Guy Fawkes was born in 1570 and educated in York; his father died when Fawkes was eight years old, after which his mother married a recusant Catholic.
Fawkes converted to Catholicism and left for mainland Europe, where he fought for Catholic Spain in the Eighty Years' War against Protestant Dutch reformers in the Low Countries. Devoted to his religion he desired a return of England to the Catholic faith. While traveling the continent he met Thomas Wintour, the pair returned to England where they were introduced to Robert Catesby. At the time Catesby was planning an assassination on King James I in the hopes of restoring a Catholic monarch to the throne. Fawkes was placed in charge of the gunpowder that they stockpiled under the House of Lords. Authorities were prompted by an anonymous letter to search Westminster Palace during the early hours of 5 November, and they found Fawkes guarding the explosives. He was questioned and tortured over the next few days and confessed to wanting to blow up the House of Lords.
Fawkes was found guilty and sentenced to be hanged, drawn and quartered. He was to be executed alongside three other conspirators, including Thomas Wintour. He was the last to be executed and had to stand and watch the terrible fate that awaited him. However he died when his neck was broken as he was hanged, with some sources claiming that he deliberately jumped to make this happen. His lifeless body was still drawn and quartered. While not the instigator nor one of the major players he has became synonymous with the Gunpowder Plot, perhaps because he was the one found red handed.The failure of the plot has been commemorated in the UK as Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Bonfire Night, since 5 November 1605, when his effigy is traditionally burned on a bonfire, commonly accompanied by fireworks.

A quick note just to keep everyone updated on our Ukrainian relief work. We have managed today to send £1000 to our colleagues Patrycja Morcinek and Alicja Biadasz in Poland. £1000 to my WCF Collegues Alex Elian and Beverly Elian, working on the Romania/Ukraine Border. £500 to Tatyana Misiyuk working within Kyiv in Ukraine and another £500 to Dmitriy Gubenko working in Lviv. We are so utterly grateful for every kind soul who helped us help them and make this possible ❤️ Our pet food collection is up to about 6000kg now, through the magic of the internet. We have connected with Piotr who will be collecting from Freer Farm and distributing to Patrycja and Alicja. Our superstar Witold Górski will be collecting from Claire Winman and Kinga Edwards next week and delivering to the Polish Ukraine border on our behalf. I so so grateful to the many individuals and companies who have made this happen. My thanks also to Roeann Fulkerson-Chrisope for her incredible support of us. I promise to keep you all updated as we go. From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU. We are so grateful to have this opportunity to help those in need 🇺🇦

At Last … we are delighted to announce that our 2021 Show will be taking place at Mote Park in the Maidstone Leisure Centre in Kent. Our show will be a 6 ring back to back show. We have a stunning line up of Judges for you, many of whom have not visited the U.K. for some time. We will be announcing their names and going live on TOES over the next few days.

We do look forward to seeing our dearly missed friends and their beautiful cats.

Contrary to rumours that seem to be spreading that our show is cancelled,I would like to make it known that Felinology will be going ahead as planned. We are busy working with our venue on covid risk assessments, as required by them, to ensure you all have a safe show. We will open on TOES in the next few days to receive your entries.
