Did you know that Lithuanians attacked Moscow three times and burned it?
NKSU member organizations Jaunųjų konservatorių lyga and Vienotiba youth organization collaborated on a project popularising historic events of Lithuanian marches on Moscow. To commemorate these historic events, they published an educational video.
21st of November, 655 years ago, Algird marched with his troops to Moscow after Moscow attempted to annex a smaller state. During the first march, Algirdas expected a sudden siege of the city and aggravation of circumstances to deter the Russians from further aggression (similar to 2014. European sanctions on Russia), but next year the Muscovites attacked once again. Second time Algirdas came back, the siege ended with Moscow Duke Dmitrijus on the knees in front of Algirdas. Thirdly, after breaking the peace treaty of 1370 years, Algird sent a letter to Dmitri before marching for the last time: "A hero is the one who fights being forced against his will, not the one who starts a war. “
In total, Algirdas organized three such war marches, after which the Lithuanian border shook in the periphery of Maksva, and Moscow itself no longer posed a threat to Lithuania and its allies.
These historical events are still relevant today. Russia is and has always been an aggressor, but as Moscow once made a mistake by attacking a smaller state, it repeats the same mistake today in Ukraine.
In order for justice to be fulfilled and security to return to our region - we have to support Ukraine.

As of January 2023, Sweden is taking over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. 🇪🇺🇸🇪
The Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson has announced that during the upcoming six months, Sweden will prioritize security (to enhance unity) resilience (reached by competitiveness), prosperity (via green and energy transition), democratic values, and the rule of law. Quoting the Prime Minister “Sweden is taking over the Presidency at a time when the European Union is facing unprecedented challenges. A greener, more secure and freer Europe is the foundation of our priorities.”
We wish best of luck to Sweden and may, indeed, the presidency bring a greener, safer and more prosperous future to the EU! 🇪🇺🇸🇪🌿
On the 17th of October, Sweden’s Parliament approved the center-right Monderate Party leader Ulf Krisstenson as prime minister. On the 18th of October, after more than a month of talks, the incoming prime minister appointed his new cabinet. 13 of the 24 ministerial positions will be taken by the Moderate Party members.
NKSU member organization, Fria Moderata Studentförbundet (the Confederation of Swedish Conservative and Liberal Students) is closely associated with the Moderate Party.
The new government will have to face multiple challenges in the upcoming months, such as facing the rising energy prices and talks with Turkey over Sweden’s NATO membership. The new prime minister has promised to provide the greatest possible support for Ukraine, after Russia’s brutal invasion.
We wish the best of luck to the new government and are excited to see the what this new season will bring as the new government takes leadership.
Congratulations to Jaunā Vienotība for winning the Parliamentary election! 🇱🇻
This is great news for the Latvia and the European community, as the current PM Krišjānis Kariņš is most likely going to continue leadership of the new coalition government.
The chairman of VIENOTĪBA Jaunatnes organizācija (Unity youth organization) Dāvis M. Daugavietis has been elected as a member of the Parliament and will be working hard for the next 4 years for a stronger, safer and more prosperous Latvia. Dāvis has been great example and a trusted leader among the members of Unity youth organization.
We wish you lots of energy and strength for the next four years! 🇱🇻
We want to wish good luck to VIENOTĪBA Jaunatnes organizācija in the Parliamentary elections today!
VJO is one of our member organizations whose goal is to form a new and competent generation that will represent the interests of Latvia and its society.
And they have managed to do that - 16 members from VJO will be running for the Parliament from New Unity ( Jaunā Vienotība ) party. New Unity is a centre-right party that stands for European values, democracy, rule of law, and a strong and united future.
Best of luck! 🇱🇻
NKSU was represented at the EDS Skills Training event held in San Marino over the weekend 🇸🇲
The weekend included interesting conversations and new friends 🙌
Grazie mille!
The NKSU strongly condemns the unjust, unprovoked and illegal invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation. We support all severe economic sanctions being proposed by the United States, European Union and others. And further urge all European states to assist by sending military equipment to Ukraine. Moscow needs to realise that it’s aggression towards a peaceful European country such as Ukraine will not be tolerated under any circumstance and any other penalties that could possibly be applied, should be applied as soon as possible. The days where the most basic elementary principle of respecting territorial integrity of any country being put aside are long gone and do not belong in the modern day. But we also believe if any dialogue for peace can be sought that it would be at preferable option to prevent any loss of human life.
The future is full of doubts and uncertainty. We must by all means necessary be willing to defend Ukraine and our democratic values.
We unequivocally and heartfully stand with our fellow Europeans in the Ukraine.
