📍 Assumption Cathedral and Monastery of the town-island of Sviyazhsk

✅ The Assumption Cathedral is located in the town-island of Sviyazhsk, 30 km from Kazan, and is part of the monastery of the same name. Situated at the confluence of the Volga, the Sviyaga and the Shchuka rivers, at the crossroads of the Silk and Volga routes, Sviyazhsk was founded by Ivan the Terrible in 1551.

✅ It was from this outpost that he initiated the conquest of the Kazan Khanate. The Assumption Monastery illustrates in its location and architectural composition the political and missionary programme developed by Tsar Ivan IV to extend the Moscow state. The cathedral’s frescoes are among the rarest examples of Eastern Orthodox mural paintings.

✅ The historical and architectural complex of Sviyazhsk includes four monasteries, three churches, two cathedrals, a bell tower, and a monument to victims of political repressions.
The unique location of Sviyazhsk, the majestic ancient temples, the rich history of the island and modern museums attract many guests.

🟢 Architectural Ensemble of the Trinity Sergius Lavra in Sergiev Posad 🟢

The Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius is one the most important Russian monasteries and the spiritual centre of the Russian Orthodox Church. The monastery is situated in the town of Sergiyev Posad, about 90 from Moscow.

The monastery was founded in 1345 by one of the most venerated Russian saints, Sergius of Radonezh, who built a wooden church in honour of the Holy Trinity at the Makovets Hill. This is a fine example of a working Orthodox monastery, with military features that are typical of the 15th to the 18th century, the period during which it developed. The main church of the Lavra, the Cathedral of the Assumption, contains the tomb of Boris Godunov. Among the treasures of the Lavra is the famous icon, The Trinity, by Andrei Rublev.

🇷🇺 Moscow is the best metropolis in the world in terms of quality of life and infrastructure development according to UN-Habitat's City Prosperity Index (CPI) 👆 This conclusion was reached by experts from UN-Habitat, the United Nations Human Settlements Program for sustainable urban development.

🚢 The first nuclear-powered icebreaker in the world was built in Leningrad (now St Petersburg).

The «Lenin» is an engineering masterpiece of its time and it was a real breakthrough in Soviet shipbuilding. The icebreaker was in service for 30 years from 1959, before it was put to eternal parking in Murmansk in 1989 ⚓

Now, the nuclear icebreaker stands in the Murmansk seaport and operates as a museum: the nuclear installation and engines have been dismantled. During the tour, visitors will explore the interior: from the dining room to the captain's bridge.

There is a permanent exhibition on board dedicated to the "Atom and the Arctic", which explains the history of the nuclear icebreaker fleet, climatic features and the ecology of the Arctic ⚛️

🇷🇺 Russian capital has applied for the right to host the World Expo 2030 🇷🇺 In case of victory the exhibition period in Moscow will be April, 27 2030 — October, 27 2030.

✒️ Nomination process of Moscow as a candidate city was organized on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation. The Moscow Government fully supported the application and will do everything necessary to make city comfortable and modern venue of the famous exhibition.

Moscow intends to host the main exhibition of the planet. The goal is to organize Expo in Russia for the first time in history.

🏔️ Buryatia is the republic located in the south-central region of Siberia along the eastern shore of Lake Baikal 🌄

🏞️ Over 80% of the republic's territory is located in the mountainous region, including the Baikal Mountains on the northern shores of Lake Baikal, the Ulan-Burgas east of the lake, and the Selenga Highlands in the south near the Mongolia–Russia border. Its capital is Ulan-Ude.

✅ Buryatia is considered to be the cradle of Russian Buddhism ⛩️ The multicolored roofs of the Ivolginsky datsan are visible from afar: this temple complex, a recognized center of Buddhism in Russia, welcomes visitors with bright colors and religious and philosophical traditions rooted in centuries. Datsan is a monument of culture and history of world significance 🛕

✅ In the Republic of Buryatia there are two unique villages Tarbagatai and Desyatnikovo, where the so-called Semey Old Believers live ☸️ Due to the complete isolation and uniqueness of their religious views, the Old Believers have preserved their ancient culture almost in its original form. The Old Believers are well-known for their song culture. Their main difference is the polyphony that came from the ancient polyphonic church chant.

✅ Of course the main attraction of Buryatia is Lake Baikal 🌊 Baikal is pristine beautiful, there are still many protected, mysterious places, untouched and even unseen by man.

However, experienced travelers say that they are attracted not only by this - they have met beauty and exoticism in other places of the planet. But such a powerful energy as on the "sacred sea" was not found and was not felt anywhere in the world. 💦 Baikal is the deepest lake on Earth and the largest natural reservoir of fresh water 💦

❗️ The length of the coastline exceeds 2,000 kilometers, and the depth in some places reaches up to 1,600 meters, its widest part is 81 km.

❄️ Baikal is beautiful and unique in winter ❄️ People come here for ice adventures, thrills and incredibly beautiful ice landscapes. After freezing, the surface of the lake resembles a mirror, and the transparency of the ice is amazing. Standing on its surface, you can clearly see not only the lower edge, but even underwater inhabitants and rocks on the bottom 😳

🗓️ The best time for Baikal Ice tours is from mid-January to the end of March. During this period, the maximum thickness of the ice cover is sufficient for driving cars on the lake’s surface! On average, the ice depth is from between 50 to 115 centimeters.

✅ Irkutsk is the center of the Irkutsk region, located in Eastern Siberia on the banks of the Angara River, 66 km from Lake Baikal. Irkutsk is often perceived as a transit point on the way to Lake Baikal, but the city has a rich historical and cultural heritage.

✅ Listvyanka is a village on the southern shore of the lake, located 60 km from Irkutsk. It is called the gate to Lake Baikal, since most excursions start from here. In Listvyanka, you can visit the Baikal Lake Museum, where you can find out about the flora and fauna of the lake, an astrophysical observatory with the largest solar telescope in Russia and a seal aquarium.

✅ Olkhon Island, called the heart of Lake Baikal, is the largest of the 26 islands on Lake Baikal — this is the geographical, historical and sacred center of the lake. The island is full of local flavor, the spirit of shamanism and ancient Buryat legends.

✅ The Small Sea, this is the strait between the island and the mainland, is famous for the most transparent ice on Lake Baikal, having the clearest and smoothest surface.

7️⃣ small bronze figures of gnomes, sweetly named "homlins" ❤️🧡💛 by the residents of Kaliningrad, appeared in the city.

📍 The figurines were placed next to the city’s key sights — the Amber Museum, the Fishing Village, the vessel "Vityaz", the Amalienau quarter. The “homlins” are so loved by the citizens and guests of Kaliningrad that they have become its symbol.

As the people of Kaliningrad themselves came up with the idea, the “homlins” now represent the good spirits of the city 😇🥰😊

Two Russian wineries 🍇 located in the Krasnodar Region 🇷🇺 were included in this list. 🏆 In 20th place was - the Sikory Winery, and 🏆 in 23rd place the Lefkadia Valley.
