☘️ Hands - shaping our future - Under the guidance of the Hands team, the children learned various techniques to beautify and repurpose the bottles within the Recycling workshop. We provided them with materials, including paints, brushes, strings, and other decorative elements. They had the freedom to experiment and express their individuality. By repurposing the bottles, the children contributing to a cleaner and greener future. At the
end of the session, they took home their upcycled creations.
🫶 DIY Bottle Recycling Workshop aimed to stimulate creativity while promoting recycling and environmental protection.
In this workshop, we gathered Ukrainian and Romanian children to discover the magic of transforming ordinary bottles into little works of art. Together, we explored upcycling and learned how to give used bottles a new purpose. ✅
Some memories from our Photography Workshop and Books discovery session 🌼
🧒 With great pleasure, we announce an important collaborator that we have in our Hands project. Meet Maria Truta and Social Enterprise.
Fototeca is a social enterprise active on the creative playground of Arad, offering services in photography, videography, and graphics. Through its services, Fototeca redirects 85% of its profit to support children’s educational development in Arad County!
🎒 Maria, the manager of Fototeca, has joined us on our 12-month journey with her extensive experience in working with children, as a librarian and mentor. She will share the Fototeca books for children to discover the universe of reading and her workspace for our monthly activities. Thank you, dear Maria, for all the support in facilitating the non-formal activities.
🌈 We are very grateful for such a great chance to have this social enterprise with us throughout our project and for the great help it provides to the team to implement its activities.
🌱Together in the Hands team, we are focusing on minimizing the gap between children that come from different backgrounds and finding ways to host inclusion, welcome them into our community, and create a space for interculturality where there are no barriers, stereotypes, or prejudices.
🤝 We want the children to benefit from the same rights, and offer them the possibility to continue their learning in a non-formal approach, to benefit from free materials, and the possibility to create, and discover new ways of evolving and adapting in a safe multicultural environment.
Meet the Hands team members!
📸 We invite Ukrainian and Romanian children to a new activity within the Hands project at , a social enterprise in the field of audio-visual that also houses a collection of books and child-friendly items. During this session, we will have the opportunity to explore the studio, meet Maria, the owner, and engage in a collective photography project.
🤝 The theme of the activity revolves around solidarity, inclusion, and interculturality. We will learn about the power of photography as a means of expressing ideas and capturing moments that reflect these important values.
Under Maria's guidance, we will take our photographs, experiment with different angles and perspectives, and learn about the art of visual storytelling.
🎭 This activity will foster creativity, encourage teamwork, and promote a sense of unity among the participants. It will take place at Fototeca's photo studio, where all the necessary materials, including cameras and props, will be provided.

🌿 The Transgenerational Planting activity within the Hands project will take place on the 14th of July, in The “Mihai Eminescu” park of Arad. This activity will be a collaborative gardening workshop that aims to allow children and parents to bond and learn together.
🌼 The participants will be able to engage in a hands-on workshop following the planting process of Persil seeds and beans as well. With this activity, we hope to teach the children the joy of growing and taking care of plants. All the materials for this workshop is provided by the Hands project. The children and the parents can take home their plants.
Another activity within our project successfully ended. Today was about self awareness and self development, blended with a colourful collage activity!

Meet the Hands team members :)
Who are we? - Hands team
The Hands project was created as a continuation of a volunteering opportunity that took place in Arad in 2020, during the pandemic. Some of the members of the previous team decided to reunite, add new teammates to the group and continue what they had started through a new initiative.
🎨 Personal Journal Activity is coming up on the 12th of July. The workshop will focus on the theme of personal development and will have the form of a collage activity. The children will be able to pick up from 4 examples of animal-themed collages previously chosen by the Hands team or choose from their own ideas They will cut, glue, draw and embellish the materials that we will provide. Through this activity, we will explore different artistic techniques and expressions.
📔 The children can take home their creations, as well as a personal journal previously created by the hand's team that highlights the importance of self-reflection.
The Children's Rights activity took place on July 7th. Ukrainian children were invited to participate in a new activity as part of the Solidarity Project Hands, shaping our future. The masterclass focused on helping the children discover their rights through a non-formal workshop. The workshop utilized art and different approaches to create eye-catching artworks using simple elements easily found. The class aimed to develop the children's artistic skills and explore abstract design, textures, and dimensions.
Four approaches were utilized during the workshop: Blot Art, Spin Art, Marble Art, and Salt Painting. All materials were provided by the Hands team, and assistance was available. The children had the opportunity to take their creations home, along with a poster displaying four of the Children's rights.
ℹ️In April, two members of the Hands team, together with their coach joined a meeting in Budapest in the context of the Well-support project.
The 3-day meeting aimed to gather organizations and individual supporters, specifically those involved in support activities for Ukrainian refugees in the partner countries.
We were proud to work together in developing a matrix of well-being that can be used by organizations and individuals involved in supporting others. The occasion offered us the possibility to talk about our Solidarity Project, to explain the vision and the objectives, as well as to present the partners with the activities that take place throughout the one-year project!
The informative flyers regarding Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps opportunities through our Hands-Shaping Our Future project were successfully spread. We are on to spread the word about these amazing programs and will be distributing the flyers throughout our community for the next months.
Hands team
Within the Hands project, we created a personal development journal for the Romanian and Ukrainian children participating in their monthly workshops. Through this journal, the children will be able to explore their personalities through the reflection questions they will have as props on 3 topics:
✨Who am I
✨What do I like
✨Who do I want to be when I grow up
☘️ They also have an extra section that serves for freestyle writing for those who want to continue their journaling ☘️
🖼️ We are very proud to announce that the first workshop of the Hands project was a success!
🖌️ On the 17th of January, we had 10 Ukrainian and 2 Romanian children attending our Painting Workshop! We had a great time getting to know each other, practicing English, and discovering the children's creativity. They had great energy to follow the step-by-step painting process and left home with bright smiles and colorful canvases!
