🐰 Hop on over to the Easter Market in Kraków! 🌸🥚🎉 From March 30th to April 17th, the Main Market Square will come alive with a delightful showcase of traditional Easter crafts, decorations, and delicacies. You can browse handmade pisanki (decorated eggs), sample delicious pączki (Polish doughnuts), and pick up unique souvenirs to remember your trip to Kraków.

As the sun shone after those freezing days, we want to share with our guests next legend about the Wawel's dragon, who lived on those lands.🐉🏰

A long time ago when Krak the king used to rule this city, there was a creature that decided to make it's lair right under the Cracow’s castle.
The creature was a dragon with green skin, long, sharp teeth and an unusual ability to breathe fire. To prevent the monster from terrorising the city there was an agreement made – the dragon shall receive a sacrifice made from a cow once a week. The people of Cracow lived in fear, scared to leave their huts and there wasn’t many brave souls ready to kill the creature. Those who tried, used to never come back. The distraught king, worried about the small amount of cattle left to bribe the dragon, seemed to have lost all hope.

In a few days however, a modest shoemaker has appeared in town. His name was Dratewka. He claimed that he was the one that could defeat the monster. Using his craft the boy created a fake sheep filled with sulfur. 🐑 He left his creation outside the dragon’s lair. When the hungry creature saw the delicious snack he proceeded to devour it with no hesitation. The sulfur inside his body began to burn so he ran to the river to drink its waters to quenth his thirst. He drank so much, that, finally, he exploded!
The city was saved and in memory of this event, a big statue of the dragon was made and is now standing proudly, right next to the place where the creature lived, under the Cracow’s castle Wawel. 🐉

Visiting the city of Kraków, the city of kings, it is hard to not get curious about the culture and history of this medieval city. 🏰🏰

We would like to share with our guests a series of four legends about this place to ignite curiosity and make your stay with us even more intresting.📚📖

The first story will be about something u can see right outside your windows. Tourists in Cracow cannot resist trying to feed the impossible amount of pigeons gathering regularly on the main square. Not many however, have come to know the story behind those interesting creatures. The legend says the pigeons are far from usual, they are enchanted. When Henry IV the Righteous ruled those lands, he wanted to unite all his principalities but had no money. Than, a Cracow’s fairy offered a solution. She changed the duke’s troops into the birds. They sat on St. Mary’s Church and began to peck the brick walls and the stone crums, falling onto the ground, turned into gold. The duke than, after collecting the money, went to the pope to ask for his permission and support. On his way he ate, drank and soon all his money was gone. He never came back to Cracow and his troops were left turned into pigeons.🕊🪹

Now, the birds so eager to fly above our heads and sit on our arms are hoping that one of us would be the king that could bring them back their old lifes. 🕊👸

The year 2023 has finally begun! 🥳
We present to you with an entertainment option something you might want to see.

This year Kraków has a lot to offer, as new exhibitions and cultural events will be taking place.
One of them is an exhibition dedicated to the art of one of the most talented painters of the XX-th century, Tamara Łempicka.

The display, located in Muzeum Narodowe (National Museum), presents around 40 paintings gathered from museums and private collections all around Europe and the USA.

The exhibition will allow you to admire her work starting form the 1920s up until the 60s. She was most known for her portraits and n**e art as the main subject of her work were people. Tamara is an icon of art deco, a style where features were simple, presented in geometric forms and contrasting colors. The dominant shades were those of precious stones such as emerald, ruby, crystal with a touch of black and dark brown. The display shows not just the paintings of the artist, but also gives you an idea of what her lifestyle looked like, as both of those things are undeniably connected with each other. She surely was an incredible woman who inspires up until this day. All the guest staying with us can see her art at Muzeum Narodowe. The display will be open up until March.

Beautifully decorated, each unique in its own way, created by talented Polish people, Krakow's nativity scenes will draw attention of everyone taking a winter walk on the streets of Krakow. Miniature-like buildings will remind you of the most important elements of Krakow's architecture and buildings. This unique exhibition will take place within the Old Town. The nativity scenes will be displayed until February 2, 2023. Look for them in the streets of our city and enjoy the Christmas Spirit. 😀

Finally, long-awaited Cracow’s Christmas Market has begun! 🙂 🎄
The Market takes place on the Main Square. There, you will experience a tradition that brings together people from all over the world.
In small, cozy, wooden booths you will be presented with delicious food, beautiful ceramics and unique Christmas decoration. This will be an opportunity to try a traditional Polish cuisine - grilled sausages, mulled wine and oscypkis, which are salty mountain goat cheeses topped with some delicious cranberry jam, served hot. For those who have a little bit of a sweet tooth fruits in decorative chocolate will be served. Let’s also not forget about crunchy gingerbread cookies, roasted peanuts and chestnuts!
You will be able to enjoy the Market all throughout December up until January 1st.

The name “Venetian House” refers to the stay Venetian Republic doges (Venetian: Doxe de Venexia, Italian: Doge di Venezia) in Krakow. The title "doge" was the title of the senior-most elected official of Venice and Genoa. The fact of this stay was to be confirmed by the Gothic-Renaissance sculpture with the Lion of St Mark that existed at the beginning of the 20th century. However, the details of the visit are hidden in the darkness of history…

Kamienica przy Rynku 11 składa się z wysokiego poddasza, kilku pięter i dwukondygnacyjnej niższej części z balkonem. Dekoracja elewacji w podwórku nawiązuje do architektury weneckiego renesansu, a na jej południowej ścianie znajduje się symbol budynku – płaskorzeźba karpia. To dlatego czasami o naszym budynku mówi się „dom pod szarym karpiem”.

The tenement house consists of a high attic, a batch of floors and a two-story lower part with a balcony. The decoration of the courtyard façade refers to the Venetian Renaissance architecture. In the southern wall the of the yard there is the emblem of the tenement house – bas-relief of carp. This is why our building is sometimes referred at Grey Carp House (Kamienica Pod Szarym Karpiem).

What we currently see at the Main Square 11 was designed in 1913. During the renovation, the above-ground stories of the building were demolished and a new multi-wing house was erected. Look at the façade – it is the highest in the eastern frontage of the market!
