Superb and hi-efficient construction
Reinforced structural steel construction with concrete blocks. Interior walls were built in gypsum board, with R15 insulation for thermal efficiency. You can touch an interior wall at the end of the afternoon on the side where the sun goes down and it is cool. This decreases the energy consumption of air conditioners.
Although the ceilings are 9 feet high between one floor and another, the height between floor and floor is 10', a foot of air chamber was left between floor and floor, to absorb the noise of walking or moving objects in the second floor so they don't sit on the first floor.
The floors were installed without having a single interior wall built, which allowed us to give them the appropriate levels for the management of the waters in the house of a flood. Modification of the interior walls can be done without the need to repair the floors, this allows to keep continuity in the pattern of the tiles.
Security and supply of utilities
An underground cistern of more than 3,400 gallons of water makes the house self-sufficient for more than a month of normal-daily water use.
Each section of the house has an independent control key for the water system, which allows, in the event of a breakdown, to isolate a section of the house to stop the leak, while the rest continues working regularly.
The swimming pool area is sloped towards the tread so that in the event of a pool overflow the water never reaches the house.
The house has all the necessary piping installation for solar panels installation and is enabled to conduct electricity to the canopy, capacity to connect the inverters and batteries to make the house solar powered without breaking a single wall or install additional pipes on the outside.
The security windows resist winds of up to 150 miles per hour, manufacturer certified. (Those on the second floor passed Hurricane Maria without any shutters and without suffering any damage)
