Vidigueira. From the amphitheater on the top floor of the cellar, the gentle slopes overlap as far as the eye can see. The dividing lines are discovered by the curvatures of the hills, lines made of trees, with floating lines of upright vines. The sound of the water from the waterfall in the courtyard, peace, the musical orchestration of the countryside, the light that illuminates and warms our faces, makes us cling to the chair in contemplation.

Quinta do Ventozelo, in Ervedosa do Douro, São João da Pesqueira, is colossal by its lenght, being one of the biggest estates in the entire region. Circa 400 hectares, opposing the traditional, endless small estates that characterize the Douro. The area of Quinta do Ventozelo is the same as it was 500 years ago. The effects of heritage and common inheritance in the region, and not just, that have been fractioned and splitting properties, did not seem to pass in there.

🇬🇧️BIODYNAMIC AGRICULTURE
In 2009, the journalist and wine critic João Afonso, arrived at the Portalegre region with the intention of collecting old vine stocks and replant them in a different location. Instead, he decided to leave the ancient vine as they were, and bought the land, in order to recreate the old methods and traditional production techniques, emphasized by the absence of chemicals, the characteristic mix of castes and the minimal wine-making processes.

🇵🇹️AGRICULTURA BIODINÂMICA
Em 2009, o jornalista e crítico de vinhos João Afonso chegou à região de Portalegre com o intuito de aí extrair cepas de vinhas velhas para replantar noutro local. Em vez disso, deixou estar as vinhas no local que ocupavam desde tempos imemoriais e comprou a propriedade para aí recriar os métodos antigos e técnicas tradicionais de produção, assentes na ausência de químicos, na mistura de castas e numa vinificação minimalista.
