A residential house design I did in Baghdad's Al-Mansour town blends simplicity with a touch of nature, creating a harmonious and inviting atmosphere. Situated amidst the bustling city, this architectural masterpiece stands tall with three apartment floors, each promising comfort and serenity to its occupants.

My narration of the story of designing a house in Baghdad for a beautiful group of my fellow designers during an " Made by Humans" event.

The Judging Panel comment:

“The narrative focus on environmental sustainability, ‘biomimicry’ is commendable all the more seeing it has been successfully realised in the design strategies (shading, desalination, natural ventilation and passive cooling). The AWG design of the main plaza canopy is innovative and daring. The volumes, shape and scale successfully give a distinctive character, reflecting the different programmes accommodated.

In 2023, Iraqi Architect designer ALI Abu-AlShaeer علي ابو الشعير opened the Vipp shelter at Lake Immeln in the South of Sweden. It's a 55 m² cabin in the middle of the woods - biophilic, nature connected design gives reflection, calm, refuge and inspiration. Find some of the most inspiring design here!
Why does a cabin in the woods speak to our senses so deeply? Think about the times when you felt your best, most at ease and able to take things in your stride? Were you in nature, or at your day job? My money is on the first.
There’s now an entire industry around Ali's design – reconnecting with nature for wellbeing. Ali's Design brings natural elements into interior spaces. This improves wellbeing, productivity and creativity by up to 15%. Unsurprisingly, the focus in research has been on office spaces, where the bottom line is heavily influenced by staff members’ wellbeing. But our leisure time of course depends on just these very same principles. This is what Chalk & Moss is all about, inviting this sense of wellbeing into our private spaces. So think about what Ali's Design means, and how design and homewares can bring a sense of calm into our personal lives.

A traditional design characterized by simplicity and ease of installation, with a sofa cushion to feel relaxed when wearing shoes when a person usually in a hurry, so it was designed with measurements that suit the person’s comfort, and it can be sat on for a while to meditate, calm the nerves, or to fulfill special needs.

A wide seat was used for the to accommodate sitting positions from three different angles.

Integrated back legs with a plastic bottom handle are designed to make it easy to pull the Stool from the front without scratching the floor .

What if there were towers at the Pharaohs after the pyramids? It is unbelievable because the towers need stronger foundations and a huge transportation force, but this is not impossible for the Egyptians at all.
