Unposed & natural wedding photography I am a wedding photographer. What is my style?

I shoot not only weddings but I focus on wedding photography the most. I prefer natural, unposed photos. Only such photos best show emotions and feelings. Let my photos tell you about my style of photography. I am South Wales based wedding photographer but very often work in different locations.

The 13th Day

One source for the perceived unlucky nature of the number '13' stems from a Norse myth recounting a dinner party held in Valhalla by 12 gods. The mischievous god Loki, uninvited, intruded as the 13th guest and orchestrated Hรถรฐr's act of shooting Balder with a mistletoe-tipped arrow.

Mistletoe, in essence, symbolizes fertility and life, possibly explaining the tradition of kissing beneath it. During winter, when trees are bare and many plants have withered, mistletoe remains verdant, thriving on tree branches.

I'm not a mythology expert, but if mistletoe means what it means, then the mentioned shooting must have happened out of love.

However, it's worth noting that the number 13 need not always be considered unlucky. This past week, I finalized contracts for wedding photography services, securing three bookings for ceremonies all scheduled on the 13th of various months, none of which fall on a Friday.

If you're considering a wedding on the 13th, promptly securing a photographer is advisable. I still have a few available slots for this date.

Alex and Carrie's wedding in Torquay, a picturesque coastal town located in the United Kingdom, was a momentous occasion filled with love, and joy.

It's intriguing to observe that the Royal Mail hesitates to send letters to Torquay, contending that it's not part of the United Kingdom. Fortunately, the same stance isn't adopted by the railways. If it were otherwise, travelling to Torquay would pose considerable challenges. Perhaps I'd require a visa and have to embark on a lengthy sea voyage.

I went to the post office to mail a letter to Torquay. The lady at the counter tried to convince me that Torquay is not in the United Kingdom. I stood my ground, though. After all, I had been there just a few days earlier, and I hadn't left the country. Fortunately, I had an unfolded and highly detailed physical world map (measuring 201cm in width and 116.5cm in height, with a 1:20 scale) with me, so I could show her exactly where Torquay is located.

A few days prior, I had been in Torquay to capture Carrie and Alex's wedding.

If you enter the phrase 'engagement photoshoot wales' into the Google search engine, my website should appear in the top position. This accomplishment required a significant amount of time and effort. All of this was done to ensure that you wouldn't need to spend a long time searching for the right photographer if you're planning an engagement.

I typically post photo galleries on my website that are dedicated to individual weddings, capturing the essence of each wedding day. This time, I have curated a gallery comprising photos from different weddings. I'm considering adding a few more photos to the collection, particularly since they don't need to follow a specific order.

Another micro wedding that I had the pleasure of photographing โ€“ it was truly an exceptionally intimate wedding. In addition to the newlyweds, their parents were also present.

The count of guests becomes insignificant; what truly matters are those distinctive moments that I am privileged to immortalize through my photographs.

My first wedding photograph was captured precisely at 3:14 pm on November 11, 2008 ๐Ÿ˜

Well, okay, the couple only looks like newlyweds, and I took the photo on the street during some holiday.

In a world where the definition of weddings is expanding and couples are embracing their distinct identities, there's a wealth of uncharted territory for wedding photography. I'm eager to seize the opportunity to create images that challenge the norm and celebrate the beautiful diversity of love. Just as my first photograph evokes the spirit of wedded bliss in an unexpected context, I'm enthusiastic about the prospect of immortalizing the essence of unique unions through my lens.

The wedding day was blessed with intermittent rain, as if the heavens themselves were shedding tears of joy. During the heartfelt ceremony, the rain fell gently, embracing the moment when Ella and Robin exchanged their vows with tender "I do's". It was as if the universe conspired to shower them with blessings, ensuring that the sun would shine bright and happiness would reign in their lives henceforth.

As the raindrops ceased, the skies cleared, revealing a glorious sun that bathed the celebration in warm light. Throughout the day, the air was filled with laughter, joy, and the sound of celebration, making it truly unforgettable.

Weather is not worth discussing. We also have no control over it. The weather simply exists. Sometimes it's sunny, sometimes it's rainy. And a proper photographer is not afraid of either storms or rain.
The rain on that day did not hinder Ella and Robin from saying "yes," and a brave photographer captured that significant moment.

I have a lot of photos on my hard drives from various sessions, events, and weddings. I don't usually delete them because sometimes one of my clients 'loses' their photos and then turns to me for help.
However, I periodically organize my drives. During today's clean-up, I came across this image.

Pre-wedding photoshoot (or engagement photoshoot) in a very famous location in London.
When I photograph people, they are what interests me the most. The location is just a complement, a background. In the case of this photo, I intentionally overexposed the background to add a touch of unexpectedness.

Totally candid pictures! Love it.

I love taking such photos. The couple wanted photos like these as well, and our expectations aligned perfectly. However, the most important thing is that they like these pictures.
I can't take my eyes off them either.

Iโ€™m a documentary wedding photographer. Throughout the wedding day, Iโ€™m everywhere (sometimes in multiple places at the same time) and I capture what is happening. However, there comes a moment when I slow down a bit. I take the couple aside and we have a posed-unposed mini photoshoot. Nevertheless, my aim is always to capture natural moments.

A road movie is a film genre in which the main characters leave home on a road trip, typically altering the perspective from their everyday lives. Here, like a "road movie", we have a "road wedding". Of course, without potential menace, lawlessness, and violence, as it often happens in movies.

That day, despite the bad forecasts, even the weather was good. The day was warm, sunny, full of love, joy and smiles. And the assumption was to document the events, starting from the ceremony, through the procession from the Register Office to the restaurant, and ending with the reception.

Iโ€™m glad that as a wedding photographer, I had the opportunity to be a part of Taz and Fred's big day.

What do Bristol Christmas Steps and the Himalayas have in common?

Let me explain. If you are a photographer, and you'll be photographing the wedding procession along the Christmas Steps, I recommend that you go trekking in advance, e.g. two weeks around the Annapurna massif. You'll work on your fitness, train your muscles and climb over 5,000 meters. After training like this, you should be up for the Bristol assignment. Although, it all depends on how fast the procession will move.

On Friday, the pace was dizzying. Taz and Fred almost ran up those steps. Their photographer must have been faster than them and was running around taking pictures.

However, we managed and planted the British flag on the top!

As a wedding photographer, it's essential to arrive at the wedding venue a little early to ensure that everything is set up and ready for the big event. That's why I always make it a point to arrive early so that I have enough time to scout the venue, take some pictures of the place, and capture its ambience before the guests arrive.

Once I'm satisfied with the shots I've taken of the venue, I take some time to set up my equipment and make sure that everything is working correctly. Then, as I wait for the guests to arrive, I keep my camera ready, capturing any candid moments that may occur as guests make their way to the wedding location.

Being early and taking photos of the venue also allows me to be better prepared for the rest of the day. I can plan out the best angles and lighting for the shots I want to take, and I can also get a sense of the layout of the venue, which helps me to navigate the space more easily during the wedding.

Remember that Your Wedding Photographer does not only photograph weddings, but also shoots engagements and captures moments of couples in love.

Engagement photo shoots are often done prior to the wedding day as a way for the couple to announce their engagement and create lasting memories of their love for each other. The wedding photographer can use this opportunity to get to know the couple better and capture their unique personalities and dynamics in the photos.

Moreover, even when the wedding day is over, the photographer can continue to work with the couple to create stunning images that celebrate their love story. These can include anniversary photo shoots, couple's sessions, or even candid moments of the couple in everyday life.

As a wedding photographer, I am privileged to be a part of some of the most important moments in people's lives. I get to witness love in its purest form and capture it for generations. Each wedding is unique and special, and I am always honoured to be chosen to document it.

There is something mystical about wedding photography. It's as if time stands still for a moment, and the only thing that matters is the love between two people. The world outside the wedding seems to fade away, and all that's left is the couple and their love for each other.

As a photographer, it's my job to capture those moments of mystery and magic. To freeze time and create images that will be cherished for years to come. It's not just about taking pretty pictures, but about telling a story through images.
And what a story it is. It's a story of two people who found each other in a world that can be cold and cruel. It's a story of love that transcends all barriers and brings people together. It's a story of hope and joy and everything that is good in this world.

As I look back on all the weddings I've photographed, I am struck by the power of love. It's a force that can move mountains, can conquer all obstacles. It's a force that brings people together and creates a bond that can never be broken.

And it's my privilege as a photographer to capture that love in all its glory. To create images that will be treasured for a lifetime and beyond. Images that will be passed down from generation to generation, are a testament to the power of love.
But it's not just about the images. It's about the experience. As a photographer, I am honoured to be a part of the wedding day, to witness the love between two people and to be a part of their journey. It's a privilege that I never take for granted.

There's something mystical about wedding photography, something that can't quite be put into words. It's a feeling that washes over you, a sense that you are a part of something bigger than yourself. It's a feeling that you can't quite explain, but that you know is real.
Maybe it's the sense of connection, the feeling that you are part of a community that spans the globe. Maybe it's the sense of purpose, the knowledge that you are using your skills to capture something that is truly important. Maybe it's the sense of wonder, the realization that you are witnessing something that is truly magical.
Whatever it is, it's a feeling that I cherish.

These moments showcase how important it is for the bride and her loved ones to experience her wedding vows. These moments are when time stands still and emotions take centre stage. Such moments are unforgettable.

These emotional moments are an integral part of a wedding photographer's work. Capturing these moments and immortalizing them in photos is not only a significant task but also a great joy, as it allows the couple to relive the beauty and emotions of their special day through photographs that will last forever.
