But Croatia will not be without contribution. Their place will be taken by the Bluzy Th*****me.

Soon, hundreds of blues artists from 24 European countries will be running in these secret catacombs deep below the Baltic Arena. We are excited!

10th European Blues Challenge

For three days in June, artists from all over Europe will spread blue tones at the Clarion Malmö Live as the 10th edition of the European Blues Challenge takes place.

The European Blues Challenge is also an annual event. For 10 years it has been held in different European cities and now for the first time it is arranged in Sweden. The last two years have been canceled due to the pandemic situation and therefore this edition feels so important.

Basically, it is a blues competition where more than 20 countries each send their contribution. However, there will be more than that and the arranger promises a festival atmosphere and a wonderful get-together. The event will offer mingling, entertainment, art exhibition, blues jam and food carts. All under one roof!

Behind the competition is the European Blues Union, an umbrella organization for all actors in the blues industry. The local organiser is Malmoe-Copenhagen Blues Connexion. They are localy best known for their Blues Tent during the annual Malmö Festival.
The event in Malmö is carried out in collaboration with Musik i Syd, Event in Skåne and Visit Skåne.

ABOUT THE ARRANGERS
Malmoe-Copenhagen Blues Connexion (MCBC) is a non-profit association with the aim of supporting the live blues and roots music in the Öresund region. The association has existed for 20 years and has conducted festivals, club activities, jam sessions and teaching.

Under tre dagar kommer artister från hela Europa att sprida blå toner från Clarion Malmö Live när den 10:e upplagan av European Blues Challenge intar arenan.
Arrangör är Malmoe-Copenhagen Blues Connexion, en förening som varit verksam i Malmö sedan drygt 20 år. Mest kända är de för sitt Bluestält under Malmöfestivalen.

European Blues Challenge är ett årligt återkommande event. Under 10 år har det vandrat mellan olika europeiska städer men detta är första gången det arrangeras i Sverige. De senaste två åren har blivit inställda och därför känns denna upplaga extra angelägen.

2019 arrangerade föreningen Swedish Blues Challenge på Malmö Live och den europeiska upplagan blir nu en naturlig uppföljning. Nu får besökarna chansen att träffa artister från hela Europa och höra bluesmusik av alla olika slag.

I grunden är det alltså en bluestävling där drygt 20 länder sänder var sitt bidrag. Det kommer dock att bli mer än så och arrangören utlovar en festivalstämning och en härlig get-together.
Eventet kommer att bjuda på mingel, underhållning, konstutställning, bluesjam och matvagnar. Allt under ett tak. ’Bluestältet med extra allt’ kommer helt enkelt att flytta in på Baltiskan.

Det svenska bidraget är malmöbandet Ore Island Penitentiary Band, med sångaren Lupus Nensén i spetsen som vann uttagningen 2019.

Bakom tävlingen står European Blues Union, en paraplyorganisation för alla aktörer inom bluesbranschen. Eventet i Malmö genomförs i samarbete med Musik i Syd, Event in Skåne och Visit Skåne.
