek o godz. 18:00, wstęp wolny.

The first rehearsal of the musical together with will take place already this weekend. We will get to know each other and start working on the first dance pieces. But even besides this rehearsal, we look forward to seeing you at Uptown Ballet's technical and repertory classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. In October, Uptown Ballet and 3Arte start working on a mutual stage musical. The premiere will be held with the participation of Polish pop stars. The next rehearsal will take place this Saturday from 13:00 to 16:00 in Gliwice at Barlickiego 3. This week we will start working on our first video, which is scheduled to be shot in October. I'm excited to announce that Uptown Ballet is having its first rehearsal this week as we begin work on our first solo routine. "Archive" is a story about how the body constantly accumulates and interprets life experience and I'll be happy to share it with you

The most frequently asked questions about Uptown Ballet:

▪️Can I join if I'm not a professional dancer?
▫️We invite experienced dancers as well as confident amateurs. The main thing is your desire to develop and willingness to cooperate with the choreographer.

▪️Shall we dance ballet?
▫️The word ballet is present in the collective's name, but this does not mean that our main repertoire will consist of classical choreography. Most of the attention will be paid to modern routines in the style of contemporary andl jazz.

▪️Will the class take place only once a week?
▫️Yes. When we talk about experienced dancers, we assume that you attend dance or sports classes during the week or maintain your dance form in some other way.

▪️What is the minimum number of people who must join the team to start work?
▫️We will start rehearsals on September 16, regardless there are 2 or 15 people at the rehearsal. The repertoire will be formed depending on the age and level of training of the people who come.

▪️Are free classes true? What will I have to pay for?
▫️Classes in our team are really free. Participants pay only for the production of costumes, participation in competitions and filming and related organizational costs. But we will also seek to raise funds from third parties to cover these costs.

Hi. I'm .kozhan, the founder and choreographer of Uptown Ballet. My dance history began at a rather late age. I had been studying at the technical university and music school and could hardly have thought that one day I would stand at the ballet barre or master the movement techniques on the parterre. It was hard to start, the body was constantly hurting and not obeying, I had to learn in a matter of weeks what others spent months on, but my passion for movement did not allow me to give up. Since then, more than ten years have passed, I realized that I get the most pleasure from dance when I can tell stories by means of body. That's when I founded .dance.school a place that has gathered people of different ages and professions who were as in love with the movement as I were. Together we created many dance compositions, ballets and videos, visited the World Championship, participated in various shows and even shot our own film. Uptown Ballet - was supposed to be our next big project, but due to the war in Ukraine, it never became a reality.
Today I have the happy opportunity to invite dancers from Poland to become a part of the history of Uptown Ballet, which will begin on September 16 in Gliwice. Share your dance story in the comments and let's get acquainted ⬛

Uptown Ballet – це школа сучасної та класичної хореографії, що відрізняється системою навчання, всередині якої танцівник може розвиватися змалечку і до вступу до профільного ВНЗ. Дитячому танцювальному табору в Вишгороді цього року БУТИ! 🤩

Як і у попередні роки, цього літа школа сучасної та класичної хореографії Uptown Ballet прийматиме в своїх стінах дітей, які цікавляться танцем 💃
