Sé, Braga

You really don't get the sense of awe in the cathedral unless you are there. This is the oldest cathedral in Portugal. Its construction began at the end of the 11th century.

The painted wooden panelled ceilings are in immaculate condition.

Community Project | 'Galinha' Mobile library inauguration

We had a bright sunny morning on the 'International Day of Education' for the launch of this little library.

The city council Câmara Municipal de Almada and the local council União das Freguesias de Almada, Cova da Piedade, Pragal e Cacilhas were represented at the event and also the president of AlmadaMundo - Associação Internacional

with our partners Oficina D'Almada Makerspace and Descartes Woodwork made this library.

We recycle!
Tom Small Yellow Box constructed her from a sideboard donated by Ronaldo Januario Music and Tom found a stool near a bin.

Lee made the galinha (chicken) from wire, wool and old buttons.

At the launch Lee gave out daffodils (a symbol of new beginnings) to all the representatives including the Bandlivros ambassadors and volunteers.

The event was a great success.
A class from a local school and children from the next door babysitting business attended.
We told stories, gave bags for books to the children and there was cake! (Thank you Filipa )

Isabel from A galinha da vizinha will be the caretaker of this library.
She will promote and explain the concept of book exchange to Almada visitors.

"Tarde de conversas com James McSill sobre workshop"

(An afternoon workshop. Conversations with James McSill)


organized this event from start to finish. They made online inscriptions, set up the room and sent 'thank you' emails to all attendees.

We are grateful to for his generous and kind offer to present two, two hour workshops about storytelling.

Given the weather, we were surprised to have a full house of 16 people. They were a diverse group - Bandlivros volunteers, Almada Mundo project managers and invited professional storytellers.
