WWII started on the morning of September 1st 1939 with the Battle of Westerplatte peninsula. Only 200 Poles, trying to defend Westerplatte, managed to hold off the attack of over 3000 Germans for one week.

The Wieliczka salt mines are a must-see when visiting Poland, the salt mines reach a depth of 327 meters below ground and have a total length of 286 kilometers.

The mines have been in operation since the 13th century and have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site for their well-preserved underground chambers, statues, and chapels carved out of salt.

The restaurant 'Piwnica Świdnicka' is a Polish restaurant company based in the medieval cellars of the Old Town Hall in Wrocław, Poland.

It is the oldest restaurant in Poland and one of the oldest in Europe.

Tourism in Zakopane dates back to the 18th century. The visitors arrived mainly from Krakow in horse carts.

When the first railway track to Zakopane was finished in 1898, the number of tourists increased rapidly from 1.600 tourists in 1898, to over 10.000 people in 1900.

Bialowieza national park is the last remaining part of the primeval forest which once covered the vast European Plain.

The forest is home to wolves, lynx, boar, elk, red deer, roe deer, and its most iconic animal, the European bison. An annual count in 2022 has found that almost 800 European bisons live in Bialowieza national park.

The house is called the “Keret house” and it was designed by the architect Jakub Szczęsny. It measures 92 centimeters (36 inches) at its thinnest point and 152 centimeters (60 inches) at its widest. Come to Warsaw to see it for yourself and make sure you won't walk past it!

In 1978, UNESCO declared Karków’s Old Town together with Wawel Royal Castle a World Heritage Site, becoming the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in the world.

UNESCO described it as: “one of the most outstanding examples of European urban planning, characterized by the harmonious development and accumulation of features representing all architectural styles from the early Romanesque to the Modernist periods.”
