: 5 students developed a platform called Can Mah to help vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, with their groceries. The initiative connects these groups with kind neighbours who are willing to do a grocery run on their behalf. Can Mah currently exists as a feature on GoodHood.SG, with both platforms committed to keeping the kampung spirit alive. The creators hope the effects of their initiative will last well beyond the pandemic. 🛒📱🍊

When five 18-year-old recent graduates heard about the difficulties for the vulnerable in getting their groceries, they came together and launched Can Mah!, a ground-up initiative to help those in need shop for their groceries and essentials. In spite of their own challenges in developing an app, their care inspired existing group GoodHood.sg to lift the team and get their program running.

Need something for dinner? Make a quick stop at a supermarket. Grocery runs are routine for most of us but for some groups like the elderly, who are more susceptible to COVID-19, even the regular grocery run could put their health at risk. A group of 5 youth wanted to help groups like the elderly, persons with disabilities, and frontliners access groceries and essential items more easily. They came up with @canmahofficial , a platform which connects those in need with volunteers in their neighbourhood willing to help. Working with @goodhood.sg and with the oscar@sg fund's support, they recently launched Can Mah!, which is integrated in the GoodHood.SG app. They hope that the platform can be a lasting initiative to enable Singaporeans to help their communities. ​See a need in your community you want to do something about? We're very excited to finally put this service out there and for everyone to show their kampung spirit!
