Monday Motivation!

Every Monday we will bring an artist highlight of his/her career. Could be a sale, commission, breakthrough they had?

Today we are highlighting She took on this amazing commission to do 5 portaits. This is what she had to say-

“In this case, there was a static group shot and several single shots that I actually found much more interesting. I decided to combine these and create a painting here that would have much more movement and feel more natural. I knew that! Every photo had a different exposure, so it was a huge job! I first worked on the youngest girls whose lighting in the photo I found most interesting and then adjusted the portraits of the other children accordingly. During the whole process I kept in mind who (an elderly lady) would hang it and in what kind of interior.”

Way to go Marin for such a beautiful piece! It will be a cherished heirloom I’m sure of it.

Have you noticed it’s already fall?
We asked our artists to create an art piece to describe what fall is for them. While these amazing people are working, some of them shared their thoughts with us:z
Coming from a culture of no Halloween, the fall for me is the first days back to school. I remember when I was small, one of the most exciting moments was preparing for the first day at school. All the new books we got, all the supplies, who will i be paired with in the class? Is there any new class mate? The smell of printed books and the excitement of new beginnings, those are my most precious memories of the fall.
I especially remember going with my mom to buy me a new pair of shoes, they were too small, but oh my I loved them so much, I didn’t dare to say it 😄 it ended up with me running to my first day to school with sore feet, but with stunning ruby red sandals on. Needless to say, I was the coolest seven year old in the school 🍂🍁
But to be honest, I guess it’s those memories you have from childhood, the family, holding your moms hand and coming to a home smelling of a fresh apple pie 💕🍁

Artistic voice is an amazing thing, one can be a master of realistic landscapes, but what difference would it make from a great photo? The small details that are specific for only one artist, make the work so recognisable. is the answer to the previous post. The little winged creatures is her signature 🦜🦜 and we love that!

All works open with a starting bid of the artist's choice. Artists add their own shipping costs. Subsequent bids must be at least $5/€5 higher than the previous bid.

After the auction has closed on a piece the artist will contact the winner to let them know they have won and discuss payment and shipping options.
