Happy International Women's Day! Today we celebrate the achievements of women around the world and reflect on the progress that has been made towards gender equality.

Our Managing Director Akash Ladha, CA, CPA spoke to 12 startups about 'Investment Readiness' at the SusTech4Africa 2021 Rwanda edition organized by Ondernemers voor Ondernemers vzw in collaboration with BAG Innovation.

ALCPA is proud to announce its successful signing of one of the first CBC in Rwanda with Solid'Africa, an aid organization helping vulnerable patients in the public hospitals of Rwanda.

CBC, also known as Community Benefit Company, was recently introduced in Rwanda for companies with social objectives targeting community development rather than that of a founding individual.

The newly introduced law is for a new form of company that can be registered with the motivation of all profits being reinvested for the community's benefit.
Much like Solid'Africa, all CBCs fall under the umbrella of providing low-income individuals with beneficial products or services such as health or economic aid.

We're excited to see the new phase of business in Rwanda with CBCs and to work with the inspiration that is Solid'Africa

The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing accounting and data entry duties. You will support our business growth and accounting department by data entry of transactions and recording payments in our accounting management information systems. This position will give you the opportunity to grow your accounting knowledge and experience.



Responsibilities

- Update and maintain accounting database with data entry and reports
- Prepare electronic journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
- Maintain General Ledger and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements/reports by gathering data from bank statements, client records and ledger database.
- Prepare and file monthly/quarterly tax annexures/returns.
- Handle day-to-day accounting duties including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and payroll

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field of study
- 1-3 years' of experience working in Accounting/Bookkeeping roles
- Knowledge of Tally ERP is a must
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, Kinyarwanda and French
- Highly detail-oriented
