We are so excited to confirm that our next Transformational Breath seminar in the Algarve will be held at from 2 to 8 September 2024 ❤️

This magical place features a natural swimming pond, indoor and outdoor practice spaces, an ancient aqueduct and a choice of staying in renovated cottages or luxurious glamping tipis amongst the trees 🏕️ - and it's only half an hour from Faro airport ✈️ and within easy reach of white sandy beaches.

Ask almost anyone who has attended a Transformational Breath seminar, and they'll tell you it's a life-changing experience. We get to dive deep into opening our breath patterns with two full breath sessions a day (and one or two shorter ones) and a variety of complimentary tools - and as we change the way we breathe, we change the way we live.

This 6 day residential experience is open to everyone - whether you're planning to become a breathwork facilitator or are looking for more connection with your body, breath, heart and mind.

6 Weeks of Yin Yoga

From 30 April to 4 June
Tuesdays at 5:30pm (75mins)

A six week course exploring the 5 elements of Chinese Medicine & Yin Yoga - water 🌊 wood 🪵 🔥 earth 🌱 metal 🗡️ .

We will explore a different element each week with a sequence structured around the meridians of TCM related to each element, ending with a song or guided meditation every week 💜

The last session will be a journey through all 5 elements based on what came up for us all ⭐

We will begin with the element of Water 🌊 this Tuesday, 30 April.

6 Weeks of Yang/Flow Yoga
Based on the Inbodhi System

From 2 May to 6 June
Thursdays at 11:30am (60-90mins)

An exploration of the 5 main sequences which make up the Inbodhi System (previously It's Yoga) as developed by Larry Schultz (student of Pattabhi Jois and private yoga teacher to the Grateful Dead).

Modified Primary Series ✨ Rocket 1 ✨ Rocket 2 ✨ Rocket 3 ✨ Full Primary Series ✨

We will begin with a mini Sun Salute workshop on Thursday 2 May, which will give us the basis for a short 10 minute home practice as well us providing us with the building blocks for a safe and effective Ashtanga or Vinyasa practice of any kind 😊

We will then explore a different sequence every week - each practice will have plenty of options for all levels.

The pause is where the magic is revealed to us; the principles of living a good life, a life where we live our dreams, where we live our truth, where we live in knowledge." -- Larry Schultz.

After 6 weeks or more of my whole family being on and off unwell, I am slowly getting re-acquainted with my mat. Everything is stiff and achy, but I can breathe and move again - even just for a bit - and it feels good to re-connect, take those pauses, and look at my life.

Yoga is about slowing down, even when we practice a fast-paced sequence. It's about ahimsa - practicing non-violence - in body and mind - and learning to let go.

So I am letting go of the 200hr training and the Transformational Breath seminar planned for this May - the truth is that I don't have the time or energy anymore/yet to organise all these events back to back. Mothering a toddler, still processing grief and all the practical aspects of death and inheritance, recording an album and still growing roots in a new country are enough!

There will still be classes, workshops, next week's seminar and another seminar this September - but the next few months will be about re-connecting and re-evaluating how I want to show up. Taking a pause and looking at the picture. A picture of transition rather than a pose, because it's in the transitions that we learn about ourselves and grow ✨

We have dates for our first 200hr Yoga Teacher Training here in the Algarve, held nestled amongst natural beauty at .yucca !

My 200hr with what was then It's Yoga Firenze ( ) was life changing on so many levels... It was the first time I really tapped into my intuition and LISTENED - the first time I was able to stop thinking and start FEELING - and the first time I was introduced to the idea that we CREATE our own reality.

There was also lots of resistance, huge changes in my physical body and health through intensive practice, and a sense of becoming part of this beautiful international commUNITY through which I met some of my closest friends, guides, teachers and students.

For various reasons we decided to split this event into two modules of two weeks - perhaps making it a little easier for people to take time off work or family life, yet without squeezing a full curriculum into 3 weeks.

This means there is plenty of time to integrate everything without losing the benefits of an intensive training. ❤️

You can stay at the venue or at your own accommodation - and there is an option to join us for a 'create your own retreat' experience if you do not wish to train (or already have).

The wonderful .sofia will be assisting - and perhaps other members of the INBODHI tribe too!

Join me for a Yin Yoga & Breath Journey in a lovely secret garden close to Cabanas de Tavira at the end this month - an opportunity to take some time out to nourish our bodies and souls.

This journey is all about you taking that time to 'just be'.

We will begin with a nurturing Yin yoga practice, before moving into our breath and ending with some live music - with an invitation to share a picnic and a swim in the Ria afterwards.

Yin Yoga works with the meridians as well as the connective tissues of the body to help us let go of long held tension on every level. Working with our breath through various pranayama practices supports not only the letting go of physical tensions - inhibiting a full and open breath - but can also help to meet and resolve emotions and experiences we hold in our bodies.

More than ever, the past year and a half has taught me that staying connected to my yoga practice does not always consist of spending 60-90 minutes on my yoga mat…. Here are some alternatives which help me to (re)connect:

1) Just BE: Soften your gaze - whether you're sitting on a park bench, at your desk, or are walking down the street - and begin to notice how your body feels. Where do you feel good? Where would you like to soften? Notice your breath - is it even or do you stop breathing at certain points? There is no messing up, and no need to change anything - this is just about becoming present in the here and now.

2) Conscious Breathing: Close your eyes. Breathe in through your nose, pause, and breathe out through your mouth, slowly. Count your breath: in for 4, hold for 4, and out for 8. You can increase your hold to 6 or 7 counts if you like. Do this at least 5 times. Conscious breathing helps to regulate your nervous system and gives you a break from your mumbling, bumbling mind.

3) Mula Bandha: Bring your attention to your pelvic floor. After a few seconds, start to lift it - just a little - it feels a bit like holding in a p*e! Let go and engage a few more times or keep it lifted for a bit longer before you release. We're looking for a gentle engagement which still allows us to stay relaxed. This is particularly helpful in stressful situations as our Mula Bandha keeps us grounded. It also contributes to strength, flexibility and presence in our yoga practice.

4) Sun Salutes: For the moments when you do roll out your yoga mat but don't have time to practice a full sequence or go to a class - simply flowing through 3-5 sun salutes a day can make a world of difference. This is a great habit for maintaining your strength, flexibility, and peace of mind - and it only takes about 10 minutes. Remember to keep breathing throughout. Try to follow this up with at least a couple of minutes of Savasana (lying down relaxation).

Last week I felt some of my old strength returning.

Just a split second of finding balance - not chasing a pose or perfection but simply re-connecting with the childlike joy of moving my body with my breath.

A reminder that it is often out of darkness or challenges that we rise up with the most strength and lightness... ❤️

As we practice yoga, we watch poses appear and disappear - during a single practice, but also over the months and years as our bodies and minds go through changes. Sometimes they come back - sometimes they don't. Sometimes another pose appears instead. That's why there are no beginners or advanced practitioners at Inbodhi - we are simply exploring our current experience at any moment in time! 🤸⭕

Meet Michèle - founder & director of and one of our facilitators for our upcoming Inbodhi retreat here in the ❤️

"I’ve been on quite a journey. A journey of faith and transformation. I am dedicated to working with the human body and its ability to heal itself.

The year 2003 was a decisive year for me because, in addition to obtaining my PhD from Berkeley, I met Larry Schultz, the creator of the Rocket technique of Ashtanga Yoga, and following a 200 Hour It's Yoga teacher training, I became a certified teacher in San Francisco. In 2004, I moved from the United States to Florence where I opened my first It's Yoga studio.

It was 2015, which marked a sea change when following a nearly fatal accident, my life was saved thanks to my knowledge of yogic breathing techniques. Unfortunately, my left leg was amputated. Knowing how to breathe was what saved me - and the consequences of the event, leaving me bed-bound for 8 months, led me to explore other ways to connect and heal, this time without moving my physical body.

I began to chant, training with Menaka Desikachar through the Krishnamacharya Healing and Yoga Foundation, becoming a Certified Vedic Chant Teacher. The practice allowed me to keep tuning into a Higher Source at a time when a yoga asana practice was unthinkable; and even though I have since returned to my yoga mat (still standing on my hands!), I continue to chant with my teacher every week.

A year after the event, Transformational Breath® came into my life, supporting me on my journey towards self-empowerment. In 2019 I completed the Professional training program to become a Transformational Breath® Facilitator – I have also been studying healing practices with Amazonian tribes and the Paqo Andinos (Despacho Rituals) of Holy Mountain Traditions in Peru. It is my mission as a facilitator of these practices to support others in having the tools to heal - tools we can learn and understand for ourselves, so that we may be independent in our own journey of transformation. 

It’s not what happens to you, but what you do with it that is important.

The feedback we've been getting was that the venue for our March retreat was just a little too expensive.... So we listened and made another change - this is Quinta do Silêncio, 20 minutes from Tavira, with our own pool and tastefully decorated rooms.

We'll be practicing outside when we can, with 340m2 at our disposal!

'We encourage our students to bring life into the pose by letting go of the form (i.e. creating a perfect triangle in Uttitha Trikonasana), and focusing on the function of the pose on the mat. By function, we mean how the pose makes us feel. Yoga is meant to feel good; to calm our bodies and minds as we strengthen them. Those people who are overly concerned with form, may not pay enough attention to how their body is functioning. They can do the asanas and look great, but if they are tired and distracted, they are not psychologically or physically healthy. In urging students to pay attention to how their body is functioning, we ask them to pay attention to how they feel at the present moment. Acknowledging our feelings, we search for movement within the stillness of a posture to discover what drishti, what stretch, what placement of our hands and feet creates a pose that feels good to our bodies and minds. As our bodies are different every day, our poses will be different as well. [...] “If your body is changing, accept it and change your practice.”'

Happy New Year! 🎉🎊

Pay what you can Rocket 🚀 classes are starting at in Tavira tonight 💗

This will be a mixed levels class and is open to all. 😊

If you haven't tried this invigorating (and fun!) practice before... Rocket is based on Ashtanga but takes the hierarchy out of the practice - over time you'll get to try the more 'challenging' poses but there are always options and modifications.

We are all beginners and advanced in various aspects of the practice - every day is different and we approach yoga with the playfulness of children. ⭐

These routines were developed by Larry Schultz in the late 80s/early 90s while he was touring with the Grateful Dead as their private yoga instructor as a way of making the benefits of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga accessible to all... (and with those musical origins we love a good energising playlist during classes too!)

As we become familiar with the sequences they evolve into a moving breathing meditation where we watch poses appear and disappear. ❤️

I ( ) have been sharing this practice for over 8 years now and am coming back to regular teaching after maternity leave so we will take it easy!

Just two weeks until we get to sit in this magical circle again!

Our next 200hr Teacher Training begins in exactly two weeks - spread out over 8 months, the weekend version allows for plenty of space for this journey of transformation. ✨

So what exactly happens during a teacher training? Sure, we break down all the poses, work out our personal alignment, learn how to facilitate and cover some yoga history, philosophy and anatomy.

But the most magical part of the experience is the process of self-reflection and self-awareness that comes with building an intimate relationship with our practice, both on and off the mat... So much so that many of our graduates have described their training as life-changing ❤️
