Spacerock performance chalk was created by a local climber looking for better friction in hot, humid Singapore. Made from seawater-sourced magnesium carbonate, the chalk comes in a fine powder to allow an even and long-lasting coating on hands. Each packet is hand-mixed and packed to order for ultimate freshness. There's no such thing as bad conditions, only bad chalk. For friction that’s out of this world, try Spacerock at BM today!

🚀 Where: Boulder Movement Bugis

Bring your climbing shoes and an adventurous spirit! Simply book the slot as usual on our app or website, no extra charges.

Ready to climb amongst the stars? See you on the Moonboard!

To ensure the safety of climbers, some sections of the Areté wall near the MoonBoard will be closed off for the event. Slots for Bugis will be reduced as well. Just a heads up: we'll be taking photos and videos at this event. By being here, you’re cool with possibly being in them and having them shared for promotional purposes.

The cat’s been out of the bag for a while, and yes, you can purchase Allez Cat & Friends’ merchandise at our Downtown outlet!

The kilterboard board was stripped earlier today for cleaning, instead of setting it back up tomorrow, our setters have decided to use this opportunity to try something different: a single boulder for you to try at different angles!
Just like our wildcard wall at Bugis you may suggest a grade for each angle (instead of hold colors). See how the angle affects beta and movement.

For the Kilterboard fans, don't worry, this will only last for a week before we reset the Kilter holds next Wednesday(14th).

Did you know? BM started out as a single climbing gym at OUE Downtown in August 2017. This year, we’re commemorating our 7th anniversary with a ‘grab box’ activity at our Downtown gym!

Simply purchase an individually numbered grab box over the counter at $30/box and claim all its contents on the spot! There are numerous prizes in each box, and boxes are valued between $50 up to $270. For every grab box, you would win several items that may include chalk, a chalk bag, 1-for-1 entry passes, an Allez Cat & Friends t-shirt, a backpack, plus gifts from Lululemon and other BM partner brands!

Grab boxes are available from 1 August to 31 August exclusively at BM Downtown.
Each grab box is priced at $30, and does not include the box itself, only the contents inside. Purchases are not returnable, exchangeable, nor refundable.

Anyone who is fairly devoted to the sport of climbing would be all too familiar with the essential conditions that help us achieve our goals: Grit and determination, a suitable training plan, frequent practice, and the right gear for the task.

Nothing is left to chance if we want to send our projects. For this reason, Lululemon is partnering Boulder Movement to set our climbers up for success. This month, we want to invite members on our Boulder Movement Citizenship (BMC) programme to join us at a special event, where we will first be individually fitted out by the friendly team at Lululemon at Marina Bay Sands, then spend the rest of the morning climbing together at BM Downtown.

In addition to engaging one-on-one with the Lululemon team at MBS, this partner programme offers us an opportunity to discern the importance of quality training apparel, as well as climb and mingle over light refreshments courtesy of our friends at Lululemon. When the event is over, we want you to keep your new and personally fitted Lululemon apparel — yes, train and climb in them, and experience the peerless sensation of moving with agility, ease, and comfort.

This event will take place on Sunday 17 December 9am to 12pm. Here’s how you can qualify:
Ensure that you have an active BMC membership. If you aren’t a member yet, there is no better time to get onboard!
You are new to Lululemon, and have never purchased any of its apparel or product.

To register for this event, send an email to [email protected] with your following info:
Full name
Phone number
Email address (the same email address tagged to your BMC account)
In the email subject header, state ‘Lululemon X BM Climb’ and specify that you’re registering for the event

Spots are very limited, and registrants will be selected at random. Registration ends 5 December 12am. Successful registrants will hear from us by 10 December. This event is entirely free of charge, and is open only to BMCs.

Good luck and we look forward to hearing from you!

Meet the Setters, Part 4!

Jason started bouldering in 2013 as part of his school Co-curricular activity (CCA). Since then, he has found joy in climbing and competed in local bouldering competitions throughout his climbing journey. What Jason loves about climbing is that it is a rewarding sport that gives him the sense of satisfaction of completing a route. He is also thankful to the climbers he has met throughout his climbing journey which made him appreciate climbing even more.

While Jason was exploring his career options, he stumbled onto route-setting three years ago through his acquaintance, leading him to his route-setting journey. As a route-setter, Jason believes that a route is good when climbers give praise about it. He hopes that he can give climbers the same sense of satisfaction that he felt through his route-setting.

Fun fact about Jason, he loves to create pinchy routes that require climbers to pinch really hard!

During his free time, Jason practices yoga as a form of exercise to stay active while boosting his mental and physical health. As a person with a really stiff body, yoga has helped him to relieve his tight muscles. Yoga has also helped him improve his strength, balance and flexibility which is also beneficial for climbing!

3rd part of our "Meet the Setters" series!

Ming see rock. Ming touch rock. Ming climb rock. Ming put rock on wall. Ming like fly.

Ming's climbing journey began in the early 2018s when he moved back to Singapore. He started as an average person who saw bouldering as a sport that required both physical and mental strength, which piqued his interest. This led him to pursue a degree in Sports Kinesiology. In this field, he specialized in Sports Injury and Recovery and obtained his certification in Strength and Conditioning to further advance his coaching career. His vision is to bring a more scientific and evidence-based approach to climbing, focusing on biomechanics and physiology to help clients become stronger. Instead of relying on guesswork for technique and form, he aims to improve athletic performance based on science.

Currently, his sets emphasize ergonomic movements, unique maneuvers and a touch(whole lot) of aesthetics to motivate climbers to learn and master these moves. And to make you fly. He draws inspiration from his studies in movement and applies them to his sets, promoting climbs with better flow and feel-good moments- And to make you fly. It's a mental and physical puzzle, clearing a delicate sequence of holds through a combination of graceful movements, technique, and power.

Apart from climbing, Ming likes to eat, sleep and fly- on his motorbike, zooming his way down the next highway.

11/10/2023

Part 2 of our Meet The Setters series, meet Kenneth:

Kenneth started climbing in 2016 when he first moved to Brisbane. He was looking for an activity that would challenge him both physically and mentally, and the rest was history. His passion for climbing grew, which eventually led to his route-setting journey. What he loves most about the sport is how cooperative the community is, even at a competitive level, given how rare it is to see competing athletes working together to solve a problem.

His goal in setting is to create memorable boulders that people enjoy. He wants people to be challenged in multiple ways at Boulder Movement and for them to always have something interesting to work on. Kenneth enjoys creating problems that are harder to read to encourage climbers to discover interesting beta that can spark conversations within the community. He wishes to invoke the same kind of passion for climbing in others through his route-setting.

Outside of climbing, photography helps to develop Kenneth’s creative eye and improve his ability to see visual patterns in the world.

He’s always happy to have a chat with people about climbing and provide advice on how to progress their climbing journey, so don’t be shy to hit him up.

Meet the Setters!
To start off this 4-part weekly series, meet Mike:

Mike found his passion for climbing through a friend’s birthday party at age 10 in France and has been doing it ever since. His professional life started as a 3D artist for games (such as PlayerUnknown’s Battleground) but then due to life events and illness he had to switch everything around and found a new perspective in life. Through those changes, the only constant was route-setting in Chicago where he worked for Brooklyn Boulders and Movement.

Now, 8 years later he made the big move to Singapore where he is the Head Routesetter at Boulder Movement. Mike hopes to share his views and philosophy on route-setting and help develop the climbing community locally and even regionally. You might have already noticed some of his problems in the gyms: aesthetic yet functional 3-dimensional boulders putting to use skills from his past experiences in the gaming industry.

If you catch him at the gym (lookout for his signature moustache) and let him know if his problems challenge your route reading and technical climbing abilities! He’s always up for a chat about routesetting or climbing. When Mike is not setting or climbing, he enjoys a good city-builder game or exploring new areas of the city.

The time has come to bid BM Suntec farewell 🥲
Over the past year, it has hosted a myriad of intense problems on the Spaceship, a vast collection of Flux problems you challenged yourselves on, and a bunch of fun events that brought everyone together. Thank you all for the memories!

Refocusing our attention on the other BM outlets is our next step ahead. You can look forward to more frequent sets at BM Bugis, and this also means new holds at Downtown, Tai Seng, and Rochor 👀

We hope you guys have fun on our wildcard problems up at Suntec all the way until 26th May. If you have a project there, now's your chance to send it!

Boulder Movement is offering progressive career development over the next three years with options to develop skills across functions based on interest and aptitude.

We invite you to send in your resume with an accompanying cover letter to [email protected] - we’ll reach out to you if we see a strong fit!

The goal of our Foundation classes is to help new climbers pick up the sport and make progress up to the BM 15 (around V3) level. Intro to Bouldering is the pre-requisite class that is highly recommended for all new climbers before they progress to the other Foundation classes, which don't have to be taken in any particular order.

The goal of our Master classes is to help climbers push past their plateaus and overcome more difficult challenges in their climbing journey. Climbers at the BM 18 and above levels (around V4) will find our Master classes highly relevant. If you're looking to unlock the latent potential deep hidden within, you should sign up!

Thank you for bringing friends to experience the joy of climbing at Boulder Movement. To sweeten it even more for our lovely fans, we're rolling out referral benefits.

Both the Referrer and Referee gets $5 credit in each of their accounts. That's yet another reason to celebrate!

How referral mechanics work:
1️⃣At the point of account creation, the Referee has to input the Referrer's referral code. When the account is successfully created, the Referee gets $5 credit.
2️⃣After the Referee makes a purchase via the app, the Referrer gets $5 credit.
3️⃣The credit will be reflected on the Account tab. It can be used to contra off the difference for subscriptions and entry/class package purchases.

Don't know about you, but these terms are a major tongue twister on the she-sells-sea-shells-on-sea-shore level.

Who's up for a challenge? The Referee gets a referral credit when using the Referrer's referral code. Say it in 3 seconds!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the team here at Boulder Movement!

See second page for our opening hours over this festive period. Please note that our Suntec location will be closed on 24 Dec and 31 Dec. Don’t be sad, you’ve got 4 other gyms to climb at (for half a day) on those days.

It’s the time of gatherings and feasting! Does carbo-loading apply to climbing 🥹

People often say “no pain, no gain”... But is that really true?

There are better ways to manage pain while climbing. If you experience pain while climbing and continue to "climb through it", you might be causing more harm than good!

Join us on 25th October, Tuesday,
7pm at BM RC (Lvl 2 - Retreat)
y, an avid climber and physiotherapist, will help you to understand better what pain is and teach methods on how to manage and deal with it.
