American Colonels was first established as an unincorporated civil association in 2020 as a result of what is viewed today as a "schism" of Kentucky Colonels that resulted in two dismissed lawsuits, kept under the jurisdiction of the US District Court which in 2023 became a controversy over a colonel's civil rights, the right to publicity, the right to the title, and the discovery of the real origin of the Honorable Title: Colonel and Kentucky Colonel as the designated head of a colony, company, or county prior to 1799 in the Old Kentucky and Tennessee Territories.

American Colonels in 2024 will be touted as a membership organization open to persons with colonelcies from all states and as a publishing platform (6 websites, 10 domains, 3 hosts, plus intranet, VPN, and email) that are collectively owned by our members. We are a platform for free speech of our members. We are probably the only organization that fully understands the origins of colonelcy or the customary privileges.

American Colonels views the Kentucky Colonels as another type of colonel, so within the organization we have the Kentucky Colonel Council.

Our purpose is: "The Advocacy of the Honorable Title: Colonel as that of a Civilian Goodwill Ambassador Internationally." We publish information about the Office of the Colonelcy in America.

Persons that donate $1000 during their first five years are considered "commissioners" or "owners" and are entitled to serve as an officer, director or committee member with "one vote". All other benefits of membership including services are available to all members no matter the level of their annual or monthly donation.

In 2024 badges and identification cards will be produced for Colonels from the United States and other Countries. A handbook will be developed for members so they better understand their "rights, privileges, and responsibilities" for their benefit in the greater civil society. It should be fun!

If you are a Judge or a Lawyer and you are a Kentucky Colonel™ contact Hon. David J. Wright now, because your rights to forms of address and style are at risk. Apparently it is not completely legal to allow others to know that you are a Kentucky Colonel, he was just served with a lawsuit that will affect your title, what it means, and how you can use it.

Currently the 'Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels' wants the US District Court to prevent colonels from using Kentucky Colonel™ as an unregistered trademark, it is a First Amendment issue because they are trying to control the Title use.


15 U.S. Code § 1125 - False designations of origin, false descriptions, and dilution forbidden. This means TM must represent the true origin and the R represents legal fiction. What happens if the party with the R passes off fiction as fact and it destroys the credibility of the heritage? This needs to be our counterclaim, fiction was created when the HOKC ambiguously claimed trademark registration on 10 classes of products using the "KENTUCKY COLONELS" wordmark.
