Puebleando en el Eje Cafetero
Nada como un buen desconectar en el Eje Cafetero de Colombia para pueblear por el día y luego tirarse en una hamaca, leer un buen libro y dejar a lo lejos esos pensamientos del to-do list que nunca se achican.
Aqui les dejo la ruta que seguí desde Medellin:
1. Vuela hasta Pereira y disfruta de su gastronomía por una noche antes de ir al campo.
2. Visita Filandia, un pueblito colorido a 45 minutos de Pereira.
3. Hospedate entre montañas de fincas de cafe, plátano y banano y llega en Willy(Jeep) desde el pueblo.
4. Almuerza donde “El Padre”- el sacerdote del pueblo hace un almuerzo diario en su casa en la montaña. El menu cambia a diario y ¡es riquísimo!
5. Juega Tejo en Salento- es un co****le con gunpowder y una manera super divertida para compartir con los locales.
6. Haz senderismo por el Valle del Cocerá- puedes escoger un hike de 12km entre bosques y puentes colgantes o uno mas corto que te lleve directo a ver estas hermosas palmas.
7. Pasa la mañana meditando en las aguas termales de Santa Rosa de Cabal

Medellín photo dump
El Medellín que yo conozco es uno que no encuentras en las guías turisticas.
Conmigo no vas ni a la comuna 13, ni a pasear por el teleférico hasta el parque Arvi, ni a comerte una bandeja paisa- aunque esos primeros dos son muy lindos y súper recomendados.
Medellín es la ciudad donde me he encontrado mil veces.
Mi Medellín es de yoga, de hikes a cascadas y a vistas panorámicas , de velitas, de comidas sabrosas a base de plantas, y de alimentar mi obsesión con comprarme los mejores trajes de baño.
Medellín es mágico. Pero ni idea te se decir donde ir a rumbear o que hacer por el Lleras- aún cuando esté a solo algunas cuadras de este.
Medellín es de tatuajes, de cafés (y ahora matchas), de bretañas micheladas y kombuchas on tap y de muchos, muchos abrazos y gente hermosa que literalmente corre a darte la bienvenida cuando te ve venir luego de unos años fuera….
Ese es el Medellín del que me enamoro y al que quiero regresar mil veces más.

Les cuento que llevo unos días de mucho descanso. No soy la única, ¿verdad?
Estos días de lluvia y “friito” boricua son lo más cercano que tenemos a hibernar. 🌧🥶
Luego de varios días levantándome tarde y cero ejercicio, la cuerpa me pedia movimiento.
¿El problema?
Esto es IMPOSIBLE un lunes en la tarde.
La voz del ego me dice:
¿Qué vas a hacer si tienes reuniones toda la tarde?
𝐌𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚 𝐜𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨 𝐞𝐥 𝐞𝐠𝐨 𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚 𝐚𝐥 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨 porque en ese mismo momento me escribe mi próxima reunión y dice que va a llegar tarde.
Ni modo, ¿no? Toca escuchar.

En vez corrí, me bañé con agua fría, preparé un matcha y escribí este post.

I HAD to pick this one carefully…✨
I have a tradition to test run whatever goals I made during the New Year until my birthday. It’s on THIS day that I pick a word that will set the tone for the year to come AND the lessons ahead.
Because as the saying goes…be careful what you wish for…
In 2020, just a few weeks before the whole world went into lockdown, my life seemed to be falling apart. I moved back to my parents home after almost 14 years away, a failed relationship and for the first time in my life, no idea how I'd support myself. I decided that my word for the year would be SURRENDER.
Trust me, I had plenty of chances to practice! In my 32nd year, I learned to trust that everything that was happening TO me was happening FOR me.
This community is a product of those lessons.
Last year’s words were INTENTION and WORTH, and 2021 became the year of shedding, of making space, of letting go of the stories that I’ve been holding on to. I thought WORTH meant MONEY- but I quickly learned that the Universe doesn't give you what you want, but what you need.
33 was the year I met my darkest shadow and took responsibility for the choices I kept on making. It’s the year I broke down more times that I could count. It was also the year I learned to ask for help. The year I set boundaries and closed chapters from old wounds. It was the year I walked AN ENTIRE FU***NG COUNTRY, and no, I’ll never take that experience for granted!🙌🏼
Towards the end, as I cocooned and integrated all of these lessons, I realized I was reaching new levels of WORTH and LOVE, and I got to SURRENDER all over again for this new version to emerge.
Because they all have led me HERE:
So this year’s word HAD to express that:
🌈🌈 Here's to a year of 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐀𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍:
EXPANSION in JOY
EXPANSION in LOVE
EXPANSION in ENERGY

If you’ve been wanting to meditate as part of your routine, save this post.
You’ve heard of the benefits of a meditation practice, but, whenever you find time and motivation to do it, your mind wanders to what you need to do next.
So, 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘦𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥?
It’s taken me years, a consistent breathwork practice and a lot of showing up to finally sit with my thoughts.
It’s called a meditation 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦 for a reason.
Here is what I recommend so you speed up your process:
✨ 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐚 𝐇𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭- Find a time to do it daily. Right after your alarm rings, before going to bed, at 2pm when you need a nap.
✨ 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐔𝐩- Not feeling it today? Sit down anyway. Even when your mind wanders.
✨ 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞- Start a timer. Observe your breathe. Notice how long you can do it before getting uncomfortable. 1 minute! Amazing! This is your starting base. Do it again tomorrow.
✨ 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡- You were able to sit with your thoughts for 30 seconds more before your mind went completely elsewhere? Look at you! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Keep it up!
✨ 𝐓𝐫𝐲 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐝- breathwork is a powerful healing modality that gets you into your subconscious FAST. From there, you process emotions and trauma. This is ACTUALLY how I first learned to meditate.
✨ 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫- Nothing quite compares to the energy of being facilitated by someone, even online. 🙌🏼 DM me for 1:1 sessions.

Here’s how I’ve been integrating the lessons I learned on the Camino ✨
It’s been almost two months since I made it to the End of the World.
35 days. 900 miles.
Countless stories to tell.
I had every intention of sharing what that journey was like as soon as I got home and then- NOTHING.
This account went dark.
The truth is: I didn’t realize JUST HOW MUCH my life would change after.
The Camino taught me new ways to be PRESENT. And for the start of this next chapter, I wanted to BE PRESENT FOR ALL OF IT ❣️
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that we need to go backwards before we move forwards.
2021 was particularly challenging. I sat with a lot of old stories that I’d been avoiding for years.
Like many of you, I’ve been reflecting about the year over the last few days.
This is how YOU can do it too:
1️⃣ Set the intention and boundaries: tell anyone in your space that you are not to be interrupted for the next 15-30 min. Grab a paper and write down the months of the year.
2️⃣ Set a timer for 3 minutes. Take deep breaths in through your nose and out your mouth. If any emotions come up, allow yourself to feel them.
3️⃣ When you are ready, write down all the memories that come up of what happened each month. For some it is easier to go in reverse, starting in December. For others it might be random. The order doesn’t matter. Write the good, the bad, the ones you aren’t sure of.
4️⃣ Then, get a sheet of paper and write all the memories that didn’t work, what felt icky or what you know you should have done better. Feel free to add more to this list over the next few days.
5️⃣ On another sheet, write down what did work and (this is important) the LESSONS that your learned from all the experiences that didn’t.
6️⃣ On NYE, read over both lists. Take one last look at your “bad” list and burn it. 🔥 Take a picture of the lessons list and send it to yourself over email with the subject line “LESSONS 2021” for you to read again next year 😉
One last thing:
7️⃣ Take a picture of the burning note and TAG me so we can celebrate and let go of those blocks together!
I though it was going to be just another January challenge, but quitting THIS changed my life.
More than breathwork did.
More than having a daily routine.
And ALMOST as much as walking an entire country.
If anything, it was the catalyst for everything else.
𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐨, 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐩 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐡𝐨𝐥.
Here’s what I’ve learned since:
✨ 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐬: drinking to avoid feeling anxious in social situations, left me feeling more anxious afterwards, particularly around people I didn’t know. It’s because you can’t shield from feeling their energy when you are disconnected from yourself.
✨ 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝗪𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞: You’ll be a trigger for some, often because you are shining light to a part of their shadow they are not ready to face. Some will evolve. Some will end. Focus on you.
✨ 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞: Once you automatically rule out the Bumble match that says “What can we do for fun if you don’t drink?” you find people you genuinely connect with and can try new activities with!
✨ 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞: My body had been asking me to quit for years. 1 beer and I’d have a headache the next day. I can’t properly hold space if I’m out of alignment. I stay in alignment by meditating, journaling, doing breathwork and eating clean (ish!). I didn’t want to do any of this while hungover.
✨ 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐭𝐨 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐭. I wasn’t really ME when I drank, and that was reason enough. Drinking is so normalized in our culture that not drinking is seen as weird. Where do you think that story comes from?
Best of all:
✨ 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 when activities don’t revolve around getting drunk. And trust me, the parties are epic!

It’s a time to listen to your body, nourish it, sleep more and befriend the shadows that live within each and every one of us.
Only by embracing our shadow we can fully enjoy our light.
What can you do to honor this day?
❄️ Get cozy- Grab blankets, pillows, comfy jammies, slippers, a good book and light up a fire if you have one.
🍲Nourish yourself- Eat warm, hearty soups, steamed veggies or pour yourself a cup of tea while thanking your body for this moment.
🕯Light Candles- It’s no surprise that there are so many holidays around this time that include lighting candles. Find ones that help you relax and go within.
🌬Breathe- Take 3 deep breaths and notice how your body feels before and after. Where are you holding tension? Place your hands there and breathe into this part of your body as many times as you need.
📔 Reflect and journal on what this year has brought up and your intentions for next year. Practice compassion when answering these questions:
💙 What worked?
💙 What do I want to do differently?
💙 What do I want more of in my life?
💙What am I ready to release so I can make space for what’s ahead?

¿Con quién irías hasta el Fin del Mundo?
Estos últimos días han sido sumamente especiales. Las vistas más hermosas, los aguaceros más intensos y los kilómetros más largos.
Pensé muchas veces en no hacer esta parte del Camino.
Me decia:
Lo hago la próxima vez…con mi pareja… cuando vuelva…luego…
El Camino es una metáfora de la vida.
Las personas que conoces son reflejo de ti. Te enseñan, te apoyan, se van y quizás vuelven. Te recuerdan de tus límites, de tus miedos y, si tienes suerte, hacen el viaje mucho más interesante y placentero. ✨
Pero al final, la única persona con la que verdaderamente puedes ir hasta el fin del mundo es CONTIGO misma.
Así que luego de Santiago, continue caminando.
LUEGO a veces es tarde.
Este camino siempre fue para mi. Ya hace mucho me llamaba.
Para celebrar.
Para dejar ir.
Para llorar y reír sola.
Para cerrar capítulos.
Y, más que nada, para recordar que puedo hacer cosas difíciles… aún cuando parecen locas o imposibles.
Y nada como caminar de costa a costa un país entero para recordarte con cada célula del cuerpe que puedes hacer cosas difíciles.
Hoy llegue a lo que se conoce como el Fin del Mundo.… por mi y por la versión de mi que está lista para hacer lo que parece imposible.

But I’m getting ahead of myself…

On the first 10 days of the Camino you’re just learning how to walk.
You learn:
✨to slow down and enjoy the view, the coffee in front of you and the company by your side- rather than the destination ahead.
✨to love your blistered feet, your aching body and trust that it magically revives after a hot shower.
✨to let go of what’s heavy-literally- and happily give away that 4th t-shirt you haven’t even worn yet. You are grateful when you leave your 3rd legging behind.
Every gram weights you down.
Long gone are the days of racing ahead, of carrying 14 kilos up a mountain and patting myself on the back for making it to the albergue before the others.
Long gone are the days of putting on makeup and tweezing any unwanted hair. Now it’s sunblock and chap stick and making sure I’m carrying enough bandages for the day ahead.
On the first few days of the Camino, you learn to put your ego aside.
You set your pace.
You go to bed earlier.
You eat what nourishes you.
You watch the sunrise and taste the sweetness of freshly picked fruit.
You take that extra minute to double tie your shoes.
You start to really think that you can do this- even if it’s still twenty something plus days away.

It’s been said that your demons come out to play after you learn how to walk.
And I hear mine waking up.
The easiest reaction WOULD be to get upset.
Yesterday I traveled hours outside of my main starting point to Donostia- San Sebastián. When I bought the ticket here, the officer was adamant that I needed to come here. I said I needed to be in Pamplona, but he disagreed and I trusted his expertise.
Turns out, my research was correct. And there are no buses or trains that will get me to my destination by my original start date.
But then I remembered what I’ve been told about this trip:
𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘰. 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦’𝘴 𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵.
With this in mind, I realized that my Camino started weeks ago:
✨ When my dad send me the address of my great grandfather’s house from 1888.
✨ When my aunt shared pictures of my great grandparents’ and told me about the village where my mom’s side of the family came from.
✨ When I was forced to reset my phone and I lost all unsaved contacts, forcing me to quite literally delete people in my life that will no longer serve me on the next chapter.
Which means that these stories algo get to be a part of the journey:
✨ My computer unexpectedly breaking down forcing me to take time off work and be fully present during my time in Barcelona, Mallorca and Valencia.
✨ Wandering the streets of my ancestors and finding the houses where they lived.
✨Going through old family records with the help of a priest in Soller, who was telling me about his Camino experience.
✨ Spending quality time with people who have made a significant impact in my life (and where coincidentally also in Spain!) and I got to tell them how grateful I am for their lessons and friendship.
✨ Dancing the streets of Barcelona with one of my favorite soul-sister.
It would be easy to get upset about this detour, but already it’s proven to be worth it.
Turns out, San Sebastián is considered one of the best places in the world to eat seafood- (second city in the world with Michelin star restaurants, after Tokyo) so I guess I’ll be making my foodie little brother proud:

Sometimes before moving forward you have to go backwards.
WAY back
As far back as you CAN go back
to the beginning.
I made it to Palma de Mallorca today.
My great grandparents from both my mom and dad’s side lived in small villages, now a short car ride from where I’m standing.
I feel it.
The energy.
My ancestors guiding me.
The full moon inviting me to follow my intuition.
I meditate under a tree and I feel THEM: their hopes, their fears, their inner conflicts as they decide to LEAVE this beautiful island.
Am I an echo of their wildest dreams or is history just repeating it’s pattern?
Do I break it by choosing to stay?
Not here, but there.
A waiter interrupts my journaling and asks if I speak CASTELLANO because I look like I’m from here.
I’ve been told this before.
“You look from here.”
In Beirut, in Kuwait… my basic Arabic quickly letting them know that I am not.
I haven’t gone that far back…yet.
THIS time I say that I am.
That I 𝘸𝘢𝘴.
WAY back.
Sometimes before moving forwards you have to go backwards.
So back we go….

This ending has been a long time coming…
In June 2019 I took a year-long sabbatical as an elementary school teacher to figure out what I wanted to do next.
The original plan was to head to China by the end of January 2020, slowly making my way East, visiting old friends until I met up with my former roomate, who’d be living in Barcelona by September of that year.
I’d end my wanderlust year walking El Camino De Santiago for 35 days.
And then the plan got derailed.
Among the most unexpected detours:
✨ Moving back to my childhood home, one I hadn’t spent more than a few weeks at a time in over 14 years.
✨ Starting a profitable soul-led Breathwork business.
✨ Connecting with incredible humans through social media during a pandemic and forming real-life friendships and projects.
✨ Setting boundaries on all my romantic relationships: transitioning into solid friendships or writing them off completely.
I get it now.
I wasn’t ready to walk then.
I needed to love myself a little more.
I needed to know myself a little more.
I needed to believe in myself a little more.
I needed to be fully present and enjoy this free- spirit version of me A LOT more.
I am ready to walk now.
These last few days have confirmed that a lot will change once I get back.
I’m so excited to share with you all what’s next… 🙌🏼
But until then, I get to enjoy this ending fully.

Even with the detours.
