AKACORLEONE walks the line between analogue and digital, communicating through colour saturation and shaping the urgency to humanise what surrounds him. Unique visual sensations by a Lisbon-based artist who seeks purpose and future in each of his works.

In her debut for Underdogs, Miss Van is celebrating over 25 years of painting. A burlesque universe of feminine energy and surrealism, of rawness coexisting with softness. Sultry women appear within dark, romantic compositions, in a style that has taken her from France to the entire world.

Spok Brillor, born in Madrid, has proven himself as an influential name in contemporary art. From his beginnings in the vibrant world of 90s graffiti, he went on to embrace a profusion of techniques, all of them rooted in a fantastical universe.

Vasco Mourão, a Portuguese illustrator and architect based in Barcelona, centres his work around cities. He renders urban spaces through line drawing, deconstructing the elements of the city and extending it beyond reality.

This show revisits an iconic, special place: the Transpraia station, where the tourist train stops, just before the sun-drenched beaches south of Lisbon. In this exhibition, Kampus invites us to navigate between the suspended works, in a setting where we could almost play hide-and-seek. The artist doesn’t just depict reality, he reinvents it, seeking to capture the joy, humour and absurdity of the situations and people around us.

Following his 2017 Underdogs debut, Felipe Pantone returns to the Gallery with “Perceptual Phenomena, Color Spaces, Structural Honesty”. A constellation of colours, patterns, textures, graphics and materialities, the exhibition draws upon the agile transformations of our reality, by way of our relationship with light.

The Argentinian-Spanish artist will also be making a public art intervention in the city of Lisbon, as well as a limited-edition release, with more details to be announced soon.

“Let’s Eat! / Vamos para a Mesa!”: on view at Sala da Cidade, in the city of Coimbra, until 26 October. 🍽️ At the invitation of , eleven artists contributed to this exhibition: a shared meal of works reflecting upon how much of our lives are spent around the table.

Food, meals and the refectory are at the heart of this selection; the romances, conversation and farewells they punctuate. “Shirt Mask x Metis Throwie” is Nuno Viegas’ love letter to all graffiti writers. The hooded and masked figure stands for these fellow artists: they hide, only for their marks to be visible all over the city in the light of day.

Underdogs is proud to release two editions by two unmistakable artists, later this month – stay tuned!

Vanessa Barragão upcycles raw materials from the textile industry. Marked by ancestral techniques and a poetic approach, the artist remains in search of bold, ambitious and ecologically engaged approaches.

Nuno Viegas, aka Metis, is one of Portugal’s core names in the international urban art scene. Graffiti is the focal point of his work, in a double aspect: a visually aggressive aesthetic is set against the artist’s peaceful, clean outlook on that reality.
