Today is the day for me to put on the sacred Mongkol on my humble fighters of who had hardearned their opportunities to represent the gym and make their debut in amateur fight today.

Addressing what is Mongkol to whom might be curious, Mongkol is a muay thai traditional and sacred headdress which had been blessed and to be worn on the head of the choosen fighters as part of their pre-fight attire and when they perform the Wai Kru Ram Muay ceremony that precedes their fights.

Its a huge PRIDE to any muay thai fighters who had trained hardest over time to earn a spot to fight, to be able to wear his / her gym's Mongkol to represent their Trainer and Gym.

May the FORCE be with all the warriors today...
May the best warriors competing in NAK MUAY CHALLENGE Season 6 today wins...

So that the beautiful art of MUAY THAI is never gonna fade away over time.

Every year on 16th JANUARY, it is National Teachers’ Day in Thai holiday calendar that is celebrated grandly. On this day, students go out of their way to show their teachers ความเคารพ (khwaam khao-róp) or “RESPECT”.

This holiday is rooted in the belief that teachers are the most valuable contributors to society, and as such, deserve to be recognized and appreciated for their devotion. This extends not only to school teachers, but to teachers in any field of life.

Thai people often associate the profession of teaching with that of the taxi-boat profession. The taxi-boat service was once a crucial element of Thai society because Thai people traveled largely by river in the past. Just as a taxi-boat driver takes passengers to their destination and goes back for more passengers, so do teachers bring students to their destinations and continue to do so for students over the years. Teachers are seen as a path to the future.

Teachers’ Day celebrations in Thailand involve a lot of symbolism. There are four symbols that are particularly important:

Ixora flowers have sharp petals, which represent a sharp mind.

Eggplant flowers grow downward, which represents the humility of students toward their teachers and their willingness to เรียน (riian), or “study.”

Cynodon grass grows easily, which represents the growth of students’ knowledge.

Tok rice is a white rice that has been roasted and popped, representing the ability of students to flourish and shine brightly with enough discipline.

In MUAY THAI, Wai Kru is specially performed by students for their Teacher / Trainer (Kruu / Ajarn) as a token of appreciation and respect.
