On Friday May 24th at 2:00am EST, Kabosu's owner Ms. Sato announced that the world's beloved Japanese Shiba Inu had passed away surrounded by loved ones today.

Kabosu was 18 years and 6 months old at the time of her passing. Her birthday has been celebrated annually by her owners ever since she was rescued from a breeding facility more than a decade ago. After a photoshoot that Ms. Sato had started to document about the dog, one famous photo of the Shiba Inu crossing her paws on the yellow couch would forever change history as we know it, bringing us a beloved cultural icon we know as Doge.

We take this time to mourn her passing, and we extend kindness and prayers to her family at this time.
