Seb and Fai, two typical Singaporean friends who have grown up together since childhood, followed different paths and held distinct beliefs in life. One became a Western chef, while the other pursued a career as a club DJ. However, during a chance encounter, they discovered a common love for exceptional cuisine. Seb was on a perpetual quest for new flavors, while Fai was eager to find a collaborator who could help bring his flavor dreams to life. Together, they embraced a culinary philosophy of infusing the richness and robustness of Malay spices into Western delights.

Their journey was no small feat, involving extensive research and development. They even ventured into the most authentic Malay food stalls to gain insight into the creation of Malay flavors. Training under strict "makciks" was a pivotal experience, as these mentors tolerated no room for error. These rigorous sessions deepened their appreciation for the heritage of Malay spices and brought them closer to their culinary goal.
