We love when our friends visit us. Here, Martin is serving mead to our guests from the backstage rock bar in Trollhättan.
Book a table if you’re craving dinner at our Viking hall! But if it’s just a glass of mead and some good company you’re after, no reservations needed, swing by and join us at the bar.
Hear ye, brave viking lovers! The revels of yesterday have been swept aside, and the tables are set anew. Soon, our doors shall open, and we stand ready to welcome you to an evening of feasting and merriment!

A taste from Viking times!
The most typical fish on a Birka Viking’s dinner table was the wonderful Pike-Perch. This large, delicious fish has been prepared in many forms throughout the years. Accompanying our Pike-Perch is the fragrance of capers and fennel from Miklagard’s swirling and never-ending spice market. This dish takes its name from King Björn, who ruled over Birka during the first half of the 7th century with an iron hand from his residence on Adelsö.
Even the mightiest Vikings need a shoulder to lean on sometimes!
Welcome into the warmth of Aifur. We open at 4pm today.

Aifur’s home-smoked salmon, spinach tossed in butter, herb bulgur, and a sauce from Byzantium.
West of Birka, straight across the bay, lies Stallarholmen. Every year on the 6th, 7th, and 8th of July, you will find a large Viking festival here. The popular festival offers music, food, entertainment of all kinds, and a fantastic Viking market. The Viking ship Aifur, with its crew, is a frequent guest on these days. A must for anyone interested in Vikings.
Step into the Viking age, where shields tell stories and helmets are ready for battle. Who’s ready to embrace their inner viking?
Flap steak, lamb racks, and dwarf chicken served with honey-tossed vegetables and three sauces.
According to the Russian Nestor Chronicle, the Norseman Rurik founded the Kievan Rus’ kingdom and thus became the patriarch of the dynasty that ruled until 1598. He and his brothers landed near Ladoga sometime during the first half of the 9th century and soon received a mandate from the Slavic people to rule their territory, where the first Russian kingdom emerged. Prior to that, the Slavic people were terrorized by the Norsemen, which likely explains why they chose a tough Norse leader like Rurik to govern. Content, the brothers often sat in Kiev’s ruling quarter, reminiscing over the aroma of moose and lamb frying in the pan.

Elderberry mousse with rhubarb and strawberry compote and chocolate flarn
Before Christian times, it was thought that elderberries brought luck and that good spirits would stay around the homestead if there was an elderflower tree. Hyllemor is an ancient wise female spirit who scares small children to prevent them from breaking branches or creating a mess under the elderflower tree. This was considered a grave sin and was believed to lead to accidents and sickness.
There is no evidence that the Vikings wore horned helmets, and nothing like this has ever been discovered in any archaeological dig. They certainly wore helmets but they would have been simple skullcaps, designed to protect the head from impact.
This is a rare sight for our guests—a quiet, empty venue just minutes before opening! The weekend is fully booked, but we’ve got a few drop-in spots available, and our bar is always open, Welcome!

In the Icelandic book, the oldest Icelandic historian, Ari Frode, describes how father and son, Erik the Red and Leif Eriksson, discover different lands in the West – Vinland, on separate trips and adventures. On this new fertile continent, fruits and berries grow that no one has ever seen before. In addition to the grapes that contributed to the name of the new land, the larger grapefruit is packed well on board. The grapefruit got its name because, like grapes, it also grows in large clusters. Both sour and tasty, it turns out that they also cure even the hardest snout with their nutritious flesh. With the ships on the flat cliffs of Greenland, Helluland, the cow’s milk boiled a bit too long in its kettle, creating a fresh new taste in the bottom of the pot – caramel!
Enjoy the Vinland pie with its long-range grapefruit sorbet and delicious caramel. It is the host.

Who said Vikings only drank mead? We’ve got wine too, and it’s just as fierce! This legendary wine is from Romania, and off course the name of the wine is Legend of Dracula…Come for the mead, stay for the wine!

Aifur classic also served like a main course. Lans aux Meadows is a location on the northernmost tip of Newfoundland, where the remains of a Scandinavian settlement from the 1000′s was discovered in 1960 by Norwegian explorer Helge Ingstad and his wife, archaeologist Anne Stine Ingstad. The Blue Mussel in the Baltic Sea belongs to a particular species, Mytilus Trossulus, also located in Canada.
Aifur´s clams today taste as they did in the Viking village of Lans aux Meadows.
