Did you know? After 88 years, we are one of the last places in Singapore who still produce Nian Gao using the old-school traditional method which takes 4 days from start to finish.
It consists of soaking and grinding the glutinous rice with a stone mill, pouring it into moulds that are lined with banana leaves and steamed for 12 hours to achieve the distinct colour and fragrance without the use of any chemicals or preservatives.
It’s an extremely labour intensive process, but we do it to keep the traditional taste alive for our future generations
