The Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) change of appointments ceremony was held at Headquarters Multinational Corps South-East on August 6th.
The ceremony included an emotional farewell for Chief Warrant Officer Yannick Godbout, at the end of his service as CSEL: “I have the privilege to have made this Headquarters multinational. I was the first non-Romanian to arrive in this unit and I saw it growing and growing and getting better every day. What I will miss the most is the people. Dedicated, smart, helpful…Thank you all for supporting me.”
Also, on this occasion, Chief Warrant Officer Éric Normand from Canada, was warmly welcomed as the new Corps’ CSEL. In his inaugural address he expressed his gratitude for this opportunity: “I hope that I will bring fresh perspectives and ideas, and I ensure you I shall give my best in this new position.”
As a sign of appreciation for the high professionalism and the significant contribution to the activities of HQ MNC-SE, Commander of MNC-SE, Major General Cristian Dan, presented Chief Warrant Officer Yannick Godbout with the Emblem of Honor of the Defense Staff, and wished him success in the future activities.

HQ MNC-SE member, George-Valentin Radu, attended the Olympic Triathlon race last Sunday, August 4th. Our colleague competed in the longest race: swimming - 1.500 meters, cycling - 40 km and running - 10 km, one of the races part of the Sibiu Triathlon Challenge sport event.
To put it in perspective, this type of triathlon is comparable to a marathon running, in terms of how long it takes and level of difficulty. It also puts a high stress on racer’s body, as the effort is spread across the three different sports, and because of having to switch from one to the other during the competition.
Radu is an enthusiastic triathlon competitor, attending this kind of race many times. Due to the specificity of it, our colleague needed to train for each sport comprised in the triathlon. And one can imagine that is hard to be a good swimmer, rider and runner all at once. He also used this sport event to promote HQ MNC-SE within the civilian community.

Graduates of the "Nicolae Bălcescu" Land Forces Academy in Sibiu, Class of 2024 –
“Avram Iancu-200", experienced today the excitement of the graduation and granting of the first officer rank,‭ ‬which culminates their commitment to becoming officers.

MNC-SE Commander, Major General Cristian Dan, participated in the event together with military and civilian teaching staff, representatives of local authorities and national defence and security structures.

𝐄𝐀𝐆𝐋𝐄 𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐇
The NATO Battlegroup in Romania conducted the multinational exercise EAGLE TRENCH with the participation of Soldiers from French, Belgium, Romania and North Macedonia on Camp Berthelot, Cincu from 15 to 19 July.

The main objective of EAGLE TRENCH was to increase interoperability between NATO allies focusing on trench warfare and specific procedures at tactical level.

Chief of the Luxembourg Defence Staff, General Steve Thull conducted an official visit to Headquarters Multinational Corps South-East (HQ MNC-SE) on 23th of July aiming to review Corps role and responsibilities, as well as engaging with the command personnel.

The senior military official was welcomed by the Romanian Chief of Defence, General Gheorghiță Vlad, and by the Deputy Commander of MNC-SE, Major General Abdullah Soydemir. General Thull was also taken on a tour of the military facility and provided with comprehensive briefings on the command’s mission, current missions and exercises, thus being offered a clear overview of the achievements and the way ahead.

The visit is part of the MNC-SE’s ongoing commitment to strengthening relationships between the Member Nations and the NATO Force Structure in the region, emphasizing our Alliance's solidarity, cooperation, and mutual support.

A military ceremony was held on 10 July to congratulate members of the HQ MNC-SE for their achievements during training missions, introduce the newly arrived personnel, and bid farewell to colleagues who ended their tour of duty at Headquarters Multinational Corps South-East.
A part of the ceremony was represented by an emotional farewell for Brigadier General Valentin Brînzei, at the end of his service as Chief of Staff in HQ MNC-SE. In his farewell speech, he mentioned that ”Working these last 2 years in HQ MNC-SE was a great experience. I have learned a lot, gained knowledge and developed new skills during my service in a multinational context. Thank you all!”.
As a sign of appreciation for the high professionalism and the significant contribution to the activities of HQ MNC-SE, Commander of MNC-SE, Major General Cristian Dan, congratulated Brigadier General Brînzei for his involvement and wished him success in his new position. Also, the commander addressed a warm welcome to the newcomers and thanked colleagues who ended their mission in HQ for their service.

A delegation from MNC-SE monitored the 282nd Armored Brigade “Unirea Principatelor” training with its subordinate units during the last stage of their Combat Readiness Evaluation (CREVAL) process, from 02 to 08 July.
Justice Sword 24 Exercise, organized in Smardan Training Area, was the final exam for the Brigade, as the personnel from the 282nd Armored Brigade successfully combined the effects of infantry, tank, artillery and aviation weapons. They made a clear commitment to ensuring the collective ability to defend the territory of all NATO Allies.

On Tuesday, 2 July, representatives from the ROU Cyber Command conducted a training session for the staff of Headquarters Multinational Corps South-East (HQ MNC-SE) in Sibiu. The aim of the training event was to facilitate the implementation of new IT tools designed to enhance the workflow and information sharing in a collaborative manner.
ROU Cyber Command, a long-standing partner of HQ MNC-SE, continuously cooperates with various NATO Commands within the information technology domain by exchanging personnel and technical expertise to ensure optimal adaptation and mutual improvement. Commander MNC-SE, Major General Cristian Dan, participated in the Allied Reaction Force (ARF) stand-up ceremony at the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Italy in Solbiate Olona, on 1st of July. ARF enhances NATO capability and readiness and demonstrates Allied cohesion and resolve. MNC-SE is looking forward to cooperating and working together with ARF to protect the safe and secure environment in our area of operations.

Approximately 50 multinational representatives from NATO Command and Force structures participated in the Allied Command Operations Military Training and Exercise Programme Planning Board III, from 18 to 20 June and the Exercise Budget Users Group-III on the 20 June, major training events hosted by the Headquarters Multinational Corps South East (HQ MNC-SE) in Sibiu.
The aim of these meetings consisted in the identification of resources, de-confliction, synchronisation, and sequencing collective trainings and exercises. These events highlighted and enhanced Allied cohesion, as well as operational integration and coherence.
In the same time, the conferences facilitated face to face interaction, exchange of experiences, sharing of knowledge and best practices, all of which led to a successful and productive outcome.

A military ceremony was held today at the HQ MNC-SE to introduce and welcome the recently arrived personnel. The Commander of MNC-SE, Major General Cristian Dan, addressed a warm welcome to the newcomers and wished them success.
The newcomers expressed appreciation for the opportunity to work in a multinational environment and assured the staff they will perform to the best of their knowledge in the new positions.

𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐮 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚
Representatives from MNC-SE, led by Commander Major General Cristian Dan, participated in the hand over – take over (HOTO) ceremony for the NATO Forward Land Force Battle Group (FLF BG), with France as the Framework Nation, on 17 June at the Cincu Training Area in Romania.
During the ceremony, the FLF BG site was named "General Berthelot Camp" in honor of General Henri Mathias Berthelot, a French hero symbolizing the strong ties between France and Romania. A commemorative plaque was unveiled inside the compound to pay tribute to General Berthelot.
The event was attended by French and Romanian civilian and military officials, as well as FLF BG troops from Belgium and Luxembourg. The activities included a camp visit, speeches, the awarding of medals and emblems, a static display of military equipment and vehicles, and a tactical exercise.

𝐈𝐍𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐓𝐔𝐒 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐟-𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧

Representatives from HQ MNC-SE, led by Major General Cristian Dan, participated in the INVICTUS Heroes Half-Marathon ( ), which has just concluded in the city center of Bistrita. The event, organized by INVICTUS Romania ( ), had two primary goals: commemorating all service members who lost their lives while serving in the armed forces, and promoting sports activities.
This event, which saw great turnout both nationally and internationally, served as a platform to strengthen community ties across the country.

Multinational personnel assigned to HQ MNC-SE participated in a ceremony today to honor the service and sacrifice of the fallen heroes, by laying wreaths at the Heroes' Monuments from Sibiu.

The event organized by the Sibiu Garrison Command was attended by active duty, reserve and retired military personnel, war veterans and representatives of local authorities.
