Oh wow. I came to a sudden realisation that I have been a Dentist for TWENTY TWO YEARS!!! That’s almost half my life!! 😳😳😱😱😅😅
The second pic was taken 19 years ago. It was my first time doing a connective tissue graft. On a pig. It did NOT go well. 🥹😳🤪
One of my first patients was .lee He sacrificed himself for me to graduate. 😂😂😂 My hands trembled giving my first injection and I think I injured him a few times. Dun worry we are still friends 😂😂.
I am definitely a much better clinician today because I keep on practising. Taking photos of my surgeries and looking at my own work so I can become better every single day.
Always a work in progress. ✨✨
To those young people that ask me for “work advice”. Find something you really love, and live and breathe it everyday. Pick yourself up when it’s a bad day and keep going. Keep practising and working on it. You will keep getting better I promise. Right .lee ? 🤪

Found this by accident tonight. This interview was done in 2001, one year after I graduated from dental school. ☺️
“Q 7 : What is your greatest challenge as a clinician now?
Marlene: My greatest challenge is to get patients to trust my clinical judgement. I also want my patients to leave my chair feeling less fearful of dentists and to become more aware of their dental needs.

Q 8 : What are your future goals?
Marlene: At present, I have an interest in Orthodontics and Periodontics. As yet, I am still unsure about which path would interest me more. I'm learning so many new things every day and both disciplines fascinate me in different
ways. I would like to play a part in promoting dentistry in Singapore. I feel that many Singaporeans are not dentally aware and many people have the misconception that dentist only cause pain and pull teeth. Hopefully I can change that in the future.”
Here I am 21 years later and I say to my old self “keep on going girl!” Hold on to the vision! 😍

“I chose dentistry because I wanted to help people heal. The human body and how it works has always fascinated me. Then I fell in love with periodontology. I feel like it’s a calling – to relate gum disease with inflammatory conditions in the body.”

Have you ever had one of those life changing moments where your life veered off course seemingly in a few minutes? It happened for me in the presence of Ray.
Recently one of my mentors Ray Williams passed away. He was the chairperson of my periodontology program at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. I still find it hard to grieve and believe he is gone as he was larger than life. I can still feel his immense presence and charisma. 💖
Serendipitously, Curaden asked me in an interview about a life changing moment in my career and it had everything to do with Ray. I miss you Ray. And I hope you can see your little chickadees flying your UNC flag all around the world for you.

It’s crazy how many people have been clenching and grinding lately.
Botox to the jaw muscles is one of the ways to lighten that crazy bite. 😅😅
Which other dentist friend sees that increase in the number of Bruxers? 🙋🏻‍♀️
My friend Tian Ee, director of , DREW this super pretty image to show how botox works. Enjoy! ☺️🤓
Posted • TES clinic explains how Botox works on muscles with another one of Dr Seah’s illustrations.
Part 2:
Nerve endings (illustrated in pink) stimulate muscles to contract with acetylcholine neurotransmitters that are released as vesicles.
When we inject Botox into the jaw (masseter) muscles, the Botox chains pe*****te the nerve endings and cleave SNAP receptor proteins located at the nerve endings.
Botox prevents the acetylcholine neurotransmitter vesicles from being released, the muscles stop being stimulated and become relaxed; thus preventing clenching or grinding!

Join me for an ITI webinar on Oct 13th 2021, 6pm (SGT) on how Injections can help with dental implant treatment!
Seems totally disparate, but Botox is being increasingly used as a novel solution for dental cases once considered “contraindicated”.
Dr Seah Tian Ee and I once gave a lecture on this topic together at the ITI conference in KL, 2019. This time, I will be showing more implant cases treated with Botox, in collaboration with
Illustrations for the lecture are also done by Dr Seah. Check out this beautiful skull digitally drawn by my super talented friend! Do give his clinic Instagram a follow if you want to see more educational drawings over the next few weeks! (Or want Botox to wherever!) 😂😂

sent me some juices for a cleanse but I really can’t do the fasting thing. *dramatic faint*
So I used these organic, super fresh THICK, non diluted YUMMY juices:
1. post workout
2. post patients
3. mid PSLE madness to hydrate myself.
I’m not a big fan of water so I only drink tea, coffee, juice, or coke 😂. (I guess juice is healthier than coke)
And might be totally unrelated but asked me if I lost weight after dunking in 7 bottles of juice in 2 days, with slightly smaller portions of normal meals. 😅😂
Well I can certainly tell you my digestive system is clean and currently very happy!
My ultra favourite flavour is blueberry, strawberry, apple and lemon btw!
