Taberna da Baixa - Adega

Bairrada wine region brings us the portuguese Espumante. It was here that the first production of sparkling wines in Portugal began. Although famous for it the red grape Baga is a staple of the red grapes of Portugal usually giving reds full of tanins acidity and dark fruit, one of the best grapes to make wines with long longevity.

The official date of the Dão region has a DOC dates back to 1908, that makes it the second registered region of wines in Portugal. Often referred as the portuguese Burgundy, with wines of a more fresh, herbal and mineral style. Then most characteristic grapes are Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro and Jaen (Mencia) from the reds and Encruzado, Bical and Malvasia-Fina in the whites.

Douro region is the first wine region registered in the world in 1756, although wines have been produced here for about 2000 years. With mediterranean and continental weather together with schist
terrain (sculpted by men in steps) it gives usually bold but fresh wines.

In our winebar you can come and try the 3 main grapes of the Vinho Verde region. Alvarinho, Loureiro and Vinhão.
The Vinho Verde region is known for the light acidic whites with a touch of fruit and minerality.
Although the whites are the most predominant, the reds also have space, with the grape Vinhão giving a juicy red with earthy and fruity notes.
