Day 3 at kicked off with a strong emphasis on diabetes education, reminding campers of the crucial aspects of managing diabetes effectively. During the session on insulin injections, caregivers shared valuable insights on the importance of proper injection techniques. Campers learned about the significance of rotating injection sites to prevent lipohypertrophy, a condition where fatty areas thicken due to repeated injections, and how this affects insulin absorption. Equipped with this knowledge, campers were inspired to take charge of their diabetes management journey confidently.
Another exciting aspect was the sports session, where campers were informed about the benefits of staying active in managing diabetes in a way that engaging in sports enhances insulin sensitivity, making it easier for the body to utilize insulin effectively. Emphasizing the positive impact of physical activity on overall diabetes management, campers were encouraged to explore various sports and activities tailored to their interests and abilities.
