Today, all our active ageing centres and nursing homes celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with mooncakes, sponsored by our generous donors.

We also recently hosted a Snow Skin Mooncake Workshop for more than 40 of our residents at KWSH @ PTP.

From kneading the dough to crafting the perfect mooncake, our residents had so much fun getting hands-on with this activity as they worked alongside the volunteers.

From all of us here at KWSH, we wish you a Happy Mid-Autumn Festival filled with joy and happiness.

Last weekend, we came together to celebrate at our Serangoon Road main site, where our Hospital was beautifully decorated with handmade lanterns crafted by our nursing home residents, community clients, teachers from Sage Artelier, and students from Wellington Primary School Singapore.

We were honored to have Ms Indranee Rajah (Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Finance & National Development) join us, and she delighted the crowd by performing "月亮代表我的心" (The Moon Represents My Heart) alongside our CEO, Dr Mok Ying Jang, two nursing home residents and two eldercare centre members.

🎏 Catch our beautiful Fish Lanterns on display at the garden area tomorrow at Potong Pasir, crafted by Chapel of the Holy Spirit (CHS) and our residents.

We’re excited to introduce this new initiative aimed at reducing food waste, save resources, and enhancing the well-being of our seniors.

Our Active Ageing members have already begun using the fridge after their training session on Monday. It’s simple and convenient – just scan the QR code on the fridge, enter your contact number, and unlock it right from your phone! 📱

Currently in its pilot phase, the fridge is exclusively available to our Active Ageing members but will soon expand to serve our Senior Care clients and residents living in the area.

Accessible 24/7, seniors can enjoy snacks like biscuits and packet drinks whenever they like.

The fridge is provided by iJooz, and generous donations are supplied by Food Bank Singapore, with monthly restocking by our staff.

Did you know? Our first Mid-Autumn Festival at KWSH was celebrated in 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟓, and we have been celebrating this special tradition ever since.

Our friends from ByteDance Singapore visited us over three days earlier this month bringing laughter and joy to our residents!

They kicked off the fun with a lively KaraFun karaoke game, filling the room with music and laughter. 🎤

The team also led an engaging and interactive Bingo session for our residents.

They wrapped up their visit with a Morning Exercise session, followed by a spirited badminton match and a thrilling "toss the ring" prize game. 🏸

A big thank you to ByteDance for spreading bringing so much energy and spreading joy to our residents💖 .

Join us for a fun-filled fusion of fitness and K-pop! 🎶💪 Last Thursday, our staff had an exhilarating time at the K-pop x Fitness event at KWSH @ Serangoon Rd, where we danced our hearts out while toning our bodies with high-energy aerobic moves. This event was all about getting up, moving, and sweating it out together! Whether you're a K-pop fan or just looking to spice up your workout routine, K-Pop X Fitness is the perfect way to have fun while staying active.

This year, the SkillsFuture Festival takes place from July 9 to August 21, 2024, across various locations islandwide. KWSH, recognized as a leading training provider and industry expert, was invited to showcase its upskilling courses and share valuable insights on mid-career transitions, helping participants remain competitive in the evolving job market. At the Career & Skills Level-Up SkillsFuture Festival @ North East event, held at Sengkang Grand Mall on August 3, our CTI team played a pivotal role in championing the cause in job upskilling, promoting the WSQ Higher Certificate in Healthcare (Community Care). This training programme provides a clear progression pathway for existing care professionals seeking to enhance their skills, while also guiding prospective learners interested in pursuing careers in the Community Care sector. As part of the event, two senior therapy educators conducted a public demonstration on the proper use of mobility aids and transfer techniques, offering valuable, practical knowledge to the many appreciative attendees present at the event.

Additionally, at the SkillsFuture Human Capital Conference held on August 21 at Suntec City, KWSH actively promoted various training programmes. We also showcased our innovPlus Winner project: the Generative AI Training & Assessment solution. This innovative tool is designed to empower learners by giving them greater autonomy over their educational journey.

Our seniors had an incredible time celebrating Singapore’s 59th birthday with the students from St Andrew’s Junior College and our care staff!

The students organised a range of fun-filled activities like Bingo, Arts & Crafts, and heartfelt National Day sing-alongs.

But that’s not all—our seniors also had fun with Tote Bag Painting, Sandwich Making, Tikam Tikam, and classic games that brought back fond memories, all planned by our care staff.

We wrapped up the celebration on a high note with a coloring competition, where our talented seniors showcased their artistic skills!

【🎵 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 ✨🎁】

Our annual Charity Concert on 26 July at Victoria Concert Hall was a success! Gracing the event was Minister for Education, Mr Chan Chun Sing who performed the opening song alongside our senior management and talented artistes.

We were also delighted to welcome our esteemed partners, including corporate donors, local constituencies, schools, and other charitable organizations to join us for the evening.

Highlights of the concert included a heartfelt performance of 《沧海一声笑》 by our Senior Care Centre client Mr Lim Meng Chau, our CEO Dr Mok Ying Jang, and Ding Yi Music Company. The audience was also treated to performances by the renowned Cantopop group Music In Law, with special guest appearances from Ms Mimi Choo and acclaimed opera performer Ms Qi Chao Qun.

The night concluded with a sing-along to classic oldies. It was truly a night to remember.

We recently concluded our annual town hall meeting, during which we came together to reflect on our achievements and celebrate the milestones we have achieved as an organisation in the past year.

Our Chief Executive Officer, Dr Mok Ying Jang, also shared the exciting 10-year strategic plan that KWSH has in place as we extend our reach within the community further as Singapore transitions into a super-aged society. During the Q&A segment, the management team also addressed questions raised by our staff.

Here’s to another year of continuing our journey of caring for the sick and needy in Singapore.

Introducing ‘Glorious Time’ at KWSH @ PTP where pampering meets empowerment! 🌟 Our new monthly programme offers rejuvenating treatments designed to refresh skin and uplift spirits, empowering our female residents to shine inside and out. 💆‍♀️💅

Last weekend, we joined in to celebrate a significant milestone with one our residents, Mdm Ding, who turned 100 years old! She celebrated this special day surrounded by her family at our Hospital.

Last Friday, July 12th, our Nurse Manager, Jumahad Bin Asmat, was honoured with the Nurses’ Merit Award for his outstanding achievements and dedicated service. With a tenure of 5 years at KWSH, he has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to fostering passion among his nursing colleagues

In 2019, he willingly represented the Fall Prevention (Clinical Quality Improvement) Collaborative with AIC, embarking on a three-year journey that concluded in 2022. Jumahad successfully piloted the initiative in two wards at KWSH post-project and implemented it across additional wards. This initiative remains operational in the monitored wards, with regular reporting and oversight at bi-monthly Nursing Quality Assurance meetings (NQA).

Let’s once again congratulate NM Jumahad! 👏

Last month, we had the pleasure of hosting a group from Taiwan, led by Ms Mechelle Hsia, Founding President of Enjoy Life Health Care and Management International Association and Enjoy Life Education Development Association in Taiwan.

The group comprised social work students, nursing care attendants, and teachers. Their visit began with a tour of our Traditional Chinese Medicine Centre, Heritage Gallery, Senior Care Centre, and a ward, where they gained valuable insights into our holistic approach to healthcare.

They also spent quality time with our day care seniors, filling our Senior Care Centre with energy through heartfelt songs and engaging exercise sessions. The visit concluded with Tang Yuan making, singing, and playing games with our seniors at KWSC @ McNair.

A big thank you to Ms Mechelle Hsia and her team for visiting KWSH and bringing joy to our seniors!

Spreading the spirit of unity and gratitude! Kwong Wai Shiu Care @ St George’s was identified as one of the AACs to participate in the NDP fun pack packing as part of the SGO10 celebrations. 36 volunteers came down to help with the packing which allowed seniors to mingle with one another. NDP Chairman, Wilson Low and SGO Chief Sng Hock Lin came down to visit and support the seniors. 😁

Our SCC seniors were transported back to the Sixties at our recent Rock and Roll Party. Our ladies donned polka-dot hair bands while our gentleman sported head bands as they grooved to the tunes. 🎸🌟

One of our new clients, Mr Lau, was seen dancing to the music despite his limited mobility. When his son saw the video, he commented, "I've never seen my dad that active before, even dancing with a smile."
