Formare certificare in Psihoterapie integrativa relationala centrata pe dezvoltare-Richard Erskine.
MENTALIZING refers to our ability to attend to mental states in ourselves and in others as we attempt to understand our own actions and those of others on the basis of intentional mental states.
If we are mentalizing successfully, we are able to understand what is going on in our own minds and in the minds of other people, and realise how this is effecting the emotions, thoughts, and actions of ourselves and others. This understanding of our own perspectives as well as those of other people leads to more successful interactions and social relationships.
===
INTEGRATIVE THINKING is the ability to constructively face the tensions of opposing models, and instead of choosing one at the expense of the other, generating a creative resolution of the tension in the form of a new model that contains elements of the both models, but is superior to each.
===
Mentalization--based treatment promotes clients’ ability to interpret the meaning of others’ behavior by considering their underlying mental states and intentions, as well as clients’ capacity to understand the impact of their own behaviors on others.

Winnicott (1949), in his seminal paper, "Mind and Its Relation
to the Psyche-Soma," was the first to describe how very early in life
an individual can, in response to environmental failure, turn away
from the body and its needs and establish "mental functioning as a
thing in itself."
Winnicott's elusive term, the mind psyche, describes a subtle, yet fundamentally violent split in which the mind negates the role of the body, its feelings, and functions as the source of creative living. "The mind in such a case has a false function and a life of its own, and it dominates the psyche-soma instead of being a special function of the psyche-soma" (Winnicott 1988, p. 140).
Elaborating upon Winnicott's notions of precocious mental functioning, Masud Khan ( 1971) speaks of a "precocious structuralization of the developmental process," a "rigid premature structuring of internalized primary objects and fantasies and a negativity toward all new experience and object-relations" (p. 220).

"We are aware that the best therapy sessions are those in which all
participants are in an altered state of consciousness or “flow” state,
in which time, as we know it, ceases, when we are transported to
another reality. It is when we seem to be able to read each other’s
minds—and hearts. It is when we become more fully aware of
things inside us, and between us, but at the same time we become
less aware of everything else outside the room. It happens with
those altogether rare sessions when we are startled “awake” by the
realization that the session has ended, time’s up, time to move
back into the other world that awaits. It is when we feel trans-
ported together to a different place in which we feel more open to
new possibilities, new options, to being influenced by one another
in ways that wouldn’t be otherwise possible. It is when there is
either a sense of peace and centeredness or profound agitation
and emotional arousal, each of which can spark new learning and
potential growth. It is when walls collapse and boundaries become
temporarily invisible or blurred. It is when words can’t begin to
describe what happened, much less explain why. In fact, it is when
we try to make sense of the experience and demystify it that it may
lose its magic.
Being present is synonymous with being aware and in deep
focus. It involves being open and receptive to another".

"Unfortunately, when a one-size-fits-all therapist develops an
overfocused, single-issue notion of the cause (or cure) of all, or
almost all, mental problems, the risk to the patient is great. The
patient’s current life issues tend to be ignored. The patient’s personal history gets revised and reinterpreted to fit the therapist’s narrow notions. In effect, real therapy never begins because the
therapist is too busy ignoring or reinterpreting what the patient
wants and needs to deal with. Instead, the patient is led down a garden path by the therapist, and consequently the patient does not
receive appropriate care, nor are the presenting problems dealt with. In a sense, these patients become pawns in a scenario that will ultimately be used to confirm the therapist’s idealized theory, usually the latest fad therapy".

chapter 6 Ethical Values of Master Therapists - Abstract
This chapter presents a study in which the authors employed Consensual Qualitative Research (CQR) methods (Hill, Thompson, & Williams,1997) to reanalyze interview data from a previous qualitative study of the personal characteristics of master therapists (Jennings & Skovholt, 1999).
The purpose of the study was to better understand the ethical values of therapists considered to be “the best of the best” by their professional colleagues. Previous research has demonstrated that therapists utilize a variety of resources when making ethical decisions, including professional codes of conduct and their own values. The current study’s analysis of 10 master therapists’ interviews resulted in the identification of nine ethical values related to their clinical practice: (a) relational connection, (b) autonomy, (c) beneficence, (d) nonmaleficence, (e) competence, (f) humility, (g) professional growth, (h) openness to complexity and ambiguity, and (i) self-awareness. It is hoped that these findings will help to illuminate the ethical values that these master therapists draw upon in their work.
When examining practitioners’ professional ethics, three general principles emerge: respect for people’s rights, dignity, integrity, and privacy; compassion and responsible caring; and feeling a sense of responsibility for the community. Furthermore, the practitioners described additional values they believed were fundamental in their work: encouraging clients’ self-determination, advocacy for vulnerable clients, confidentiality and informed consent, strength-based empowerment, and paying attention to the best interests of the client under unique circumstances.

Master Therapists: Exploring Expertise in Therapy and Counseling, 10th Anniversary Edition
Ten peer-nominated, active practitioners representing four different professions were interviewed by three interviewers for a total of over 100 hours. Based on the data from these interviews, we offer a portrait of the master therapist as well as an exploration of central characteristics, emotional wellness and resiliency of masters, how they construct the therapy relationship, ethical values of these experts, a history of the concept of expertise, and a description of our research methods.

Louis Cozolino - Dezvoltarea terapeutului

The COMPLEX PTSD Treatment Manual. An Integrative, Mind-Body Approach to Trauma Recovery - Arielle Schwartz, PhD:
"Many mental health practitioners are trained in the treatment of single traumatic events and the diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However, more often, our clients come to therapy with an extensive history of trauma that begins in childhood and continues into adulthood with layers of personal, relational, societal, or cultural losses. This is complex PTSD (C-PTSD), a diagnostic term that accounts for the consequences of repeated or chronic traumatization. In some cases, this form of trauma begins in early childhood when individuals experience repeated abuse or profound neglect, though C-PTSD also arises as a result of ongoing social stress, such as racialized trauma, living in poverty, or growing up in a war-torn country".
"In contrast to single-incident PTSD, C-PTSD occurs as a result of repeated or chronic exposure to extremely threatening events from which escape is impossible. C-PTSD is associated with a longer duration and greater intensity of traumatic stress. Situations that might elicit complex traumatization include torture, prolonged domestic violence, prolonged captivity, chronic discrimination, genocide, and the unrelenting distress of being a refugee separated from one’s family and country. In addition, C-PTSD can arise as a result of developmental trauma, which includes childhood sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, exposure to domestic violence, having a parent with untreated mental illness, and having a parent who abuses alcohol or other substances".
"It is common for individuals with complex trauma to have been in therapy for many years. They may feel cautious about therapy because of historical experiences where they have been misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or blamed for their symptoms. They may come to therapy reluctantly, with well-constructed defenses and somatic tension that serve as armor to protect them from underlying terror, helplessness, and shame. Some tread water in a sea of chronic overwhelm. They may struggle to sleep at night due to their heightened sensitivity to perceived threats and reliance on primitive survival instincts to defend themselves. Others have had to disconnect from their body and emotions altogether. For most, these protective behaviors have been necessary for their survival, and they will not surrender these sources of protection easily.
Clients who have survived persistent and chronic traumatization are savvy, and they will sense if we lack authenticity or genuineness in our approach to therapy. It is our job to earn their trust, which is a task that can be challenging, especially if they have experienced betrayal in previous relationships. However, if we do our jobs well, we might be given a sacred task: to bear witness to their suffering and attend compassionately to their wounds".

“What does it take to practice relational psychotherapy for thirty years?”
It takes the passion for the healing power of relationship (...). But like any other profession, it also requires specific traits of mind and personality. If you enjoy being a relational therapist, you enjoy entering into the stories of people’s lives. Though these stories are sometimes hard to hear, you also find them meaningful, like powerful plays or novels. You’re not afraid of your clients’ strong feelings, and you can feel your own feelings deeply. You’re good at pattern recognition, and also at putting complicated ideas into simple, evocative language. You can think on your feet and take quick, considered risks, but you’re not impulsive or reactive. You understand and manage your own emotions well. You can sit quietly for long periods of time, and you have an abundance of patience with long, slow processes. You are able to balance your life: for all the time you spend listening and caring, you spend plenty of other time being active, self-expressive, and connected to others in ways that invigorate and nurture you.These personal characteristics are INTEGRATED into a professional relational therapist-self through specific training in relational psychotherapy, training that includes both book learning and practical learning from closely supervised work with clients. And though you may be exquisitely well-suited for the work and quite well-trained, to thrive for 30 years in a relational therapy practice, you also need a strong community of peers with whom you can continue to grow and learn.
Relational Psychotherapy. A Primer - Patricia A. DeYoung
Fundamental Principles
The central philosophical orientation—the fundamental principles—of integrative psychotherapy include:
Acknowledging that people are relation ship seeking and interdependent through out life;
Affirming the innate value of human beings;
Normalizing the functions of psychological processes;
Committing to positive life change;
Focusing on internal and external contact as essential to human functioning;
Emphasizing the developmental process of the individual;
Recognizing the significance of the therapeutic relationship.
These principles guide integrative therapists in their therapeutic methods by providing a value system about therapeutic process and, especially, the relationship of the client with the therapist.

"To be a fully effective, resilient and creative helping professional requires us to be a reflective practitioner. To be truly an effective practitioner requires us not only to reflect on our current work and relationships but to step back and explore both our motivations and our core beliefs, which, if left unseen and out of awareness, can
drive unhealthy patterns, both for ourselves and the clients we work with; patterns such as overwork, unsustainable practice, poor practice or even unethical behaviour".
(Supervision in the Helping Professions - Peter Hawkins and Robin Shohet)
"The chief purpose of a supervision group is to increase the therapeutic skills of members. But it also offers additional benefits in friendship, networking, sharing information on professional issues, and learning for its own sake. It provides a rare sanctuary where therapists can let their hair down, kvetch, laugh, compare experiences, and find consolation".
