It's simple to fall into the victims trap. It's a very common and frequently found trap, we all end up in it at some point in life and that's not because it's a comfortable place to be (as some may accuse you of).

This victim perspective comes from past experiences: trauma of true victimization, experience of betrail of trust, codependent relationships or, in some causes, personality disorders or narcissistic tendencies.

Interacting with someone who always see themself as a victim can be challenging, especially if it's a close person. Thay will have a hard time taking responsibility for their mistakes and could blame others when things go wrong. So, what can you do about it?
* compassionate set boundaries
* don't encourage the victim behaviors (complaining, blaming, catastrophizing, etc.)
* ofer help in finding real solutions
* validate their feelings and their strengths

If you're the one feeling like a victim most of the time, then taking with a therapist might be a great way to start working on that mindset. It could be untreated trauma you're facing and that could lead to depression, relational issues or even physical and emotional difficulties. A therapist can help you with understanding your past and develop self-compassion, identify and use your resources and personal strengths, create a plan for reaching your goals and recognising your power.

The most powerful lessons are those we get to show to ourselves, not tell. Saying NO is very powerful teacher, a valuable opportunity to show ourselves we are fully capable of feeling safe happy on our own, without depending on others to feel worthy.

Have you experienced any of the 3 lessons of saying no? Please share your experience as it could bring a huge support to those starting on this path of saying yes to themselves more.

Changing your life for the better, adopting new ways of living implies also letting go of old ones. There's a lot we carry on with us in life - learned behaviors, thoughts, beliefs, coping mechanisms. Some of them may be helpful, but some of them may be unhealthy, & all of them stem from the stories we tell ourselves about life, about ourselves. Changing that story, letting go to parts of it that don't service us anymore, is paramount. Remember that you are the main character in your story, but you're also the writer and the narator. Get them to work together to towards a wonderful journey.

Coping mechanism are good. Some of them are healthy (like humor or moderate exercise or even crying) but some are not (like avoiding social interaction or overeating).
All behaviors have a reason behing. Sometimes that reason is real, sometimes it's not. Understanding your reality better, helps you find better and more effective coping mechanisms.

Ask yourself: what do I want for myself today? What would make me happy today? Then see to it.
