Always fun to remind people of beautiful Dimmalimm! 🥰

This is Gudmundur Thorsteinsson, known to his friends as Muggur. He created the story of Dimmalimm. Today marks 100 years from his death of tuberculosis, at the age of 32. In his short life he achieved a lot. Above all, he was an artist. Painted with watercolours, oil, chalk, pencils. He did cut out pictures, did needlepoint. He wrote stories. He was an actor and was even a film actor! Thanks to Professor Elof Risebye, much of his art survived, as Elof donated a collection of Muggur's work to the National Gallery of Iceland, in 1958.

Today marks the birthday of Muggur, the creator of Dimmalimm. He was born in 1891 and I guess this picture is taken around 1921-24. He died in 1924, far too young, from tuberculosis. He had a cheeky smile! 😊
