This weeks' Wellness Theme: Stay Active & Creative
Long-term health & wellness is a goal for most people, and building a sustainable wellness routine is key to longevity...but so is variety. We want to participate in wellness activities that make us feel good (exercise, meditation, eating healthy, etc), but doing the same thing continuously can get boring, and lead to taking days off, and maybe event falling off the wellness wagon. By staying creative with a variety of activities, we can sustain our excitement about improving our mental and physical well-being. It's also very import to keep our wellness routines manageable so they aren't competing with life's other priorities. That's why we have a variety of wellness videos with varying lengths from 5 - 60 minutes including breathwork, chair yoga, meditation, traditional yoga, workouts, and even foam rolling! (https://bcwellnessplus.org/videos) Adding variety to our wellness journeys not only keeps us excited to learn more, it also provides a well-rounded approach to supporting different aspects of our mental and physical health. So try something new, and feel good about every step you take to health and wellness.

This week's wellness theme: Keep Trying, Keep Smiling
Have you ever thought of working out, doing yoga, meditating, or eating healthy as fun and enjoyable? I imagine most people would say no to that question. What if we had the ability to truly enjoy going for a jog, holding a challenging yoga pose, saying no to the ice cream sundae, etc. That may be possible if we can stop taking ourselves too seriously. Our minds are great at building up challenging situations and thinking about them over and over. For instance, when we're putting on our running shoes, getting our yoga mats out, saying no to the ice cream, etc our minds usually tell us that this is no fun! To break the negative mindset, all we have to do is to take a step back, laugh at ourselves for being a little crazy, and then keep going. We don't have to be perfect, but by continually trying to improve ourselves we will slowly but surely train our minds to enjoy doing things that aren't so "fun". So just keep trying, don't take yourself too seriously, and try your best to laugh at how crazy our minds can be.
It's always great to bring some humor to wellness. So here's a little wellness joke to bring a smile to your face 😁
It's Wellness Wednesday, and we've got another yoga class that will help you stay healthy, happy, and focused. This is an 18 minute beginner yoga class that focuses on standing balance poses. This class goes well with this week's wellness theme of "Filling your Daily Tasks with Delight", as we have fun with standing balances and don't take ourselves too seriously. It should bring some joy, focus, and fun into your day, so why not give it a try. It's a wonderful class for beginners and experienced practitioners who want to revisit the fundamentals. Happy Wellness Wednesday!
It's wellness Wednesday, and we've got another free class coming your way. This Week's Wellness Theme: Don't Wait to Act
Humans are so good at thinking that it’s extremely difficult to stop our brains from constantly putting thoughts into our minds. Our brain power can be a positive thing, but when we think too much, we can make things seem much worse that they actually are, delay our actions, or even create new problems that don’t truly exist. In regards to our wellness, when we know we should be exercising, meditating, studying, taking a walk, etc, our brains can start telling us that these tasks won’t be fun. The snowball of thoughts begins, and we procrastinate the day away. So don’t wait to act on things that you know are good for you. When it’s time to make them happen, get started right away. Those procrastinating thoughts will melt away, and before you know it you’ll be on your way to completing the task and feeling great. So don’t save your best self for a later day. There’s never a better time than now!
This week's Wellness Wednesday video is a one hour yoga class that goes with our theme of "The Power & Efficiency of Honesty".
The class is a 60 minute yoga flow class called "Truthfulness Themed Power Flow". It's an intermediate class that will give practitioners a nice workout, stretch, and full yoga experience that helps us be honest with ourselves to understand what's best for us in various aspects of life. It's free on Youtube by using the link below. So feel free to give it a shot and tune into the power of your truth!
This week's theme: The Power & Efficiency of Honesty
We all know that "honesty is the best policy", especially during the conversations we have with ourselves. However, it's much easier to tell ourselves what we want to hear rather than what we need to hear. This usually doesn't lead to much real progress, and can also make it hard to accept ourselves as we truly are with our full spectrum of strengths and weaknesses. We all have things we need to work on, and working on our weaknesses, rather than doubling down on our strengths, can help us achieve big gains in many aspects of our lives. This week's invitation is to honestly ask yourself what part of your life you'd like to improve, and come up with 1-2 tangible ways you can start to make progress. If you'd like to improve aspects of your physical or mental health, we have plenty of free videos (see below) to help you make substantial gains. There's never a better time than now to be honest with yourself, so don't let any time go to waste.
This week's theme: Everything Changes with Time
There are many uncertainties in our days, weeks, months, and years, but one certainty is that nothing stays the same. Larger things like the weather, pop culture, and technology are constantly changing, but so are the little things like our moods, habits, daily outlooks, relationships, and more. With change being a certainty, it’s a great teacher of non-attachment. We mainly think of non-attachment as being too attached to material things and not letting them control us. But there’s another side to non-attachment, and that’s not letting the negative things get too attached to us that we feel they will last forever. Whether it’s a mood, mindset, challenge, phase in our lives, or anything else we’re not too fond of, it’s always nice to remember that it won’t last forever. This can help us flow through situations with grace rather than being gripped onto our emotions. Our invitation is whenever you’re feeling grumpy, upset, down, or any other emotion you’re not fond of, remind yourself that it won’t last forever, and things will change. It’s a nice reminder of the lesson of non-attachment and can help us stay level-headed, optimistic, and able to smile, even on the rainy days.
This week's theme: Little Actions Go a Long Way!
Our days are full of hundreds of small actions that can seem like just a part of our routines, or things we "have to get done". However each of these small actions has influence and power to shape our mindset, and can influence how we take on the next task. Starting our day with things that make us feel strong, accomplished, proud, and happy, may not be easy, but they can help us cultivate a positive mindset and continue it throughout the day. Think of it as a domino effect with each action you do with a positivity mindset leading to another. This week's invitation is to start your day with something that makes you feel good. It can be a 5 minute workout, meditation, short yoga class, etc. Even if you don't have a ton of motivation, try to do it anyway and see how you feel throughout the rest of the day. It may be the little action that sets your day up for a domino effect of positivity!

This Week's Theme: Show yourself a little love
Valentine's Week is a great time of year to show ourselves a little extra love. The pressure is all around us to act, look, and be a certain way, and that can result in only feeling good when we achieve or exceed our expectations. It's much less common to show appreciation just for showing up and doing our best. When showing up becomes our main objective, we can let go of the expectations and enjoy the experience instead of comparing it to what we thought or hoped it would be. This week's invitation is to give yourself a little extra appreciation for just showing up to your wellness or fitness classes, and don't be concerned about the results (how it makes you look, feel, etc). Showing up, doing our best, and not worrying about the result will help us get the most out of classes and make them more enjoyable. So why not take the pressure off and give yourself the credit and extra love you deserve!

This week's theme - Be Your Own Hero! ⚡🧙♂️🦸♂️
During the month of January, it's pretty common for de-motivation to get the best of us.😔 Some days can be dark and grim, but challenging situations are where heroes are born. 💪 If we are able to rise up to the challenge, we not only uplift our spirits and energy, we also build character. 😃 It may not be easy, but every day we have an incredible opportunity to be our own hero and take on the day with courage and purpose. 🏃♀️🌅
This week's invitation is to think about your optimal week of health and wellness, and strive to make it happen. 🥗🥑🧘♀️🏋️♂️ You may not be able to do everything you'd like, but each step in the right direction is a small victory and a building block of strong character 👍 So give it your best shot, be your own hero, and don't count your losses. You may even inspire some family and friends to join you in your courageous quest for better health and wellness! 🌞😀🌈
